Man thrown from vehicle in crash involving commuter train in Metro Vancouver
The West Coast Express commuter rail service in Metro Vancouver was disrupted when a train collided with a pickup truck in Port Moody, B.C. Police say emergency responders were called to the crash site at the crossing at Reed Point Marina on Tuesday morning. Investigators say the driver of the pickup was thrown from the vehicle and has been hospitalized with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Port Moody police say the investigation has since been transferred to railway company Canadian Pacific Kansas City. The initial investigation shows the driver of the pickup truck may have failed to yield, resulting in the crash with the westbound train. TransLink, which operates the commuter rail service, says in a series of updates on social media that the crash delayed the commute and temporarily caused the cancellation of one service, although it has since been reinstated. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 12, 2025.
