Tri-Rail has made two recent changes. What to know if you ride the train
South Florida's commuter train has had added a new route and is also reminding riders to pay up.
In 2024, Tri-Rail rolled out an extension to downtown Miami, which runs from Hialeah to the Brightline station. And without a turnstile and a potential budget crisis, the railway in 2025 has issued reminders on signs, conductor announcements and more random checks on board to buy a ticket to ride.
Here's what to know:
Tri-Rail to downtown Miami
Tri-Rail, which runs mostly along the I-95 corridor from Palm Beach County to Miami International Airport, has rolled out a leg that takes travelers to downtown Miami.
Route extension to downtown: The nine-mile extension runs from the Tri-Rail Metrorail Transfer Station, 2601 E. 11th Ave. in Hialeah, for the trip to downtown Miami. The $70 million taxpayer-funded new leg runs along the FEC railway corridor. The last Tri-Rail route expansion was to Miami International Airport in 2015.
Stations: Tri-Rail trains from Hialeah will stop at MiamiCentral station, 600 NW First Ave. in downtown Miami. Brightline trains run from that station, with stops in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Orlando. The downtown Miami station connects with Miami-Dade Transit buses, Metrorail, and Metromover.

Tri-Rail's traditional route
Train service: Tri-Rail service, which started in 1989, stops at 18 stations through Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, from Miami International Airport through Golden Glades in Miami-Dade County, Hollywood through Deerfield Beach in Broward County, and Boca Raton and on to Mangonia Park Palm Beach County.

Tri-Rail fare
Unlike Metrorail or your favorite theme park, Tri-Rail doesn't have a ticket turnstile to board.
What to know about paying your fare:
▪ Cards: Monthly paid passengers can tap their card before and after boarding at a station kiosk.
▪ Station: Paper tickets can be purchased at station kiosks.
▪ App: Daily or monthly passes can be purchased electronically on the Tri-Rail app. An electronic wallet holds the passes. Daily electronic passes are valid for four hours from time of purchase.
▪ Cost: Tri-Rail charges by zone ($2.50 to $8.75 one-way depending on trip length) and also offers discounts, including for students, seniors, and for a child or a person with a disability. Frequent riders can buy 12-trip and monthly passes.
Enforcement: Security officers on board make random ticket checks. Conductors also make occasional announcements on having a ticket to ride and signs are posted at stations.
Taking Tri-Rail to South Florida airports
Tri-Rail has stations that serve the Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports:
▪ Miami: If you take Tri-Trail to the Miami airport station, the MIA Mover, an elevated people mover, will take you to the terminals. Several transit options converge at the Miami Airport Tri-Rail station, including Miami-Dade Transit buses, Metro Connect car service and the Metrorail Orange Line.
▪ Fort Lauderdale: Broward airport shuttle: Free, seven-day-a-week shuttle bus service operated by Tri-Rail takes passengers from the Fort Lauderdale Airport station to theterminals at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Regent's Seven Seas Prestige to reach a new level of opulence with top suite
Regent Seven Seas Cruises' newest ship will have a two-level suite measuring 8,794 square feet, about double the size of the current largest suite in the fleet. It will start at $25,000 per night. The cruise line is calling the Skyview Regent Suite aboard the Seven Seas Prestige "the largest ultra-luxury cruise suite in history." "We have this beauty of a suite, which is going to truly be a first in the industry from the standpoint of the most inclusive as well as the most sought-after address at sea," said Jason Montague, chief luxury officer for Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises. The Skyview Regent Suite will be located at the front of the ship and include two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a private sauna and gym, a 3,703 square foot balcony, a private bar, a walk-in closet and living room and dining areas. It will be the only suite with access to a 12-person private dining venue called The Study. When Seven Seas Prestige debuts in December 2026, its first sailings will be in the Caribbean and Europe. Its inaugural season includes two transatlantic crossings, journeys between the Caribbean and Los Angeles and a sailing from Miami to New York. Floating stone stairs or an elevator bring guests to the lower level, with its formal dining space, skylight, bar, couches and guest suite. The Skyview Regent Suite will be designed to accommodate up to six people. Included is a personal butler, daily spa treatments, a private fitness session, a private car and driver at every port, laundry and dry cleaning, a pillow and linen menu, and a bottle of Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac. "When you have everything included, you're not worrying about anything." The largest existing suite in Regent's fleet is 4,400 square feet and goes for about $15,000 per night. It is on the fleet's Explorer class ships, which include Seven Seas Explorer, Seven Seas Splendor and Seven Seas Grandeur. Seven Seas Prestige will be 40% larger than those ships but accommodate just 10% more guests.

Guests can experience the suite, which costs $25,000/ night, when the SS Prestige launches in late 2026. The suite is the signature luxury suite aboard the Seven Seas Prestige, the newest ship in Regent's fleet set to debut in late 2026 and poised to redefine luxury cruise travel in the years to come. And with 8,794 square feet spread over two levels, the suite appears designed to compete directly with the once-unshakable ownership of extreme luxury accommodations by top tier hotel brands just as several are taking to the seas by launching their own ships. But perhaps the most luxurious feature of all is the suite's outdoor space: a whopping 3,703-square-foot wraparound balcony. "We wanted to encourage people to go outside," Rodriguez said. "It's a fun project when you get to design almost without limits." The luxury of space is becoming increasingly coveted by luxury cruise travelers, and Regent is answering the call with the design of the Seven Seas Prestige beyond the private elevator, dramatic skylights, floating stone staircase, and panoramic views featured inside the Skyview Regent Suite. Clocking in at 77,000 tons with a max capacity of 822 guests and 630 crew members, the ship offers one of the highest space-to-guest and crew-to-guest ratios (1:1.31) in the industry. But for guests of the Skyview Regent Suite, the luxury experience isn't limited to square footage alone. Once checked in, suite guests will have access to enhancements throughout their voyage that include: a personal butler; daily spa and wellness treatments; a private car with a guide in every port; personalized stationary; and unlimited laundry. The suite also comes with top-tier Champagne, cognac, caviar service, daily canapés, Flou beds (handcrafted in Italy, with a cost of about $60,000 per bed) and luxury amenities like a curated pillow and fragrance menu. Prospective guests will have to wait until December 2026 for the inaugural sailings of the Seven Seas Prestige, which will include 13 voyages across Europe and the Caribbean Sea, with two transatlantic crossings and sailings of 10-15 nights in length.
