Brian Barry-Murphy pleased with early work at Cardiff
And it continued City's unbeaten start to the season after picking up four points in two League One fixtures.
'Really pleased, it means a lot to me to get through to the next round and to see who we could possibly take on,' said Barry-Murphy.
'This competition creates so many brilliant occasions but to get to those occasions you have to go through the rounds.
'So to win tonight was very important for us and we treated the game really seriously and I thought there was respect in that performance so I'm happy.
'We're in the very early stages of working together, we've figured out we have only trained for 25 days.
'So that's a very small period of time in terms of trying to build something together.'
Despite defeat, Swindon boss Ian Holloway was happy with his team's second-half performance.
He said: 'I was glad for the second half, really, and I'm glad half-time came when it did. I was a boxer, I don't think I've ever been punched so many times with their shape, with their structure, and they changed it when we blocked them off.
'Massive credit to their manager and their team, to what they did and their patterns, and when we blocked theirs, they changed it. And they changed it so we couldn't live with it, with the team that I had out there.'

But Moore has also signed a long-term deal with Spurs and hopes this campaign can put him on the path to global stardom. His next chance to shine is in the £40million Champions League play-off clash against Club Brugge, with the first leg at Ibrox on Tuesday night. Moore said: 'Performing well here to achieve what I want to at Spurs is a huge driving factor for me. 'I want to go and play in the biggest competitions and I want to hopefully be one of the best players in the world so it's massive for me. 'I've signed a new contract at Spurs but at the minute I'm focused on playing here so I'm just buzzing to go and play some massive games at this football club. 'I just want to play for this club and to become a better player. I think there are huge opportunities at this club and big games. 'It's a great club so I just want to play as many games as possible, score as many goals as I'm able to and excite as many people as I can.' League One Alloa - who had won all six of their games before Saturday - performed heroically at Ibrox and made life tough for Russell Martin's side. From being tipped for stardom at Spurs England Under-19s international Moore is now operating in the Old Firm goldfish bowl. He added: 'Yeah, I've experienced it a bit so far but it's not the same when you're not playing so now I'm involved in it I'll probably feel it more. 'But I think if I do what I'm good at and I go and play the way I know I can then I think everything will be all right. 'The manager's style here was a massive part of me hoping I'd join this club. I see the way the gaffer wants to play and it suits me a lot I think. 'It's attacking football and I get a lot of opportunities on the wing to go and show people what I can do. It helps me so I'm happy to be playing under the gaffer.' Moore missed out on sampling the European atmosphere under the lights at Ibrox last season. Jermain Defoe told him he couldn't pass up that chance again. Moore was sidelined when Tottenham drew in Glasgow in the Europa League last term but was told all about the night by his teammates when they returned to London. That stuck with him and was one of the first things he thought about when the opportunity to join Russell Martin's side came up. Then he was left in no doubt when he spoke to mentor Defoe, who won the title under Steven Gerrard during three years at Gers at the tail-end of his playing career then became Moore's Under-18s coach at Spurs. Moore said: 'I spoke to Jermain as he was my coach at Tottenham and I'm really close to him now. I talked to him about Rangers the club and he didn't say a bad word about it. 'He said it's an unbelievable place and he said if you've got a chance to go there then to take it. What a player he was and what a guy he is as well. 'I remember seeing him score goals here. I was a bit younger then but I know he was an unbelievable finisher and a great striker and the fans loved him up here. 'He said he loved his time up here too and I think he wishes he could have played here for longer. Do I hope I can have a similar impact? Yeah, I hope so.' Moore made five appearances for Spurs in the group stages of the Europa League competition they would eventually win last season and netted against Elfsborg. After being tipped for the top from an early age it left fans excited about just how good a prospect they had on their hands. But he was sidelined when Ange Postecoglou brought his side to Glasgow for that draw with Philippe Clement's men and looked on as the side went all the way with that memorable win over Manchester United in Bilbao. Now after seeing off the Wasps, all eyes are on the first leg of the £40million clash against the Belgian champs tomorrow night. He said: 'I wasn't up for that game here last year, no. At the time I was out for a bit so I couldn't come up but I was watching on the TV and I was fuming I couldn't be a part of it. 'When the lads came back from here they said it was one of the best atmospheres they'd ever played at. So when I heard about Rangers wanting me that came straight into my mind. 'I remembered all the good things the boys had said and now I can't wait to play in that sort of atmosphere. 'Tuesday's game is a massive game, as every match is when you play for Rangers. I'm excited for it. 'I saw some of the club's games in the earlier rounds this season and it's been good to qualify so it's a massive opportunity for me and all the boys. I can't wait to go. 'Last season was a really good season in Europe for me and for the team. I'm thankful to Ange for giving me my debut at Tottenham. He helped me a lot but now I'm focused on playing here. 'I've had some good experiences but I'm ready to go and show more. I want to go and make more of an impact on the European stage. I'm ready to play.' Moore's loan move was announced at the start of the month but red tape meant he had to bide his time before landing his first start on Saturday. He said: 'I think it was just to do with my age. I think I had to wait till my 18th birthday, which is just what it is. 'I couldn't change it but it kind of helped me so I could adapt to living here and moving here but I was ready to go and play when I had the chance. 'The delay has given me a chance to settle in and get to know everyone so it's been a good few weeks getting used to a new place and moving away from home. 5 'I've been ready to go so I was looking forward to Saturday and I was buzzing when I was out there.' But victory over Andy Graham's League One side was far from straightforward at points. Alloa can be proud of their display after putting up a proper fight against a much-changed Gers team. After falling behind to Nedim Bajrami's 13th minute opener they didn't buckle and Joe Rothwell's own goal 12 minutes later saw them. Then even when Emmanuel Fernandez and James Tavernier - courtesy of a VAR spotkick - put Gers 3-1 up Alloa pulled another back through Scott Taggart. Findlay Curtis' late fourth was a smart finish but perhaps harsh on the Wasps and Martin was just relieved to get through to a quarter-final against either Livingston or Hibs.
