Giants activate Andrew Thomas from the PUP list
The Giants announced that Thomas passed a physical, which cleared the way for him to be activated from the physically unable to perform list. He will now be able to participate in practice for the first time this summer.
Thomas has been recovering from the Lisfranc injury that put an end to his 2024 season. The team has brought him along slowly with a target of having him available for Week 1 in mind.
Tuesday's move opens the door for Thomas to be back in the starting lineup against the Commanders and the Giants will be hoping he stays there for the entire season.

Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver explains why Miami added Matthew Judon
Matthew Judon's one-year, $6 million deal with the Miami Dolphins adds even more depth and pass-rushing presence to what is already arguably Miami's deepest and strongest position group. He joins veterans Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, along with rookie Chop Robinson, forming a formidable collection of sack specialists on the edge. Judon brings 72 career sacks to Miami. The addition of Judon bolsters a front seven that Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver can rotate heavily, pairing his edge rushers with a deep defensive line anchored by team leader Zach Sieler, veteran Benito Jones, and rookies Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips. Weaver was all smiles when discussing the Judon addition Tuesday, telling reporters, 'You can't have enough of those guys, right? He's got the skill set, he's a physical presence, and he can win on the edge with both power, he's got a mean power rip move, and he's a really good hand fighter.' 'Everything he's showing on film is what we look for in our edges. He's a great complement to all the guys we have, and we're thrilled to have him.' The Dolphins' pass-rush depth could remind some of the New York Giants' famed 'NASCAR package,' introduced in 2007. When asked what he calls Miami's version, Weaver said, 'I can't tell you our words, because then they'll listen on TV, hear me say it, and know it's coming. We have a bunch of different words.' 'I told Benito [Jones] when he got that half-sack a few weeks ago, we might put in the 'Meat Package', him, Kenneth Grant, Jordan Phillips, it'd only be for a minute.' With Hard Rock Stadium being home to the Miami Grand Prix, perhaps the "Formula 1 package" would fit the bill. But what about the Dolphins' young, unproven secondary? Weaver is hopeful that the stacked defensive front will give them a boost. "Ask the 2012 Giants, Osi [Umenyiora], Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, a wealth of edges who can rush,' Weaver said. "We have guys who can not only rush from the edge, but can produce inside as well. When you pair that with Zach Sieler, Kenneth Grant, and some of the other guys we have, it's really exciting to think about the potential mismatches we can create for offenses.' Weavers is set to have some fun planning and scheming with this group, and not for nothing, that defense worked well for the Giants, which brought them a pair of Super Bowl Championships.

Live updates: What's happening at Miami Dolphins practice. Waller comes off PUP
Live reports from Day 18 of Miami Dolphins preseason practices (it's not called training camp this week). Please keep checking back for updates: ▪ The Dolphins activated Darren Waller off the physically unable to perform list on Wednesday morning, which gives him 2 1/2 weeks to practice before the Sept. 7 season opener at Indianapolis. The Dolphins placed Waller on PUP at the start of camp — which prohibits a player from practicing — so he could get himself into NFL game shape, and reduce the risk of injury, after spending last season in retirement. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said on WSVN 7 that Waller will be ready to contribute in the season opener. Offensive coordinator Frank Smith, who coached Waller with the Raiders, believes he can help quickly. 'My experience with him, the mental side is an extreme strength of his,' Smith said Tuesday. 'Knowing where he needs to be, terminology, that for him is always just something that comes very natural to him because he's used to having to line up everywhere, especially at the Raiders.' 'For him, really, coming back is just making sure that we're getting him physically ready considering he had the year off,' Smith said. 'So when it comes to him, just my experience with him, I'm not really worried about the mental aspect for the game because he is and probably will (forever) be one of the smartest players I ever coached.' Waller, 32, has made one Pro Bowl appearance, as a member of the Raiders in 2020, when he caught 107 passes for 1,196 yards. He caught 52 passes for 552 yards for the Giants in 2023 before retiring the following June. He came out of retirement only July 1, and the Giants traded him and a seventh-round pick to Miami for a sixth-round pick. Rosenhaus said Waller called and told him he wanted to come out of retirement five days before the trade was consummated. General manager Chris Grier was quickly made aware of Waller's interest in playing for Miami, where he has a home. Even though he hasn't been able to practice, the Dolphins have listed him as the starting tight end on the depth chart. Julian Hill, Pharoah Brown, Hayden Rucci and Chris Myarick are the other tight ends on the roster.
