Haramain Station in Madinah gears up to receive unprecedented number of passengers during last days of Ramadan

MADINAH — The Haramain High Speed Railway Station in Madinah has geared up to deal with the unprecedented number of passengers during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
The number of gates at the station has been increased from 8 to 24 gates, in addition to arranging two new lounges to welcome arriving and departing travelers. This aims to improve passengers' experience and facilitate their smooth movement.
The passengers are provided with free transportation between the train station and the Prophet's Mosque, with special arrangements for senior citizens and people with special needs. This is part of the Haramain Railway's efforts to provide the best possible means of transportation for visitors and pilgrims.
The Saudi Railways Company (SAR) has announced that its Ramadan plan includes operation of 3400 trips between Makkah and Madinah with provision of more than 1.6 million seats. There has been an increase of 130 daily trips during the last 10 days of Ramadan. This is to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims and visitors.
The Haramain High Speed Train facilitates easier transportation between Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah, the King Abdulaziz International Airport Jeddah, and King Abdullah Economic City. The Haramain Train, with a speed of 300 km per hour, is considered as one of the top 10 fastest electric trains in the world and one of the largest transportation projects in the Middle East.It makes the perfect choice of transportation between the two holy cities. The train, with a capacity of 417 passengers in its business and economy classes, takes two hours to cover the distance of 453 km between Makkah and Madinah.

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that confirmed hotel bookings through the Nusuk Masar platform are now mandatory for all Umrah visa applicants for the 1447H season. The Ministry confirmed the new requirement on its official X platform, stating: 'To improve service standards and enrich the pilgrim experience, housing documentation through Nusuk Masar is now required for all 1447H Umrah visa issuances.' Under the new rules, all Umrah operators and agents are required to limit accommodations to hotels licensed and approved by the Ministry of Tourism. Contracts must be documented and uploaded via the Nusuk Masar platform to ensure transparency and quality assurance. The Ministry warned that failure to comply with the new requirement could result in visa delays, rejections, or financial penalties. It also emphasized that the Nusuk Masar platform serves as the central portal for managing all Umrah-related services, including hotel bookings, housing contract uploads, permit management, and access to multilingual travel materials.

Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — Deputy Emir of Makkah Region and Vice Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah Prince Saud bin Mishaal chaired a meeting of the committee to discuss early preparations for the Hajj season of 2026. This is in line with the directives of Advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah Region, and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. Prince Saud conveyed Prince Khaled Al-Faisal's appreciation to committee members for their efforts during Hajj 1446 AH, which enabled pilgrims to perform their rituals in ease and comfort. He emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the positive outcomes of this year's Hajj and urged all stakeholders to intensify their efforts, enhance cooperation, and begin early planning to meet the aspirations of the leadership through further improving the pilgrimage experience. The committee reviewed key measures to develop the Hajj system further and deliver improved services to pilgrims in the upcoming season. The meeting also examined the operations during pilgrims' departure through various entry and exit points, as well as other items on the agenda. Several recommendations were issued to support continued development and readiness for the next Hajj season.
