Manny Jacinto says he wants to work with Lea Salonga, do a film in the PH
The Filipino-Canadian "Freakier Friday" star guested on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" Friday where he talked about his career, Filipino culture, and more.
According to Manny, one of his goals is to actually create stories that can be filmed in the Philippines.
"Yeah, I think the actual goal is I'm trying to write and create stories that could hopefully be filmed in the Philippines as well, both whether to act here or to create stories to act here," he said.
He added that one story he has in mind revolves around sabong or cockfighting.
"It's a family story. I can't say too much about it because we're still — it's still in the works, but yeah, something along those lines."
He also shared that Lea Salonga is one of the Filipino actors he'd like to work with if given the chance.
"I mean we've maybe talked on social media possibly, like friends of friends, but we haven't gotten to really speak to one another face to face," he said of the Tony award-winning actress.
Aside from Lea, the Hollywood actor also named the late Comedy King Dolphy.
"I mean if he was still alive, Dolphy would have been incredible. I think, you know, he was a pretty big part of my childhood, watching those Filipino movies and I think being in the comedy space helped a lot," he said.
During the "Fast Talk" segment earlier, Manny had mentioned Dolly De Leon and Christopher De Leon as his favorite Filipino actress and actor.
Manny is currently in the country for the Philippine premiere of "Freakier Friday," which is now showing in cinemas.
He stars in the film alongside Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, playing the role of Eric Davies, a charismatic chef and a devoted single dad engaged to Anna (Lindsay).
His past works include "Star Wars: The Acolyte," "Nine Perfect Strangers" which also stars Dolly, "Top Gun: Maverick," "The Good Place," and more.
