Ally McCoist has defended the former Celtic boss as Spurs fans call for the axe to fall
In a divided city where friendship is often a non-starter Ange Postecoglou has found an ally in the most unlikely of places.
The former Celtic boss lost another game with Tottenham Hotspur as Nottingham Forest nabbed all three points from London on Monday night.
Spurs have now lost 18 games in the Premier League, sitting 17th in the table, and have crashed out of both domestic cups.
The Europa League is all that is left but many White Hart Lane faithful think enough is enough and Ange should head for the exit door sooner rather than later.
Enter Rangers legend Ally McCoist.
The Ibrox favourite has broken bread with his opinions over Ange on many occasions.
The 62-year-old was pictured embracing Ange at Ibrox in April 2022 ahead of an Old Firm derby.
On the other side of it, McCoist later joked about driving the Aussie coach down to take the Leeds job in 2023 to give his beloved Rangers a better shot in the Viaplay Cup final.
Playing devils' advocate on talkSPORT pundits duties, McCoist batted for Ange once again during a heated tongue-and-cheek debate with Spurs-mad presenter Abbi Summer and Gabriel Agbonglahor.
Summers: "We might win the Europa League. If we have got to finish 16-17th and we win the Europa League we will take it.
McCoist: "Right so you say you will take it. Where do you stand on it if it is good enough to keep Ange in a job?
Summers: "He's got to go Al - are you mental?!"
McCoist: "Wait a minute. When was the last time you won anything? And you want to sack a man - say he wins it - you want him sacked?
"So he wins you the Europa League. Do you want to get rid of him? How can that be?!
"You've had Mourinho, Pochettino - you've had them all - Conte. He's got to [keep him]," he concluded before sharing a cheeky smile at Summers.
She replied: "You don't even mean that, sip your coffee in piece."
McCoist added: "I have got unbelievable sympathy for Tottenham fans. I don't want it to sound sycophantic - I actually want them to win it [the Europa League].
"For the fans most of all to be honest."

Viktor Gyokeres has received a rival contract offer worth £11m-a-year after holding talks with Arsenal and Manchester United, according to reports. Amorim had been hoping to book a reunion with his former Sporting star at Old Trafford despite United finishing just 15th in the Premier League and failing to qualify for the Champions League. But Portuguese outlet Report claimed over the weekend that Gyokeres had decided against joining Manchester United this summer and was instead pushing for a move to Arsenal. That appeared to leave Arsenal in pole position to win the transfer race but the situation was complicated further by reports that the Gunners are becoming 'fed up' with negotiations with both the player and his current club. According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are planning to take advantage of the uncertainty by hijacking the transfer and bringing Gyokeres to Turin. It is claimed that after talks with Gyokeres' representatives the Serie A giants indicated they are ready to draw up a contract worth £11m-a-year. Any Juve move for Gyokeres will, however, rely first on the club offloading current striker Dusan Vlahovic, who continues to be linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. Reports in Italy also say Juventus are planning to make an official offer for Gyokeres, believed to be worth more than £60m, 'in the next few days'. Arsenal and Manchester United could yet face further competition for Gyokeres from Saudi Arabia, who are keen to add another star name to their league. Gyokeres recently rejected an approach from Al Hilal but may make a U-turn if moves to Arsenal, United or Juventus fail to materialise. Spending another season at Sporting Lisbon appears to be off the table, with Gyokeres believed to be 'furious' at his club over their approach to his potential sale. Ex-England defender Rio Ferdinand believes Gyokeres should 'cause a nightmare' at Sporting to force a move this summer. 'I'll tell you one thing, I would be in his office [Sporting president Frederico Varandas] and he wouldn't be able to leave me,' Ferdinand told talkSPORT when asked about the latest rumours. 'I'd be in his bed, I'd be in his front room, his kitchen, he wouldn't be able to get me out of his sight. I'd be causing him a nightmare to get out if we'd had an agreement. 'I did that when I was at Leeds. I heard that Manchester United were interested in me and I knew had to let me go. 'I went to Peter Ridsdale and said, 'Listen, I know you need to sell me, let's not haggle over a couple of million here and there and let's get a deal done', and I was there for hours waiting and ended up getting it done.' Maxwell details Scottish FA decision over Rangers takeover
The Ibrox club had to submit paperwork to Hampden bosses before the takeover could be given the green light due to dual interest legislation. Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises had to go through the legal process due to the investment wing holding shares in English Premier League club Leeds. The Scottish FA has granted permission for the takeover deal to go ahead without any issue, subject to written undertakings signed by club officials and the investing party. The agreement means the investing party's interest in any other club does not preclude Rangers from participating in any UEFA competition they qualify for, among other commitments. Chief executive Maxwell said: 'No, they've not been particularly complicated. To be honest, we've definitely been more open. Multi-club ownership is here. It's part of football. 'When you look across Europe, the number of clubs that are involved in some multi-club structure is growing by the day. We need to be part of that, why would you limit that investment? 'When you think about it was actually interesting when you start to think through the process and we had dual interest regulations, which meant that, when you're involved in a club, you can't get involved in a Scottish club unless we say yes. 'But someone like Tony Bloom, for example, is getting involved in Hearts and he has a track record at Brighton, understands football and already has Union SG and those other clubs. 'We actually make it harder for him to come into Scottish football than we do for someone who's just sold a company for £10 million that's got no understanding of the Scottish game. So when you actually get into it, you go that probably doesn't make a lot of sense. 'So our board are looking at it from two perspectives. Does it grow and develop the game? Will it generate financial investment into Scottish football? Does it give us an integrity issue? 'The integrity issue falls away because that would only happen if it was two Scottish teams playing under our jurisdiction, which it's not. 'The jurisdictional matter becomes a UEFA point and we've been clear in all the dual interests. 'All the multi-club investment models that we've done, we've been very clear that if there was, similar to a Crystal Palace scenario at the moment where there's a question mark about which one's going to play in Europe, it can't be the Scottish club that's the unintended consequence or has to step aside from European competition. For Maxwell, it's an overwhelming positive that new investors have experience across a number of clubs. He added: 'The good thing is, because the vast majority of clubs that have came into Scotland have got other multi-club ownership models, they're used to that and when you speak to the guys involved in the Hearts deal they're very aware of what UEFA need and what UEFA want and how that structure needs to look to make sure we don't get ourselves those problems. 'So I think it's here, we can't ignore it and why would you want to step away from it? Why would you want to block investment coming into the game if it's going to be good for our clubs? 'The trick is that the club need to then go and spend that money as wisely as possible. 'We don't get involved in that bit, but from a board perspective there's definitely a willingness to look at anything that generates more investment into Scotland.'
