Bandi Sanjay dares Congress government to seek CBI inquiry into phone tapping case to bring ‘masterminds' behind it to justice

The Hindu4 hours ago

Alleging that the Congress was having a secret understanding with the BRS, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday dared Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to seek a CBI inquiry into the telephone tapping case.
Mr Sanjay was in Karimnagar to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations held at the Dr BR Ambedkar stadium on Saturday. Later, speaking to the media, he questioned why Mr. Revanth Reddy, who had demanded a CBI probe into the phone tapping issue while he was the TPCC president during the BRS rule, failed to act upon it after coming to power.
He alleged that the previous K. Chandrasekhar Rao-led dispensation filed dozens of cases against him. 'I was the first to speak out about the phone tapping. The tapping was conducted from Hyderabad and Sircilla. Everyone knows who is behind this,' he added.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar said, 'Former Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who is the prime accused in the phone tapping case, tapped the phone of BJP leaders, including mine. The accused did not just tap phones of BJP leaders but also of Congress and BRS leaders. Even judges were not spared.'
The prime accused 'fled' the country after the Congress came to power, he criticised. 'Despite clear evidence that the phone tapping was done at the behest of the persons at the helm in the previous BRS government, why has no notice been issued to the masterminds behind the nefarious crime?' he asked.
Stating that he had received a phone call from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone tapping case to testify before it, Mr. Sanjay said he will cooperate with the investigation and act as per law.

Suvendu Adhikari slams Bengal govt for skipping Yoga Day, says

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 21 (ANI): On the occasion of International Yoga Day, West Bengal's Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari criticised the state government for not participating in the nationwide celebration. He alleged that while both NDA and non-NDA ruled states observed the day, West Bengal deliberately skipped it. Speaking to ANI, Adhikari said, 'NDA and non-NDA state governments are celebrating Yoga Day today, except West Bengal, because West Bengal follows Bangladesh. It does not follow Delhi. More than 180 countries are celebrating International Yoga Day today. As Indians, we are proud of this.' The sharp remarks came as International Yoga Day was celebrated across the country, promoting the physical and mental health benefits of yoga. Earlier on Saturday, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said, 'Yoga is our country's heritage. We have given yoga to the world. It is a very good medium to keep the body healthy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promoted it globally, and now yoga is being practised in about 200 countries, so the credit for this goes to Narendra Modi, who revived and promoted yoga in the world again.' Meanwhile, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose highlighted how the practice of Yoga was earlier 'confined to India,' and the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spread it internationally has led to people accepting it the world over. As part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the effort to promote a healthy lifestyle while performing Yoga with others in Vishakapatnam. Meanwhile, multiple other Chief Ministers and Union Ministers are participating in Yoga events in their respective cities. 'Yoga is universal in nature. Yoga connects the mind and the body. This is something which belongs to the entire humanity. It was confined to India, but our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, took it to the whole world. Now it is for the world, and the world is accepting it,' Governor Bose told ANI. (ANI)

Congress MP Randhawa slams J-K CM Omar Abdullah over remarks on Indus waters

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], June 21 (ANI): Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa strongly rebuked Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his opposition to a proposed 113-km canal to divert surplus water from the Indus river system to Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, emphasising Punjab's historical and agricultural significance. He recalled the challenges Punjab faced during Operation Sindoor, asserting that there wasn't as much 'Pakistani attack in J&K as there was in Punjab.' Speaking in to ANI, Randhawa said, 'One should not make statements that cast doubt on patriotism. Punjabis have never done that. And even during Operation Sindoor, there wasn't as much Pakistani attack in J&K as there was in Punjab. Punjab was turned into a battlefield. The patriotism of Punjab, the strength of Punjab, and the strength of its agriculture -- as long as Punjab remains strong, India remains strong.' Randhawa said he was 'sad' and 'hurt' by the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister's recent comments. 'I don't know in what context Mr. Abdullah made his statement, but I'm sad. Considering the relationships his grandfather, father, and himself have had with Punjabis and with Punjab, and the faith his father and grandfather had in Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple), I am hurt by his statement.' He directly replied to CM Abdullah's remarks: 'Punjab should be given water because when India gained Independence, we used to beg to the world for (food) grain.' The Congress MP underscored the historic significance of Punjab's irrigation system, recalling the legacy of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. 'It is because of this water, and the three dams built there, and if they have even a little knowledge of history, they would know that the best canal system existed during Maharaja Ranjit Singh's time. From Khyber Pass, where the Mughals used to enter and loot India, Maharaja Ranjit Singh blocked that route and stopped the Mughals from entering, turning the country into a capable and independent state. He ruled over Jammu & Kashmir for over 40 years.' He stated that Punjab's border regions, including areas right up to the no-man's-land where farming continues today, are not only symbols of the state's resilience but crucial contributors to national food supplies. 'That water is Punjab's lifeline,' he said. Randhawa's remarks come in response to CM Abdullah's June 20 statement in Jammu, where he rejected the canal, citing Jammu's drought-like conditions and questioning Punjab's past support asking 'Did they give us water when we needed it?' "Sukhu govt's mindset is anti-Sanatan": Jairam Thakur attacks Congress govt

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 21 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh LoP and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led Congress government, accusing them of fostering an 'anti-Sanatan' mindset and systematically targeting the Hindu population of the state. Thakur was addressing a press conference in Shimla alongside State BJP President Rajiv Bindal. 'Ever since the Congress came to power, incidents against Hindus have been on the rise in Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister himself had publicly spoken of defeating a party that represents the ideology of 97 per cent Hindus of this state. That statement has now become the government's operating mindset,' said Thakur. 'The case of a missing Hindu girl is nothing but love jihad. Shockingly, the police deliberately delayed registering an FIR despite repeated requests from the family. It was only after angry public protests that the girl was traced,' referring to a recent incident in Paonta Sahib, Thakur said. He alleged that the government responded to the public outrage not with justice but political vengeance. 'Cases under BNS Section 109 have now been registered against senior BJP leaders, including Dr Rajiv Bindal and former minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary. This is nothing but a case of political retaliation,' Thakur added. He said during the present Congress regime there were multiple incidents pointing to Anti-Hindu bias. The BJP leader said that this was not the first time the Congress government had displayed open bias against Hindus or attempted to stifle the voice of the opposition. 'In the Manohar murder case in Chamba, the government didn't allow opposition leaders to visit the spot. In Nahan, a Muslim youth from Saharanpur slaughtered a cow and shared the photos on social media yet no legal action was taken,' he said. Thakur also raised the issue of an illegal mosque construction in Sanjauli, a matter that had sparked national outrage. 'Despite the uproar, the Congress government chose to remain silent,' he said. The LoP alleged that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was turning a blind eye to serious issues like 'love jihad', illegal religious structures, and alleged cow slaughter. 'All of this reveals a deliberate anti-Sanatan intent. If the false cases filed against BJP leaders are not withdrawn immediately, we will launch a massive statewide agitation,' Thakur warned. Rajiv Bindal, who was present at the press conference, echoed these sentiments and said the government was resorting to vendetta politics instead of focusing on law and order. The BJP leadership has demanded immediate withdrawal of what they termed as 'false and fabricated' charges and warned of intensified protests if their demand is not met. (ANI)
