Bob Marley fan from Driffield marks reggae singer's 80th birthday
He said: "It all started when I was about 13 or 14, as my sister had a really good record collection and she had a few good Bob Marley albums, so I started listening and have been ever since. I just listen to his music all the time."He has had a big influence in my life and always sang songs with messages in about unity and social changes and so I think listening to Bob Marley has made me a better person."He stood up for those who never had a voice and he wanted to unite the world and his music lives on today."Marley was born on 6 February 1945 in Jamaica to a black mother and white father, whom he did not have much contact with as he was a naval officer who worked for the British government.
Marley moved to Britain in 1972 with his band The Wailers to tour with Johnny Nash, which led to them releasing an album called Catch a Fire and making their television debut on the BBC.His career began to take off when his live recording of No Woman No Cry, which he sang at The Lyceum in London in 1975, was released as a single.Mr Flake said he had visited Jamaica a number of times over the years and had even been to Marley's childhood home in Nine Mile.He said: "Today there will be people from all over the world at his house, with events being held there and gospel choirs and people of all ages singing his songs.

But she soon quipped that she had actually had to return to the static home. Speaking on GMB, Ranvir said to the star: "You know what, you used to live in a caravan before all of this, and now, just a few years later, you've bought this enormous house. You're a great British success story, Josie!" Josie shot back: "Well, I'm moving back into a caravan, I don't know about that!" But the Big Brother winner is only heading back to the caravan temporarily as she transforms her countryside pile in Somerset. The huge construction project is being captured by ITV for a brand new series following Josie but she joked that the extensive renovations had left her "skint". As part of the show, she has teamed up with her brothers, Charlie and Josh, as well as her cousin Tom and a team of locals to create her dream property. Josie said this morning: "I've actually roped the family in. They say never to work with family or animals, and I've done just that. To say my stress levels are up here... "They are great, they are amazing, but there are a lot of challenges, let's say." She added: "I've had a lot of sleepless nights. Former GMB presenter Piers Morgan was accused of 'attention-seeking' after sharing a post about Beyoncé's new jeans advert Piers Morgan was told to 'have a day off' as he shared yet another controversial post, this time accusing Beyoncé of cultural appropriation. The former Good Morning Britain presenter, who stormed off the ITV set before quitting the show, is known for his outspoken views that have often landed him in hot water. This time, the 60-year-old took to his X/ Twitter account to share a picture of Beyoncé rocking a full denim outfit in a new advert for Levi's jeans. The award-winning singer posed in a bedazzled denim crop jacket and equally bedazzled jeans for the photo, which was shared on the brand's social media page. She rocked curly blonde hair in the snaps and completed the outfit with silver shows. While most people loved the advert, Piers couldn't help but hit out at her, claiming she was trying to 'culturally appropriate' Marilyn Monroe. It comes after Taylor Swift sparks engagement rumours as fans spot Travis Kelce's lock screen. His criticism comes extremely soon after Sydney Sweeney received backlash for her American Eagle advert, which had her saying she had 'great jeans'. In the advert, she said: "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality, and even eye colour. My jeans are blue." A voiceover then adds: 'Sydney Sweeney has great genes." In the US, American Eagle's billboard ads show the word 'genes' crossed out and replaced with 'jeans'. While some think the campaign is harmless, many say it taps into the ideology of eugenics - the belief that the human race could be 'improved' by increasing the presence of traits considered desirable, traits historically linked to whiteness. Meanwhile, Piers used the heightened tension regarding the recent advert to share the picture of Beyoncé's advert and wrote: "Very disappointed to see Beyoncé culturally appropriate Marilyn Monroe in her new Levi's ad." Fans hit out at his antics, with one writing in the comment section: "Have a day off," and another posting: "A white British man talking about cultural appropriation. The jokes. They write themselves." Another commented: "Do you understand.. Words? Do you know what culture means?" while one simply pointed out: "Attention seeking ting Piers?" One person reminded the TV presenter Marilyn, real name Norma Jeane Mortenson, wasn't a natural blonde and another posted: "Marilyn Monroe is not a culture she's a person and she didn't invent blonde hair either lol." Even Dionne Warwick said: "Getting involved in women's business again, I see…" before Piers responded: "Oh not you too, Dionne… it was a JOKE!" He defended himself in another tweet and claimed: "I would say I can't believe anyone took my obvious Beyoncé joke post seriously… but I forgot the woke brigade have zero sense of humour."

Edinburgh Festival Fringe: 'I went to see an '80s TV icon and left after 20 minutes'

More info The British television icon, Bobby Davro, has returned for his second full length run at the Edinburgh Fringe. I was warned in advance about what to expect, however in an attempt at maintaining journalistic neutrality, I went into this experience with an open mind. I've always been of the persuasion that all art is inherently political… and I still do believe that, however what Bobby Davro does is not art at all, and it certainly isn't political - it's just rehearsing 90 minutes worth of the things reposted on Facebook by your uncle that no longer gets invited to Christmas. The show opens with a satirical disclaimer poking fun at the 'woke' agenda, followed by a singalong of The Proclaimers' '500 Miles' where he encourages his audience to chant his name during the chorus - something I'm told he's been doing for a very long time, this got a good response. From the outset, Davro makes repeated gags about trans and queer people, the one receiving the best audience reaction being his intentional misspelling of LGBTQ+ … a joke I'm sure took him hours to come up with. Other jokes in the show featured such explosive comedy as 'I'm not racist, I've got a colour TV' as well as upon gesturing to an audience member, 'look, she laughed so much at that one she's got tears dribbling down her leg!'. Some of the women in the crowd appeared visibly disturbed and at times confused by the 'jokes' being told on stage and while at no point do I claim that I speak for women - I'm fairly comfortable saying that this show is not targeted towards a female audience… at all. This performance had no charm, substance or depth. The act would have been somewhat meta or reflective if it were written about 30 years ago and by the sound of the material itself, it was. Listen, Bobby Davro (Robert Christopher Nankeville) has the right to earn a living as much as anybody, unfortunately for him I just don't think the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the place to do that. In truth I left this show about 20 minutes in, I felt uncomfortable and cringed out for my entire time there. I'd like to offer my utmost apologies to Mr Davro if the part of the show I missed turned into the most profound, era defining comedy anyone's ever seen… but I sincerely doubt it.
