Make foolproof arrangements for NEET exam: Collector
Nandyal: District Collector G Raja Kumari has directed the concerned officials to make foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) scheduled for May 4. She issued these instructions during a review meeting held on Monday at the PGRES Hall in the Collectorate, following the Praja Parishkara Vedika (Public Grievances Redressal Program).
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Rajakumari stated that 1,172 students will be appearing for the NEET exam across various centers in Nandyal town, including the Government Degree College, Government High School near the Bus Stand, Tekke Junior College, and Government Polytechnic College, among others. She emphasized the need to ensure all necessary basic amenities at the exam centres.
The Collector instructed officials to allow students into exam centers from 11:00 a.m. and directed APSPDCL authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the examination. She also asked the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) to set up medical camps at the examination centers.
Further, the Municipal Commissioner was directed to ensure proper sanitation and drinking water facilities in and around the exam centers. The District Educational Officer (DEO) was instructed to arrange enough benches for students at all centers.
Additionally, the Collector asked Tahsildars and police officials to impose Section 144 (prohibitory orders) in the vicinity of the exam centers to maintain law and order. Joint Collector C Vishnu Charan, DRO Ramu Naik, Deputy Collectors, and several district officials attended the meeting.

Mahabubnagar: District Collector Viziyendira Boyi urged officials to ensure accurate data collection and timely uploading of Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 indicators for 2023-24. She was speaking at a training session for MPDOs, MPOs, Panchayat Secretaries, and department officials at the Collectorate conference hall. She reminded that Telangana ranked second nationally last year and expressed confidence that Mahabubnagar can take the lead this year. Regarding Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2025, the Collector called for better performance. Rankings will be based on service level progress, citizen feedback, field observations, and third-party inspections of villages and homes. She also reviewed progress under Indiramma housing, urging officials to speed up grounding of approved houses. From June 25 to July 8, awareness campaigns will be held in 25 tribal hamlets and 14 Chenchu villages under PM-JANMAN and PM-Dhartiawabha schemes. The aim is 100% coverage of Aadhaar, ration cards, Ayushman Bharat, caste certificates, KCC, and Jan Dhan accounts. Officials were directed to collect applications from those without key documents and ensure benefits reach all eligible families.

DU issues apology over UG admission form error
Delhi University (DU) issued an apology on Saturday regarding an 'inadvertent error' in its undergraduate admission form earlier this week, where names of communities and religions appeared in the language section, drawing criticism from teachers who termed it 'insensitive' and 'embarrassing'. Teachers who were critical of the move pointed out that Urdu had not been included in the UG admissions form, but 'Muslim', 'Hindu', and 'Bihari' were listed under the languages section. DU Registrar Vikas Gupta said that as soon as the issue was brought to the administration's notice, the option on the online portal was disabled. In a statement, DU said, 'The university sincerely regrets the inadvertent error. We acknowledge your concerns and are committed to addressing them. However, attributing ulterior motives to this entirely unintentional oversight is unwarranted. We request all not to vitiate the university's diverse environment.'

Centre forms panel to probe coaching reliance and entrance exam issues
The Ministry of Education has set up a special 9-member committee to improve the way students learn in schools.
