Frank Sinatra Reaches A Special Milestone In One Of His Music's Busiest Weeks In Memory

Forbes05-05-2025

Frank Sinatra returns to Billboard's jazz charts as Ultimate Sinatra hits No. 1 and reaches 350 ... More weeks, marking a major milestone for the legendary musician. Publicity Photo of Frank Sinatra holding a gun as John Baron in the 1954 film Suddenly.
Frank Sinatra appears on two Billboard charts this week, which is a fairly typical performance for the legendary crooner. He places multiple collections on both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums rankings, which list the most consumed titles in those styles — with one being slightly more specific than the other. The late singer sees several projects reappear on the two rosters following a deluge of Record Store Day releases from jazz greats, and he manages to reach a special milestone on both tallies with different offerings.
Sinatra sits highest on the two rankings with Ultimate Sinatra, one of his most successful compilations. The set bolts to No. 2 on the Jazz Albums chart and shoots from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Traditional Jazz Albums ranking, soaring to the summit once again on the more traditional-leaning list.
Ultimate Sinatra hits 350 weeks on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart. It is the musician's first title to make it to that impressive sum.
Ultimate Sinatra is actually Sinatra's only collection to pass 300 weeks on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart. Just four titles in his discography have passed triple-digit frames, including Nothing but the Best (227 weeks), Sinatra: Duets: Twentieth Anniversary (Deluxe Edition) (118 weeks), and Ultimate Sinatra: The Centennial Collection (112 weeks). That two versions of Ultimate Sinatra appear on the same list, and not far apart from one another, speaks to the incredible level of consumption his work is still enjoying.
At the same time that Ultimate Sinatra reaches 350 weeks on the Traditional Jazz Albums list, Sinatra: Duets: Twentieth Anniversary (Deluxe Edition) also hits a milestone. That set is now up to 150 weeks on the Jazz Albums list. That's not a first for the celebrated musician on the tally, though he hasn't seen many of his releases make it to that number.
Four of Sinatra's works have spent at least 150 weeks on the Jazz Albums list. The lineup is similar to the most successful on the traditional roster, as it includes Ultimate Sinatra (315 weeks), Nothing but the Best (251), and Ultimate Sinatra: The Centennial Collection (169), which have all hit that notable figure.
Three of Sinatra's four charting albums in America return to these jazz lists, with Ultimate Sinatra being the only one that doesn't need to. Nothing but the Best and Ultimate Sinatra: The Centennial Collection both bound back onto both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums rankings, while Sinatra: Duets: Twentieth Anniversary (Deluxe Edition) only manages to reappear on the slightly longer Jazz Albums roster.

Doechii Calls Out ICE Raids & President Trump at 2025 BET Awards: ‘People Are Being Swept Up & Torn From Their Families'

At the 2025 BET Awards, Doechii had something to say. The Florida rapper continued her winning year by being named best female hip hop artist at Monday night's (June 9) show, and instead of using her speech to talk about all she's accomplished since dropping the critically acclaimed mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, she addressed the protests happening right outside the Peacock Theater in downtown L.A., criticizing President Trump's use of force. 'There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order. Trump is using military force to stop a protest. And I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?' She then added that she felt a responsibility to use her platform to speak out. 'People are being swept up and torn from their families, and I feel it's my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people,' she said to raucous applause. 'For Black people, for Latino people, for trans people, for the people in Gaza, we all deserve to live in hope and not in fear and I hope we stand together, my brothers and my sisters, against hate and we protest against it.' In a move that's been highly criticized, President Trump deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles over the weekend as an attempt to quell people protesting against ICE immigration raids that have been happening all over the city. And Doechii isn't the only artist to speak out: Tyler, The Creator, The Game, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Rage Against the Machines's Tom Morello, and Kehlani have all voiced support for the protesters as well. Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Album Surges Back to Top Five on Charts Following Masters Purchase

Taylor Swift's Reputation has jumped back into the top-five on Billboard's 200 albums chart, over a week after the superstar announced that she had finally gained ownership of the album and the rest of her catalog from her old Big Machine record deal. According to Billboard, consumption on Reputation rose 221 percent, with the album earning 42,000 album equivalent units this past week. She sold 15,000 albums, and the album also had about 34.75 million streams. Fearless streams went up 160 percent, Red climbed 150 percent and 1989 jumped 110 percent. Reputation, which came out in 2017, was the final album Swift recorded with Big Machine before she entered a new deal with Universal Music Group and Republic records. Swifties had previously been anxiously awaiting Reputation (Taylor's Version), though when Swift announced the deal on May 30th, she confirmed that she hadn't even record a quarter of the record yet. 'The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it,' Swift said. Beyond Reputation, Swift has also yet to release a re-recorded version of her debut album. 'Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about,' Swift wrote. 'But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now.' Elsewhere on the chart this week, Morgan Wallen spent a third consecutive week at Number One for I'm The Problem, Seventeen's Happy Burstday debuted at Number 2 with 48,000 units, SZA's SOS came in third and Miley Cyrus's Something Beautiful debuted at Number 4 with 44,000 equivalent album units. Woman Alleges Diddy Traded Rent For Freak Offs

Source: Billboard / Getty In court on Thursday, a woman going by the name 'Jane' said she felt pressured to do sexual things with escorts while music star Diddy watched, because he was paying her $10,000-a-month rent. According to Complex, Jane said things started off great in early 2021, with fancy hotel stays, tropical vacations, and a lot of partying, including taking Ecstasy. By May, she said Diddy asked her to sleep with other men while he watched. They called these nights 'debauchery' or 'hotel nights.' She said the first time it happened was at a hotel in Miami. An escort showed up, and even though she wasn't totally okay with it, she went along because 'my partner was excited, and it was already happening.' When she asked the escort to use a condom, Jane said Diddy told her it wasn't needed because 'they get tested all the time, they're some of the cleanest people.' That night changed everything, she told the court. 'It opened a Pandora's Box in our relationship, it was a door that I was unable to shut.' Jane explained that because Diddy was paying for her rent and lifestyle, she felt stuck and like she had to go along with what he wanted, even if she didn't really want to. Her testimony is part of a bigger case accusing Diddy of serious crimes like sex trafficking and abuse. Diddy has said he didn't do anything wrong, and the trial is still going.
