Hamad Medjedovic became the first player into the men's second round with a 6-3 6-3 7-6(2) win over Kamil Majchrzak and he was joined by local hope Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who hit 12 aces to beat Belgium's Zizou Bergs 4-6 6-3 7-6(5) 6-4.
Musetti had little trouble seeing off qualifier Hanfmann 7-5 6-2 6-0 but American 12th seed Tommy Paul had to overcame a slow start and rain interruptions to beat lucky loser Elmer Moller 6-7(5) 6-2 6-3 6-1.
"It was a weird match from the jump with the wind and the rain on and off, it being a little colder," Rome semi-finalist Paul said.
"He came out playing well, ready to go. I started a little slow, also a little nervous. After that first set, I felt like I was able to loosen up and really start playing my game better."

Wimbledon's human touch yields to electronic eyes
The All England Club's decision to jettison line judges in favour of technology carries an air of inevitability as the world embraces artificial intelligence, but the human arbiters of the boundaries of the tennis court are hoping to continue playing a key role. Convention has almost been a religion during Wimbledon's 148-year history but advancements in technology have been impossible to resist, with live electronic line calling (ELC) set to take over from impeccably attired line judges when action begins at the grass court major on Monday. The tournament's once robust pool of about 300 line judges has been cut to 80 and they will serve as 'match assistants', who support chair umpires and step in should the ELC — powered by more than 450 cameras — fail in any of the 18 courts in use. The Association of British Tennis Officials (Abto) said the new position, which will be adopted at events that use live ELC, provided a fresh avenue for its officials with strong interest expressed in the role. 'While this evolution has resulted in a reduction in the officiating days for line umpires, the effect has been partially offset by the creation of the match assistant position,' the Abto told Reuters via e-mail.

According to Soccer Laduma, the American club has become a serious contender for the services of Mofokeng, who is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects to come out of South Africa in a long time. This follows news that Israeli clubs Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv are also interested. Last week, it was reported that Maccabi Haifa had approached Pirates to enquire about the player and were told they needed to cough up R31 million. However, with the volatile situation in the Middle East, Mofokeng is unlikely to make the move, leaving the United States as a strong possibility.
