Greek winger joins Hearts

The 24-year-old will join the Jambos on a three-year deal in the summer following the expiration of his contract with Slovak top flight side MFK Zemplin Michalovce.
A pacey, direct attacker with an eye for goal, Alexandros has been one of Slovakian football's success
stories, finishing this campaign second top of the Slovak First Football League goalscoring charts. He scored 16 goals in all competitions and can boast of 23 goal involvements in 28 games this season.
Predominantly a left-sided winger, Alexandros is a product of the youth system of Greek giants PAOK and he made his professional debut for fellow Greek outfit Iraklis in 2018/19 before helping Volos retain their Greek Super League status the following year.
He began a two-year spell in Slovakia in 2020, joining FC ViOn Zlate Moravce. His first campaign was a successful one as Alexandros inspired the side to a fifth-place top flight finish, and play-off qualification for a UEFA Conference League spot. Although ViOn were edged out in the final after extra time, Alexandros bagged four goals across the semis and final.
The following season was more challenging as ViOn finished in the league's Relegation Group, but after
avoiding the drop Alexandros was named in the Slovak First Football League's U21 Team of the Season.
His form caught the eye of Debrecen, one of Hungary's most successful clubs, and in 2022/23 he was
on the move. Alexandros' debut campaign in Hungary ended with Debrecen finishing third in the top
league, securing European football qualifiers.
That was followed up in 2023/24 by narrowly missing out, by one league place, on another crack at
Europe, but Alexandros did get his first taste of European football that year as Debrecen navigated
through R2 of Conference League qualifying before being eliminated in R3 by Rapid Vienna.
Slovakia came calling once again and Alexandros returned to the Slovak top flight at the start of this
season with Zemplin Michalovce. Although a finish in the Championship Group would evade
Zemplínčania by only two points, Alexandros has enjoyed a standout season.
Steering them away from the drop and to the top of the Relegation Group and, with it, a play-off place for European qualification. He notched 16 goals in 28 appearances, recorded seven assists, and is second across the entire Slovak top tier for goals scored.
Alexandros now follows in the footsteps of countrymen Takis Fyssas and Christos Karipidis in bringing
Greece to Gorgie, and we look forward to welcoming him to Tynecastle Park in June.

And it seems he's putting that theory into practice when it comes to his own personal preparations too! The Gers boss was spotted out on an early morning run by an eagle-eyed fan this morning just after 9 o'clock, joined by what looks to be assistant coach Mike Williamson. Glasgow Rangers Collection posted pictures on Twitter ( of the manager out jogging in a t-shirt and shorts at 9.20am. Temperatures in Atens at the moment this morning were just under 30 degrees Celsius, with the heat at kick-off (7pm) expected to be 32 degrees. Martin said ahead of the game: 'At this football club you have to try to win every single game. 'I think that has to be the mentality of our team. 'I don't believe in going into something trying to avoid something. 'So we'll work hard to try to win the game and we have to be very, very good to do that. 'I'm looking forward to it.' Martin will be without Thelo Aasgaard and Hamza Igamane, with neither player having travelled to Greece due to fitness issues. Summer signing Aasgaard is understood to have a thigh problem while Igamane, who has been heavily linked with a move to Lille, picked up a knock during his sub appearance in the first leg of this tie. European champions England given a hero's welcome outside Buckingham Palace

Less than 48 hours on from the nerve-shredding penalty shootout in Basel that saw Sarina Wiegman's side retain their European crown, throngs of supporters took over the approach to Buckingham Palace as the team paraded the trophy along the famous route from an open-top bus and revelled in an achievement unique in English football. For the first time since England teams began competing at major international tournaments in 1950, a side bearing the three lions returned home victorious as Chloe Kelly's winning kick capped a stunning fightback against the world champions, making Wiegman's players the first to win a tournament outside of England. Proud 🥹 — Lionesses (@Lionesses) July 29, 2025 It was a fitting intervention that, as the bus arrived from the Mall to a specially-erected stage in front of the palace at around 12:20, an overcast sky over London parted for the first time and bathed the European champions in sunshine. Some supporters had waited for 12 hours for captain Leah Williamson and her team. The earliest devotees reportedly set up camp just after midnight in anticipation of the players' arrival on the Mall just past noon, to be joined by fans who had travelled from all over the country and who represented a cross-section of ages and backgrounds. A carnival atmosphere had been heightened at around 11am when footage was shown on a big screen of England's remarkable route through the tournament. From the disappointment of the loss to France with which they began the defence of their title, to the escapology acts of the knockout stages that saw them fight back from the brink of elimination against Sweden and Italy. The England supporters' band – the soundtrack to so many tournament disappointments throughout decades of England teams returning home empty-handed – were in attendance, underscoring the significance to English football of the Lionesses' back-to-back tournament triumphs. Later, the Central Band of the Royal Air Force took over to serenade the players onto stage with a rendition of 'Sweet Caroline'. Addressing the crowd, a visibly emotional Williamson said: 'Special people, we love each other, we've got each other's back on and off the pitch. 'Everything we do, we do for us and the team but we do it for the country and young girls. This job never existed thirty years ago. This story's not done yet.' The duo you didn't know you needed 😁😁 — Lionesses (@Lionesses) July 29, 2025 Wiegman, who was coaxed into dancing by an on-stage appearance from Afrobeat star Burna Boy, said: 'We just kept hope and belief and (the players) showed up when it was really necessary and urgent. 'There's a huge talent pool in this team. The bonding in this team in this tournament, that made the difference. Everyone was willing to step up and support each other.' Kelly, whose goal in the final moment of extra-time put England through against Italy – before hitting the winning penalty in the final – said: 'Pressure? What pressure? It feels so good to stand side by side with these girls. Thank you to everyone who got out to support us. It's so f*****g special.' Goalkeeper and penalty hero Hannah Hampton said: 'Don't let people tell you what you can and can't do. If it makes you happy go and follow that smile.' Young player of the tournament Michelle Agyemang, whose equalising goals in the quarter-final and semi-final, said: 'It's still surreal. It doesn't even seem real.' The biggest cheer of the day was reserved for when Williamson lifted the European Championship trophy high as Buckingham Palace disappeared behind plumes of red and white smoke and 'Sweet Caroline' echoed again over London.

According to the Northern Echo, Hackney is set to hold talks with Ipswich over personal terms following their successful £20m bid. However, the midfielder's future is still thought to be up in the air, as it is unclear if he will opt for a move to the Tractor Boys or stay put and assess other options. Hackney hasn't been short of suitors over the summer with Premier League clubs like Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham all linked with a switch. While he was even subject to a rejected bid from European giants Porto in January. It's thought that Ipswich are the only club to table an official offer so far this summer. Kieran McKenna's side, who were relegated from the Premier League last term, are said to be willing to offer Hackney £35,000-per-week - a significant pay rise on his terms on Teesside. Should a deal go through, it would become a record fee for a signing by a Championship club - surpassing the £16m Burnley paid for Mike Tresor in 2024. Ipswich have reportedly offered to pay a significant chunk of the £20m fee up front. The rising star has missed some of Boro's pre-season action already through a knee problem and is expected to miss tonight's friendly against Hartlepool United. His current contract at the Riverside Stadium runs until the summer of 2027.
