‘Evil attempt' to malign Hindus rejected: RSS, VHP welcome 2008 Malegaon blast verdict

The Printa day ago
Earlier in the day, a special NIA court in Mumbai while delivering its verdict in the 2008 Malegaon blast case noted that the prosecution failed to provide reliable evidence against the accused.
In a statement released Thursday, RSS's publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar said, 'On the basis of some selfish motives, political selfishness and personal interests, an evil attempt was made to link the entire Hindu dharma and Hindu community to terrorism. With the court's verdict today, all those attempts and allegations have been declared baseless.'
New Delhi: The malicious attempt to link Hindu religion and Hindu society with terror stands rejected, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) said on a special NIA court acquitting all seven accused including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.
'A conspiracy was hatched to defame Hindu society in the Malegaon blast case and 'saffron terror' was coined. This verdict is important because it shows there was no such thing as 'saffron terror', it is not there and it can never be either,' said Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Alok Kumar.
In a statement issued Thursday, Kumar added, 'After losing the game it is unfair to blame the umpire. Everyone should accept the court's verdict. We knew they were innocent since 2008 itself.
'The entire Hindu society was also aware of this. We knew they filed chargesheets against seven Hindu leaders and made a false case. We are happy for the leaders and also for the future of the Hindu community.'
VHP's joint general secretary Surendra Jain took aim at the Congress, saying, 'Today, the conspiracy of the false story of saffron terrorism that Congress had created to save 'jihadi' terrorists has been exposed. All Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi should apologise not only to the Hindu community but to the entire country!'
A similar demand was made by the BJP with senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad demanding an apology from former Congress presidents Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
'P. Chidambaram brought up the issue of what he called 'saffron terrorism', while addressing the annual conference of DGPs and IGPs on 25 August, 2010. It was Sushil Kumar Shinde, who, as Union home minister, talked about 'saffron terrorism' as well. You must also remember how Rahul Gandhi said that Hindu terrorism is more dangerous than Lashkar-e-Taiba,' Prasad said during a press conference Thursday.
The 2008 Malegaon blast case, he said, 'was the first time the term 'saffron terror' was used' and the special NIA court said 'terrorism has no religion, and no religion teaches violence'.

Praniti Shinde Refuses to Apologise for 'Tamasha' Remark on Op Sindoor After PM Modi Takes Dig Congress MP Praniti Shinde's 'Tamasha' comment on Operation Sindoor sparked outrage across party lines, but she's not backing down. Even as PM Modi condemned her remarks as an insult to the 26 lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack, Shinde doubled down: 'We'll apologise 1000 times to the victims' families, but never to the BJP's andh-bhakts and trolls.' Shinde further questioned the lack of transparency in Operation Sindoor, asking how many terrorists were neutralised, whether jets were lost, and what India truly gained. The BJP called her stand disrespectful to the armed forces. #operationsindoor #pranitishinde #tamasharemark #congressvspm #pmmodi #pahalgamattack #loksabhadebate #modivscongress #modivspranitishinde #andhbhakts #bjpcongressclash #indianpolitics #breakingnews #trending #mediaoptics #nationalsecurity #operationmahadev #modispeech #bjpvscongress #parliamentdrama #expungedremark #toi #toibharat #bharat #trending #breakingnews #indianews 9.8K views | 2 days ago

Race intensifies for Jubilee Hills bypoll ticket, Danam ‘throws hat' in ring?

Hyderabad: The race for a ticket to contest the bypoll to the Jubilee Hills constituency has intensified, with even a sitting MLA expressing keen interest in entering the fray. According to sources, turncoat MLA from Khairatabad, Danam Nagender , has sent feelers to the Congress leadership, indicating that if he is fielded for the bypoll, he can ensure party's victory not only in Jubilee Hills but also in Khairatabad constituency. Danam won the Khairatabad seat on a BRS ticket in 2023 and later joined the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. A senior Congress leader stated that there is a high demand for the Jubilee Hills bypoll ticket. "Almost everyone in the Congress is of the opinion that whoever wins the bypoll will be given a cabinet berth. This is because there is currently no minister in the cabinet from Greater Hyderabad. The Congress failed to win any of the 24 seats in Greater Hyderabad during the 2023 assembly election. Though the Congress won the Secunderabad Cantonment seat in a bypoll held along with the Lok Sabha polls, Sri Ganesh is a first-time MLA and was not considered for a cabinet berth. Danam, on the other hand, is a six-term legislator and also served in the cabinet of former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy in the undivided state," said a senior leader. While all of them are still BRS MLAs in the official records of the state assembly, Danam contested the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket, without officially resigning from the BRS. There is a speculation within the ruling party that Danam could be the first among the turncoats to face disqualification if the speaker takes a decision on the legislators. "Contesting from Jubilee Hills will provide a safe alternative to Danam. Also, if he gets the ticket and wins the byelection, he will have the highest scope of making it to the cabinet. He served as a minister in the YS Rajasekhar Reddy govt in the undivided state. But the AICC will finalise the candidate for the bypoll. The Telangana Congress is getting its own surveys conducted to know the strength of various candidates in the race for the ticket," a senior leader said. Meanwhile, on his part, Danam told TOI that he has not sought a ticket. "If the party wants me to contest, I will not only win Jubilee Hills but will also ensure the party wins the Khairatabad constituency, which I currently represent," he said. The bypoll notification is expected in Oct or Nov, along with elections to the Bihar state assembly. Jubilee Hills is a sitting seat of the BRS, and the party is likely to field a family member of Maganti Gopinath, whose death necessitated the bypoll. The bypoll is also prestigious for the BJP, as it will be the first major election for a seat in the assembly under the leadership of the BJP's new state president, Ramchander Rao. Also, the Jubilee Hills seat is part of the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency represented by Union minister G Kishan Reddy.

'Rahul Gandhi told you so in 2018': Congress on ED summoning Anil Ambani; attacks PM Modi

NEW DELHI: With ED summoning industrialist Anil Ambani for alleged loan fraud involving a massive sum, Congress hurled a "Rahul told you so" barb at BJP, asking whether PM Narendra Modi would answer the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi during the row over the Rafale purchase seven years ago. Congress spokesperson and MP Manickam Tagore reposted on X Rahul's post from 2018 in which he had slammed the awarding of the Rafale offsets contract to Anil as cronyism by Modi, saying "the PM and Anil Ambani jointly carried out a Rs 130,000 crore surgical strike on Indian defence forces... you betrayed India's soul." Tagore said, "Then, many laughed, few believed. Now, ED has summoned Anil Ambani in a Rs 17,000 crore loan fraud case, days after raids on his premises. The same Anil Ambani whose debt-ridden firm was picked for the Rafale offset deal - replacing HAL. Will Modi answer now?"
