You won't believe how this teen became Microsoft's youngest cybersecurity star
Microsoft recently featured Dylan in a company blog, calling him one of their youngest and most impressive security researchers. His journey with Microsoft started when he was just 13, collaborating with the Microsoft Security Response Center. Dylan's talent was so remarkable that Microsoft actually changed its Bug Bounty Program rules to allow 13-year-olds to participate, just so he could officially join their community.
What makes Dylan's story even more remarkable is how early his passion for technology began. While most kids were still learning basic coding, Dylan was already exploring the source code of educational platforms in primary school, unlocking games on school computers and bypassing network restrictions during the lockdown. These early experiments might have landed him in trouble, but instead of misusing his skills, he chose a responsible path. He reported a major vulnerability he found in Microsoft Teams, which could let someone take over any group. That moment marked his entry into ethical hacking and responsible disclosure, a world where hackers help companies fix problems instead of exploiting them. Rising through the ranks
Since then, Dylan's achievements have only grown. He has been named to Microsoft's Security Response Center Most Valuable Researcher list twice, in 2022 and again in 2024. Just last summer, he filed 20 vulnerability reports, more than triple his previous total.
In April 2025, Dylan travelled all the way to Redmond, Washington, USA to compete in Microsoft's prestigious Zero Day Quest hacking event. Against some of the best minds in cybersecurity, he secured third place, proving that age is no barrier when it comes to talent and determination.
Despite all these impressive milestones, Dylan still treats cybersecurity as a rewarding hobby. Like many school students, he balances his bug-hunting with studies, family time, and some sports. Microsoft's blog describes him as someone equally interested in science and civics, with plans to attend security conferences and learn from global experts when he's old enough.
Dylan's journey is still unfolding, and it's hard not to wonder what he'll do next. For now, he's just a school student who happens to be on Microsoft's radar, juggling homework and hobbies while quietly making the digital world a little safer for everyone. Maybe next time you're sending a message or logging into a platform, you'll think of the teenager who helped keep things secure, all before finishing school.

Nvidia briefly on track to become world's most valuable company ever
By Noel Randewich and Shashwat Chauhan Nvidia hit a market value of $3.92 trillion on Thursday, briefly putting it on track to become the most valuable company in history, as Wall Street doubled down on optimism about AI. Shares of the leading designer of high-end AI chips rose as much as 2.4% to $160.98 in morning trading, giving the company a higher market capitalization than Apple 's record closing value of $3.915 trillion on December 26, 2024. The shares were last up 1.5% at $159.60, leaving Nvidia's stock market value at $3.89 trillion, just short of Apple's record. Nvidia's newest chips have made gains in training the largest artificial-intelligence models, fueling demand for products by the Santa Clara, California, company. Microsoft is currently the second-most valuable company on Wall Street, with a market capitalization of $3.7 trillion as its shares rose 1.7% to $499.56. Apple rose 0.8%, giving it a market value of $3.19 trillion, in third place. A race among Microsoft, Meta Platforms , Alphabet and Tesla to build AI data centers and dominate the emerging technology has fueled insatiable demand for Nvidia's high-end processors. "When the first company crossed a trillion dollars, it was amazing. And now you're talking four trillion, which is just incredible. It tells you that there's this huge rush with AI spending and everybody's chasing it right now," said Joe Saluzzi, co-manager of trading at Themis Trading. The stock market value of Nvidia, whose core technology was developed to power video games, has increased nearly eight-fold over the past four years, from $500 billion in 2021 to now near $4 trillion. Nvidia is now worth more than the combined value of the Canadian and Mexican stock markets, according to LSEG data. The tech company also exceeds the total value of all publicly listed companies in the United Kingdom. Nvidia recently traded at about 32 times analysts' expected earnings for the next 12 months, below its average of about 41 over the past five years, according to LSEG data. That relatively modest price-to-earnings valuation reflects steadily increasing earnings estimates that have outpaced Nvidia's sizable stock gains. The company's stock has now rebounded more than 68% from its recent closing low on April 4, when Wall Street was reeling from President Donald Trump's global tariff announcements. U.S. stocks, including Nvidia, have recovered on expectations that the White House will cement trade deals to soften Trump's tariffs. Nvidia's swelling market capitalization underscores Wall Street's big bets on the proliferation of generative AI technology, with the chipmaker's hardware serving as the foundation. The sharp increases in the shares of Nvidia and other Wall Street heavyweights have left people who save for their retirements through widely used S&P 500 index funds heavily exposed to the future of AI technology. Nvidia now accounts for 7% of the S&P 500. Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and Alphabet together make up 28% of the index. "I strongly believe that AI is a greatly productive tool, but I am fairly sure that the current delivery of AI via large language models and large reasoning models are unlikely to live up to the hype," cautioned Kim Forrest, chief investment officer at Bokeh Capital Partners. Co-founded in 1993 by CEO Jensen Huang, Nvidia has evolved from a niche company popular among video game enthusiasts into Wall Street's barometer for the AI industry. The stock's recent rally comes after a slow first half of the year, when investor optimism about AI took a back seat to worries about tariffs and Trump's trade dispute with Beijing. Chinese startup DeepSeek in January triggered a selloff in global equities markets with a cut-price AI model that outperformed many Western competitors and sparked speculation that companies might spend less on high-end processors. In November of last year, Nvidia took over the spot on the Dow Jones Industrial Average formerly occupied by chipmaker Intel, reflecting a major shift in the semiconductor industry toward AI-linked development and the graphics processing hardware pioneered by Nvidia.

'Pakistan In A Whirlpool...': Ex-President Links Microsoft Deal Collapse To Regime Change
Last Updated: Stating that Microsoft's decision to shut down operations in Pakistan is a "troubling sign" for the nation's economic future, Arif Alvi links it to regime change in the country. Even as global tech giant Microsoft has decided to close down its operations in Pakistan after 25 years of service in the country as part of its latest mass layoffs of 9,000 employees, Pakistan's former president Arif Alvi said Pakistan is now spiralling into a whirlpool of uncertainty. He added that there is increasing joblessness, talent migration, and a reduction in purchasing power in the country. 'Pakistan now spirals in a whirlpool of uncertainty. There is increasing joblessness, our talent is migrating abroad, purchasing power has reduced, economic recovery in the 'awami' context feels like a distant & elusive dream," said Arif Alvi in a post on X. Stating that Microsoft's decision to shut down operations in Pakistan is a 'troubling sign" for the country's economic future, he linked the company's move to the regime change in the country. 'Microsoft's decision to shut down operations in Pakistan is a troubling sign for our economic future. I vividly recall February 2022, when Bill Gates visited my office. On behalf of the people of Pakistan, I had the honor of conferring the Hilal-e-Imtiaz on him for his remarkable contributions to polio eradication in our country," he added. 'During our discussion, I asked him directly, 'Why isn't Microsoft investing in Pakistan?" He leaned in, sharing in confidence that he had just spoken with PM Imran Khan and arranged a call between the PM and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. In a hushed tone, he asked me to keep it quiet, revealing that 'all is set and within two months, the PM and I will announce a major Microsoft investment in Pakistan," Alvi said. 'But then, everything went rapidly downhill. Regime change upended those plans, and the promise of investment slipped away. By October 2022, Microsoft chose Vietnam for its expansion, a decision in which they had initially favored Pakistan. The opportunity was lost," he added. The only path forward is through political dialogue among stakeholders. Public opinion, as many know, reflects deep disillusionment with the current arrangement & the electoral process. Yet, a vast majority still believes that dialogue is the only way to navigate this crisis, Alvi said. Jawwad Rehman, who set up and led Microsoft's Pakistan unit, informed about Microsoft's decision to close down its operations in the country in a LinkedIn post. According to a Microsoft spokesperson said, 'As a part of regular process of business evaluation and optimization, we are changing our operating model in Pakistan. Our customer agreements and service will not be affected by this change. We will serve our customers through both our strong and extensive partner organization, and other closely located Microsoft offices." We follow this model successfully in a number of other countries around the world. Our customers remain our top priority and can expect the same high level of service going forward, the spokesperson said. On Wednesday, July 2, IT giant Microsoft said it is laying off about 9,000 employees, or 4% of its workforce, in the latest round of job cuts. The latest layoffs are part of Microsoft's restructuring efforts amid AI investments. The company began sending out layoff notices Wednesday. This is the third round of layoffs this year, after about 6,000 jobs cuts (3% of its workforce) in May and over 300 sackings just a week after. In a statement, Microsoft said the cuts will affect multiple teams around the world, including its sales division and its Xbox video game business.

Bad news for Microsoft employees, tech giant sacks 9000 workers in THESE departments, biggest round of layoffs since… Microsoft's job cuts are part of a bigger trend happening across the tech world. Many large tech companies are also laying off workers, even though they're still making good money. By Analiza Pathak Edited by Analiza Pathak Advertisement Microsoft said it will let go of about 9,000 employees, just under 4 percent of everyone who works there, after July 2. It's the company's biggest round of job cuts since 2023. People in many different teams, countries, and job levels will be affected. Reportedly, Microsoft is still making plenty of money. Last quarter, its profit jumped 18 percent to USD 25.8 billion. Even so, company leaders say the organization has become too bulky. They want fewer layers of management and simpler ways of working so they can move faster as technology keeps changing. 'We're making these changes so our teams can succeed in a fast‑moving market,' the company said. Part of a larger shake‑up Including these latest cuts, Microsoft has eliminated more than 15,000 jobs this year; about 6,000 positions were trimmed in May. The newest layoffs will hit sales and customer‑support roles and will also touch the Xbox gaming group. Advertisement === Xbox boss Phil Spencer told his staff that some projects will be scaled back or stopped, and that Microsoft is flattening its management structure to boost speed and efficiency. What this means for the Tech Industry Microsoft's job cuts are part of a bigger trend happening across the tech world. Many large tech companies are also laying off workers, even though they're still making good money. The reason? Most are now focusing heavily on artificial intelligence (AI). Advertisement === Microsoft has already invested billions in building AI tools and systems. CEO Satya Nadella recently said that AI is now writing nearly 30% of the company's code. While Microsoft hasn't said that AI is replacing human jobs, the timing of the layoffs and the company's increasing focus on automation hint at that possibility. These layoffs show that tech jobs are becoming harder to hold onto, even at successful companies. Firms like Microsoft are reshaping their teams to be smaller and more efficient, relying more on technology—especially AI—to do the work that once needed more people.
