Twilight Director Reveals Shocking Gift From Studio
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke and produced by Summit Entertainment, the YA fantasy/romance was impressively filmed in just 44 days, and its limited budget meant that shooting certain scenes was pretty much impossible. For example, they simply couldn't afford to use a lot of CGI, and so they were unable to include multiple shots of the Cullens sparkling in the sun.
Nevertheless, many Twilight fans view the OG film as the best* of the franchise, which also includes New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn - Part 1, and Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
But in spite of the film's success, director Catherine recently claimed that she was given an insultingly small gift by the studio following its release.
Speaking out in an interview with The Guardian this week, Catherine recalled, 'I walked into a room with all these gifts, and everybody was congratulating the studio, and they gave me a box. I opened it up, and it was a mini cupcake.'
Catherine said that male directors are often given things like a 'car or a three-picture deal' when they produce huge successes, which made her gift all the more shocking. She recalled thinking, 'No, people aren't going to hire more women directors. They're not going to give you the next job and let you do something great. It was an earth-shattering reality right away.'
Reacting to Catherine's revelation, it's safe to say that several internet users were appalled. 'Mini cupcakes? As in the mini version of regular cupcakes? Which is already a mini version of a cake? Honestly, where does it end with you people?' one person wrote. Another said, 'It surprised the studio guys who routinely underestimate movies for women and especially girls. And then what? Oh thanks honey, have a cupcake (a mini one, because you've got to watch your figure), but now that we know this is a guaranteed cash cow, we'll take it from here.'
Let me know what you think in the comments. You can find Catherine's full interview with The Guardian here.

Ice-T sparks concern with 'Law & Order: SVU' injury gag
Ice-T may be in need of an ice pack, or at least his TV counterpart Detective Fin does. The Grammy-winning rapper and actor, who stars as Odafin Tutuola on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," teased his return to the long-running crime drama in a playful Instagram post on July 31. Ice-T, who joined the iconic NBC series in 2000, shared a photo of his character sporting a gnarly black eye and cut lip. "Back filming SVU and the first scene I shoot…." Ice-T wrote in the post's caption, using an expletive before quickly reassuring fans, "It's in the script." Viewers won't have to wait long to see what crime-fighting adventures Det. Fin and the rest of the "SVU" gang, which includes show leads Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, have been up to in the streets of New York City. Season 27 of "SVU" is expected to launch on Sept. 25 alongside the Season 25 premiere of flagship series "Law & Order," according to the official NBC website. New episodes will air on Thursdays and be available to stream on Peacock the following day. During an October 2024 interview with The Guardian, Ice-T, who initially made a name for himself in the rap scene of the late 1980s and early '90s, reflected on his unlikely "Law & Order" stint after appearing in crime dramas such as "New Jack City," "Mean Guns" and "Sonic Impact." "They called me to do four episodes, and it just kept on giving, 25 years later," Ice-T, 67, told the British outlet. "Hip-hop was doing this paradigm shift away from acts like me, Public Enemy and Ice Cube into this weird other world where I wouldn't have survived." He added, "So, maybe it was like a lifeboat pulling up next to me. Like, OK: Time for you to change your main hustle. It's been a good ride, and it keeps me contained — when you're a musician and only a musician, you got a lot of free time, and that free time can get you in trouble." Ice-T and Pink Floyd: Rapper says band gave rare approval for 'Comfortably Numb' sample Ice-T's black eye photo prompts playful concern on social media In the comments section, Ice-T's realistic "SVU" make-up for his character's injury had some of the rapper-actor's famous peers reaching for their own emergency alert. "Man, before I read the caption, I was about to come to the house with Uncle Tony 😂❤️," Premium Pete wrote. "OG! I immediately start thinkin', 'Oh ... We about to crash out,' " Big Court commented. "I ain't about to post what went through my mind. 🤦🏾 Glad it's make-up though. 😂😂😂" 'Law & Order: SVU': These 2 cast members won't be back next season "Had me worried for a second — excellent work by the makeup team," Alycia Miller wrote. "I am glad it's just for SVU! ❤️" "Was getting ready to launch missiles..🫡," King T wrote, while Edwin Robinson II added, "I was about to send the prayer angels down… 😂😂😂"

Elton John Gets Druid With It in ‘Stonehenge' Remake Video From ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues'
The band is fake, but the cameo is real. Elton John makes a hilarious pop-in for an updated version of Spinal Tap's iconic tribute to the place where demons dwell, banshees wail and children dance to the pipes of pan in a just-released video for 'Stonehenge.' The single appears on the soundtrack album, The End Continues, a companion to the upcoming sequel to the OG mockumentary, 1984's This Is Spinal Tap. The 13-track LP, due out alongside the film, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, on Sept. 12, features a return to some of the farcical band's most beloved tracks with help from John ('Flower People'), Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood ('Big Bottom') and Sir Paul McCartney ('Cups and Cakes'). 'Stonehenge! Where the demons dwell/ Where the banshees live and they do live well/ Stonehenge! Where a man's a man/ And the children dance to the Pipes of Pan,' John sings over the song's prog rock thunder and unnecessary series of instrumental solos. Whether he's singing about crying dew drops or cats meowing, John capably rocks the arena, except this time, instead of the embarrassingly puny 18-inch recreation of the iconic prehistoric megalithic stone structures in rural England from the original film, the band's crew got the proportions right and a massive, 18-foot-high rock arch descends from the rafters in time for mandolin and gong solos. John totally got into the spirit of the bit on Instagram, writing, 'This was a blast, rocking out with @spinaltap for their new movie, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, and re-recording their epic 'Stonehenge' – this one is best played at volume 11!' Along with the returns of the four Tap classics, the album will also feature nine new songs with predictably laughable titles, including: 'Let's Just Rock Again,' 'Brighton Rock,' 'The Devil's Just Not Getting Old,' 'Rockin' in the Urn' and 'Blood to Let.' When the movie hits screens in September, director Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner) will be back in the fold to crank the joke amps up one louder, along with guitarist/singer David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), bassist Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) and Polymer Records publicist Bobbi Fleckman (Fran Drescher). There will also be cameos from McCartney, John, Brooks and Yearwood, the Roots' Questlove and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Metallica timekeeper Lars Ulrich. Twilight 's Nikki Reed Has Worn the Same Clothes Every Day for 15 Years
Originally appeared on E! Online Nikki Reed's sustainable fashion journey has been a saga all its own. The Twilight alum revealed her focus on extending the life of her clothes has impacted her style choices and, it seems, nearly eliminated her need to stress over what to wear. 'I wear the same clothes every day,' Nikki said on the July 28 episode of the The Art of Being Well With Dr. Will Cole podcast. 'I've got vintage pants on and they've got a bunch of holes. And if I were to turn around and show you my butt pockets, you would see that my mom helps me patch the back of them because I wear the same pants.' That fashion mindset encompasses her footwear, too. 'I'm wearing my same shoes right now that I've worn for 15 years,' Nikki added. 'I just got them resoled. I resole them every three years, because I wear the same shoes every day.' As she put it, 'We live in a culture of more and more and more. And I don't want more. I want less, but I want good.' The 37-year-old—who shares an 8-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son with husband Ian Somerhalder—also shared the considerations she makes when determining if an addition to her closet is 'good.' 'Before I purchase anything at all, I think about where it's made, how it's made, and how long I'm going to wear it.' The BaYou with Love jewelry founder also noted that this focus on sustainability is her 'true passion,' and is actually one of the reasons she and Ian decided to leave their acting careers behind. 'I don't even often hear the word 'Hollywood' or 'actress' anymore at all in my orbit,' Nikki explained. 'It's just been so, so long. I really am a nature gal, an animal gal. I would much rather be barefoot walking through soil than in high heels anywhere.' Indeed, the Thirteen star has made it a point to be open about where the hell she's been, loca. 'I can't personally envision a life without that connection to plants and soil,' Nikki told E! News last May. 'In this day and age, we're getting closer and closer to falling into full tech worlds. No matter how hard we try to shelter our kids from that, we're growing up in the age of tech, and I think the only way to really combat that is through nature.' She added, 'Getting back into the rhythm of the earth and getting our kids outdoors in a world where we're all living indoors, in front of screens and blue light everywhere, we need some red light. We need some sun, we need some fresh air.' Read on for more stars who have left Hollywood for other pursuits.
