The Wild controlled possession for 58 per cent of the match. The Tides outshot the hosts 13-9, but Calgary led 4-3 in on-target shots.
The Wild took eight corners compared to the Tides' seven, and the visitors took three of the match's four yellow cards.

Son Heung-min unveiled at LAFC press event; blockbuster signing reportedly sets MLS record
LOS ANGELES — It's always Sonny in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Football Club officially unveiled Son Heung-min, their reportedly record-breaking signing, at a press conference at BMO Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 6. "I'm here to win, I will perform. I will definitely show you something exciting," Son said. Son, 33, is considered to be arguably the greatest Asian soccer player ever, having appeared for South Korea 134 times (scoring 51 goals). In a decade with Tottenham, Son scored 173 goals and added 101 assists, captaining the London-based club to its first trophy in 17 years as Spurs won the 2024-25 Europa League final in May. The now-former Tottenham star noted that LAFC was not originally his first choice when moving from the north London side, but was convinced by LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington. "I honestly and openly share what this club is about," Thorrington said at the press conference. "I ask: 'Does this match with your ambition?' and in this case ... it has." Son is one of the highest profile signings in the club's – and arguably league – history following the footsteps of Carlos Vela, Gareth Bale and Olivier Giroux into the Hollywood spotlight. Thorrington said the move was nine years in the making. "What I call the walking paradox that is Sonny, that is this unbelievably charismatic guy but matched with his humility that he walks around with, and his patience, that's what we aspire to be," Thorrington said. The fee LAFC shelled out to seal his move to MLS is to be the largest in league history, according to multiple reports. While MLS clubs have rarely been willing to share exact transfer fees, GiveMeSport reported Aug. 5 that the transfer will surpass Emmanuel Latte Lath's move to Atlanta United this past winter for $22 million. ESPN and The Athletic reported ahead of the announcement that the fee would be at least $26 million, which would mark a new transfer fee record for the league. "Already, many Korean fans are posting on social media asking how to buy LAFC season tickets or inquiring about the match schedule." Photos published by Agance France-Presse show fans lining up at Los Angeles International Airport at the rumored time of arrival for Son, with one sign reading "Welcome to LA" in Korean. Daniel Park, a native of South Korea who was already in the country on a business trip but took time to visit BMO Stadium just before the press conference, described Son as a celebrity who transcended sports. Beyond his success on the field, Son is a behemoth in the advertising world. Adidas, Burberry, Calvin Klein and Tumi have all named Son a brand ambassador and launched major ad campaigns around him, while he is one of just five soccer players to have a custom character "skin" in one of the most popular video games in the world, Fortnite. Scherzer, Springer lead Blue Jays to 7-3 win over Pirates
Max Scherzer pitched six strong innings to notch his 220th career win, and George Springer hit an early two-run home run as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3 on Tuesday night. Scherzer (4-2) allowed one run and four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. The 18-year veteran has pitched at least six innings in five consecutive starts. The Blue Jays (74-53) built a 5-0 lead against Mitch Keller in the first two innings. Springer hit a 423-foot shot to center field for his 20th homer of the season in the second inning. The Blue Jays scored three runs in the first when Alejandro Kirk had an RBI single and Nathan Lukes followed with a two-run single. Kirk added a two-run home run, his 10th, off Colin Holderman in the seventh inning to make 7-1. The All-Star catcher finished with three hits and three RBIs. Keller (5-12) was tagged for five runs in 3 1/3 innings after giving up six runs in four innings in a loss at National League-leading Milwaukee in his previous start last Wednesday. The Pirates lost for the eighth time in 10 games as they fell deeper into the NL Central basement. Blue Jays All-Star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sat out because of tightness in his left hamstring. An MRI performed earlier Tuesday revealed no damage. The Blue Jays are 25-13 in interleague games, tops in the major leagues. Pittsburgh Riverhounds announce South Shore stadium expansion, boosting capacity to 15,000
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will expand their South Shore stadium, increasing capacity to 15,000. The expansion will allow the stadium to meet U.S. Soccer's Pro League Standards for Division One sanctioning, and it would position the Riverhounds to be included in the United Soccer League's upcoming Division One professional men's league, set to launch in 2028. The stadium upgrades will include more premium seating, a club with banquet space and suites, enhancing the venue's ability to host additional sports and entertainment events. 'This expansion is going to be great for our fans and allow us to take our teams to the level we want to reach,' said Riverhounds owner Tuffy Shallenberger. 'It's also going to bring additional events here that will help the entire Pittsburgh community.' The Riverhounds report significant growth in recent years, with sold-out home matches and an annual attendance growth rate of 11% from 2021 to 2024. Ticket revenue has grown 26% annually since 2021, and the season ticket base nearly doubled over the past three years. The addition of the Pittsburgh Riveters, the club's women's team in the USL W League, has further energized the fan base, officials say. In their first season, the Riveters hosted 28,138 fans for six games, with their inaugural match drawing over 6,000 attendees. Currently, the South Shore stadium hosts six NCAA varsity teams and has been the venue for numerous large events, including the annual WPIAL Soccer Championships and the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival. It is set to host the 2027 NCAA Division III Soccer Championships. The expansion is expected to attract almost 500,000 people annually, with a significant portion of attendees coming from outside the area, officials say.
