Initiated work toward our second generation of Footprint goals, including tracking our GHG emissions performance against an absolute reduction target of 30%, which is equivalent to 10,000 metric tons (MT), by 2034.
Reduced 950 MT of CO2, a result of new investments in renewable energy, system upgrades and equipment efficiencies, and broadening awareness of energy reduction targets across Watts sites.
Reduced our hazardous waste intensity by 16%, a result of investments and process innovations at Watts sites that are the highest producers of hazardous waste.
Built on a decade of data collection and water reduction initiatives across sites, we achieved a 62% reduction in water intensity between 2018 and 2023. In 2024, we began tracking our water intensity against our consolidated baseline, reducing over 600,000 liters of water. Meeting our aggressive water reduction target will require even more innovation and capital investments.
Completed Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for 100% of products in our largest facility in Franklin, NH, USA, which means more than 7,500 Watts products are now covered by LCAs. We also initiated LCAs for all products in our BLÜCHER facility to be completed by the end of 2025.

Met Opera attendance dropped in spring as tourism fell, coinciding with immigration crackdown

(AP Photo/Kathy Willens, File) NEW YORK — Metropolitan Opera season attendance dropped slightly following the Trump administration's immigration crackdown that coincided with a decrease in tourists to New York. The Met sold 72% of capacity, matching 2023-24 and down from its 75% projection. 'We were on track to continue to improve,' Met general manager Peter Gelb said Friday. 'We were disappointed by the sales in the last two months of the season — our projections were much higher and I attribute the fact that we didn't achieve our sales goals to a significant drop in tourism." New York City Tourism & Conventions last month reduced its 2025 international visitor projection by 17%, the Met said. International buyers accounted for 11% of sales, down from the Met's projection of 16% and from about 20% before the coronavirus pandemic. 'It's unfortunate, but this is the times in which we live,' Gelb said. The Met said factoring ticket discounts, it realized 60% of potential income, down from 64% in 2023-24 but up from 57% in 2022–23. 'We were able to sell an equal amount of tickets the last year, but there were more discounted tickets,' Gelb said. 'This really was the result of the last two months of the season.' There were 76,000 new ticket buyers, a drop from 85,000 in 2023-24, and the average age of single ticket buyers was 44, the same as in the previous season and a drop from 50 before the pandemic. Subscriptions accounted for just 7% of ticket sales, down from 12-15% before the pandemic, Gelb said economic uncertainty impacted sales for next season. 'The stock market jumping up and down made people feel insecure,' he said. 'In one week we saw an enormous decline in our advance for next season. Then it picked up again.' Met music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin earned $2,045,038 in the year end last July 31, up from $1,307,583, in the previous fiscal year, according to the company's tax return released Friday. Gelb earned $1,395,216, roughly the same as his $1,379,032 in 2022-23,and he also accrued $798,205 listed as retirement or deferred compensation. Assets declined by about $40 million to $467 million, primarily because of an endowment draw following the pandemic. Among individual productions last season, the highest percentage of tickets sold were for the English-language version of Mozart's 'The Magic Flute' and a new staging of Verdi's 'Aida,' both at 82%, followed by the company premiere of Jake Heggie's 'Moby-Dick' at 81% Other new productions included Strauss' 'Salome' (74%), John Adams' 'Antony and Cleopatra' (65%), Osvaldo Golijov's 'Ainadamar' (61%) and Jeanine Tesori's 'Grounded' (50%). The best-selling revivals were Puccini's 'Tosca' (78%), Tchaikovsky's 'Pique Dame (The Queen of Spades)' and Puccini's La Bohème (77% each), Beethoven's 'Fidelio' and Rossini's 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia' (76% each) and Mozart's 'Le Nozze di Figaro' (71%). Lagging were Strauss' 'Die Frau ohne Schatten' (68%0, Verdi's 'Rigoletto' (64%), Offenbach's 'Les Contes d'Hoffmann' and the German-language version of Mozart's 'Die Zauberflöte' (62% each) and Verdi's 'Il Trovatore' (59%). EU trade surplus with U.S. grows in April despite tariffs

European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic arrives for a meeting of EU trade ministers at the European Council building in Brussels, Thursday, May 15, 2025. (AP Photo/Omar Havana) BRUSSELS — The European Union's goods trade surplus with the United States expanded in April even after U.S. tariffs, data released on Friday showed, while the bloc's exports to China dropped for a ninth consecutive month. The EU's surplus in goods trade as a whole declined to 7.4 billion euros (US$8.5 billion) from 12.7 billion euros in April 2024, data from EU statistics agency Eurostat showed. The EU goods surplus with the United States increased, as it has done every month since January 2024. Both exports to and imports from the United States increased for a fourth consecutive month in April, although the growth was lower than in previous months. U.S. President Donald Trump has announced wideranging tariffs on trade partners, and wants to reduce the U.S. goods trade deficit with the EU. In March, EU exports to the U.S. rose by 59.5 per cent, implying U.S. importers were building stocks of EU and other goods ahead of tariff increases. European Union exporters faced 25 per cent tariffs on steel and aluminum from March 11, on cars from April 3 and on car parts from May 3. Washington doubled the rate on metals to 50 per cent on June 4. It also imposed so-called 'reciprocal' tariffs on most EU goods on April 5, initially at 20 per cent, but almost immediately cut to 10 per cent until July 8. The bloc's surpluses with Britain, Switzerland and Mexico fell, while its deficits with China, Norway and South Korea widened in April. EU exports of machinery and vehicles to the rest of the world fell by 4.3 per cent. There were also declines of its exports of raw materials and energy products, while food and drink and chemicals exports were higher than in April 2024. --- US$1 = 0.8681 euros Reporting by Philip Blenkinsop; Editing by Toby Chopra

Verizon Gains Momentum in the Wireless Vertical: Will it Persist?

Verizon Communications, Inc. VZ is witnessing significant 5G adoption and fixed wireless broadband momentum. In the first quarter of 2025, the company recorded 2.4 million wireless retail postpaid gross ads and 3.6 million wireless postpaid upgrades. Verizon's 5G network is built upon three fundamental drivers to deliver the full potential of next-generation wireless technology. These include massive spectrum holdings, particularly in the millimeter-wave bands for faster data transfer, end-to-end deep fiber resources and the ability to deploy a large number of small cells. The company is steadily accelerating the availability of 5G Ultra-Wideband network across the country. It holds a total of 2,035 MHz of spectrum with the acquisition of C-band spectrum. The C-band spectrum offers greater coverage for 5G networks and greater speeds than on low-band spectrum and paves the way to provide differentiated service of 5G Ultra-Wideband service to millions of customers. The company has formed several strategic partnerships to boost its 5G capability. It has collaborated with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies to demonstrate a remarkable 480 Mbps uplink speed using sub-6 GHz spectrum. Faster uplink speed is critical for a wide range of use cases such as AI-driven applications, smart surveillance and industrial automation, augmented reality and more. The company also achieved an impressive download speed of 5.5 Gbps utilizing carrier aggregation and 5G virtualization. Verizon collaborated with Samsung Electronics and MediaTek during this venture. Such an initiative is expected to boost Verizon's competitive edge in the highly saturated U.S. wireless industry. How Are Competitors Faring? Verizon faces competition from T-Mobile, US, Inc. TMUS and AT&T, Inc. T in the wireless industry. T-Mobile boasts a strong position in the 5G market. The company's 5G network covers 98% or 330 million people in the country. T-Mobile continues to deploy 5G with the mid-band 2.5 GHz spectrum from Sprint. The 2.5 GHz provides fast delivery, superfast speeds and extensive coverage with signals that go through walls and trees, unlike 5G networks, which are controlled by the mmWave spectrum. AT&T is also aggressively expanding its 5G network, currently covering 295 million people nationwide. Its 5G service entails the utilization of millimeter wave spectrum for deployment in dense pockets, while in suburban and rural areas, the company intends to deploy 5G on mid and low-band spectrum holdings. AT&T 5G+ utilizes high-band spectrum to provide super-fast speed and is more responsive to the most demanding apps and services, making it ideal for high-traffic areas and large-scale venues and airports. The 5G+ is expected to drive customer addition in the long run.
