Stacey Solomon's £1 hack gets rid of mould on your bathroom sealant

Daily Record13-05-2025

This cheap and effective tip will have your shower and bath looking brand new again
Stacey Solomon has let us in on a cheap trick for removing bathroom sealant mould, in an easy and quick way. The TV personality shared the hack during an episode of her show - Sort Your Live Out - which aired on BBC One.
During the fourth episode of season one, Stacey visited a home in Manchester with her cleaning team team to help mum, Cherelle, and courier Tony, dispose of clutter and clean their home.

Cherelle and Tony, who are parents to four children and had only been living in their home for three years however every single room was rammed with toys and cluttered with their belongings.

With two toddlers, and a set of twins in the house, the parents confessed they had no time to organise their home. As Cherelle confessed: "I feel with every child, we have accumulated more. There's just no order, there's no structure. Everything is everywhere. I've got clothes in the kitchen, I've got birth certificates in the laundry room."
While the rest of the team tackled the clutter and organised the house, cleaning expect Iwan Carrington went to the bathroom to share a "really easy" mould removal tip.
The expert drew attention to the mould growing on the bath sealant, expressing: "All you need to do is get some neat bleach and then just run a line of it along that sealant."
He then covered the area with cotton wool balls to keep the cleaning product in place.

Telling the audience what to do next, he said: "We are going to leave this overnight, and by the morning they've had a nice little party together and it's all going to be back to lovely and white."
Victoria Plum explained that the adhesive is typically used in bathrooms and kitchens as it works as a waterproof seal between tiles, appliances, and flooring.
However the lack of proper ventilation can quickly lead to mould developing on the sealant, which is worse in bathrooms that are always have moisture in the air from people using the bath and shower.

You can purchase a pack of 100 cotton wool balls for £1.50 from Sainsbury's or for as cheap as £1 from Poundland. Make sure to add it to your next shopping list.
Iwan next directed his attention towards the toilet, revealing a 'hidden button' that is often overlooked by many homeowners. He said: "There's one area in toilets that does get quite grotty if you don't often get to it and it is underneath these metal hinges. If you've got this button on your toilet seat, the whole seat should just pop off"

The expert then removed the metal hinges and showing the large amount of dirt that was sitting, hidden away.
He added: "This is where all that hidden dirt is. You can use your toilet cleaner or some vinegar to clean it. I'm going to scrub it away with an old toothbrush."
"Ensure the toothbrush goes back to its rightful place because I wouldn't want to brush my teeth with that one, I can verify," he joked.

The actress took to her Instagram as she showed off her impressive five-stone weight loss. 6 6 Lorraine Stanley, 48, is best known for her role as Karen Taylor in the hit BBC One soap. She made her EastEnders debut in 2017 before departing the long-running serial drama in 2024. Since then, the actress has undergone a huge transformation as she now looks almost unrecognisable from her alter-ego. The star took to her social media page as she flaunted her slim physique. She sported a slimming flower print crop top and trousers combo as she partied the night away at a special bingo event. Underneath the tied top, she sported a skin-tight white vest which only emphasised her tiny waist. For shoes, Lorraine opted for complimentary open-toe leather platform strapped heels for the occasion. Alongside flaunting her slim physique, the star also opened up on a huge new milestone in her life. She captioned the snap: "5 months sober & still had a good night dancing! #Sobriety." Lorraine added: "@Bingobangouk @thegaietysouthsea thanks for having us." EastEnders legend reveals secret to five stone weight loss The actress was written out of Eastenders in 2023 after seven years on the show in a huge shock to fans. Her character's axing was as part of a shock cast shake-up and her final scenes were aired in December of that year. She went onto reprise her fan-favourite role a number of times in 2024 before her last episode hit BBC screens in June. Since her exit, she has faced speculation over her dramatic weight loss transformation. EastEnders stars who QUIT MICHELLE Collins has seen her second EastEnders stint boost her bank balance. Yet what stars have quit this year? The Sun exclusively reported how Michelle, 62, was down to £20,000 in her company accounts when she agreed to a shock back-from-the-dead return to Albert Square last year. Her character, Cindy Beale, was presumed dead off-camera in 1998. Yet what about the 2024 exits? Earlier this summer, loyal soap fans appeared to note how Stevie Mitchell had "quit" the long-running series. It came after Alan Ford enjoyed just six-months on-screen. Bobby Beale actor Clay Milner Russell also left this year after five years in Walford. Fans also feared Martin Fowler actor James Bye would "quit out of boredom" over recent storylines. Additionally, a host of stars have quit the BBC soap for Hollywood fame. One of the most successful stars to come from the BBC One soap is Rob Kazinsky. He played Stacey Slater's brother Sean Slater from 2006 to 2009, he has starred in Hollywood blockbusters Pacific Rim and Captain Marvel. Ben Hardy, who quit EastEnders as Bobby Beale almost a decade ago, went on to break Hollywood the following year, when he starred as Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse. Since then, he has played Roger Taylor in Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, and he starred in Michael Bay 's Netflix movie 6 Underground. Michelle Ryan played Zoe Slater until 2005. She starred as the lead in short-lived American series Bionic Woman from 2007 to 2008. However, Lorraine admitted it was not down to popular jabs like Ozempic or Mounjaro. Instead, Lorraine opted for the more traditional gastric sleeve operation. 6 6 6 6

Antiques Roadshow expert notices detail on guest's jewellery and it's 'bad news'

Antiques Roadshow expert John Benjamin was on hand to deliver a valuation on a pair of drop earrings and a sapphire ring On Sunday's Antiques Roadshow, expert John Benjamin gave two hopeful guests some disappointing news at the stunning Wollaton Hall in Nottingham. The episode featured locals bringing in their treasures, with a pair of guests presenting family Art Deco jewellery for valuation. At first glance inside an old tin, John discovered exquisite platinum drop earrings and a sapphire ring. ‌ One of the guests related the tale of his mother receiving the jewels from a friend, who was acquainted with a man with connections to France. ‌ John, upon closer inspection, found a significant alteration: "Someone who has owned these in their history has taken them to a jeweller and said: 'I'm not sure if I like the fittings!' "So what they've done is they've removed the original fittings from the back and they've soldered on these long gold sort of posts with nine carat gold screw fittings at the end", reports Edinburgh Live. ‌ While examining the ring, John revealed a surprising fact about its authenticity, revealing: "Here's an interesting point, in the 1920s, when that was made, synthetic rubies and sapphires were beginning to appear on the market." He delivered the blow when he declared: "The sapphires on the shoulders in the ring are actually synthetic. They're not real. So, there we are." During the valuation, he revealed: "Here's the bad news, those drops, today, if they were having the original fittings on them. I think would be worth between £4,000 and £5,000. ‌ "But because the fittings have been changed, I think we've got to now drop that price to probably £2,500 to £3,000 simply because of a clumsy conversion." Regarding the sapphire ring, he estimated: "The ring about £1500." ‌ This led to one of the guests quipping: "How much is the box worth?" which prompted John to respond with a chuckle: "Priceless, absolutely priceless the box!" In another segment, art expert Rupert Maas appraised a monochrome painting of Princess Daisy of Pless, an icon of Edwardian high society. ‌ The owner explained how her father had found the artwork in a Watford junk shop for a mere £13.50. Rupert encouraged her to keep it on display, especially after revealing its surprising value of £2,000 to £3,000. The owner was shocked, saying: "Really? Gosh! I was thinking you were going to say a couple of hundred," to which Rupert acknowledged it wasn't a huge sum but definitely a significant increase from what was paid. Antiques Roadshow continues on Sundays at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
