Ryan (8-3) allowed three hits in six innings, struck out eight and walked none to help Minnesota end a six-game home skid, its longest at Target Field since an eight-game slide from April 27 to May 20, 2016. Ryan has allowed one run or none in nine of 15 starts. Advertisement Jhoan Duran, reaching 100 mph with three pitches, got three straight outs for his 11th save in 13 chances, combining with Louis Varland and Griffin Jax for hitless relief. Byron Buxton singled in the sixth off George Kirby (1-4), advanced on a groundout and scored on Castro's single. Clemens homered in the seventh off Eduard Bazardo as Minnesota (38-42) won for the second time in 13 games. Kirby allowed one run and three hits in six innings. Seattle (41-38) had won three in a row. Houston starter Colton Gordon (3-1) allowed four singles and struck out four in five innings. Josh Hader struck out one in the ninth for his 21st save. Advertisement Jeremy Peña hit a leadoff ground-rule double and scored on a groundball single by Isaac Paredes to give Houston an early lead. Houston's pitching staff had retired nine straight when Brandon Marsh singled to right field off Bryan King with one out in the eighth. Trea Turner's single on a grounder to center field sent Marsh to third before Kyle Schwarber singled on an infield grounder to load the bases. But, King struck out Alec Bohm before Nick Castellanos grounded out to leave Philadelphia emptyhanded. Caratini's solo shot came with two outs in the bottom of the inning to give the Astros an insurance run. Advertisement Wednesday's win comes after the Astros got a 1-0 victory in Tuesday's series opener. Philadelphia starter Zack Wheeler (7-3) yielded four hits and a run while striking out eight in six innings. The Phillies had runners on first and second with one out in the fifth, but Gordon struck out Marsh and Turner to end the threat. Jake Meyers sprinted to make a catch on the warning track in center field on a ball hit by Bryson Stott for the second out of the seventh inning. Rivals' Sam Spiegelman projected Tuesday, though, that it's only a matter of time until the program has eight 2026 recruits pledged. "Four-star TE Carson Sneed has been committed in-state to the Volunteers for nearly a year, but there is a strong expectation that this will not carry over too much longer," wrote Spiegelman. The tight end officially visited three other schools this spring. All three programs have made inroads with the prospect. "Sneed logged official visits to North Carolina, Ole Miss and Florida -- and our intel points to the Gators leading the charge to flip the blue-chipper. Losing a top 10 in-state recruit, especially to a rival, if Sneed lands with the Florida Gators, would be a tough pill for Tennessee to swallow. Overall, Sneed, who is a Nashville, Tennessee native, is the No. 265 prospect in the 2026 class.
