The Tennessee Volunteers have just nine commitments in the 2026 recruiting class. Rivals' Sam Spiegelman projected Tuesday, though, that it's only a matter of time until the program has eight 2026 recruits pledged.

The recruiting analyst predicted four-star tight end Carson Sneed will de-commit and play his college career elsewhere.
"Four-star TE Carson Sneed has been committed in-state to the Volunteers for nearly a year, but there is a strong expectation that this will not carry over too much longer," wrote Spiegelman.
The tight end officially visited three other schools this spring. All three programs have made inroads with the prospect.
"Sneed logged official visits to North Carolina, Ole Miss and Florida -- and our intel points to the Gators leading the charge to flip the blue-chipper. Sneed also has family ties to Chapel Hill and a high level of interest in the Rebels.

"We do not expect him to wind up playing in Rocky Top."

Losing Sneed would be a significant blow for the Volunteers. The tight end is the fifth-highest ranked recruit, according to 247Sports, committed to Tennessee in the 2026 class.
Sneed is also the only tight end pledged to the Volunteers for 2026.
Based on the 247Sports Composite rankings, Sneed is the 14th-ranked tight end and No. 8 Tennessee prospect in the 2026 class. Losing a top 10 in-state recruit, especially to a rival, if Sneed lands with the Florida Gators, would be a tough pill for Tennessee to swallow.
Overall, Sneed, who is a Nashville, Tennessee native, is the No. 265 prospect in the 2026 class.

Peterka trade between the Buffalo Sabres and Utah Mammoth will leave many fans scratching their heads. Advertisement On Wednesday night, multiple reports indicated that the Mammoth and Sabres had agreed to a swap of players, with Peterka heading to Utah and forward Josh Doan and defenseman Michael Kesselring heading to Buffalo. Immediately after, it was reported that Peterka agreed to a five-year contract with the Mammoth worth $7.7 million annually. Peterka, 23, scored a career-high 68 points this season in addition to 27 goals. The young German isn't much of a power play producer and is equal parts defensive liability and speed demon. All in all, Peterka is a buccaneering player with some warts, but also dynamite offensive potential that allows him to turn games on their heads in a flash - literally. Advertisement Peterka had previously been linked to Philadelphia in some very recent Flyers trade rumors, though the price was said to be too great. Doan will become a good middle-six winger at his peak, though his true ceiling in terms of production remains questionable. Kesselring is who he is: a big, 6-foot-5 right-shot defender, which the Sabres need, and a player with good underlying analytics at that. Regardless of if it's Tippett or Peterka, the Flyers, now led by a new voice in Rick Tocchet, still need to find ways to coax more consistency out of their rush-dependent forwards. If they can't, it doesn't matter which players they trade for and how cheap they came on the NHL trade market.
