An Akshaya Centre employee was arrested in Neyyattinkara after she forged a NEET hall ticket for a student whose application she had failed to submit despite accepting payment.
A heartbreaking case of negligence and fraud surfaced in Kerala, where a young NEET aspirant's future was derailed by the carelessness of a local Akshaya Centre employee who forged a hall ticket to cover up her own mistake. The police on Monday arrested the Akshaya Centre employee in Neyyattinkara after she forged a NEET hall ticket for a student whose application she had failed to submit despite accepting payment.
The student, who aspired to become a veterinary doctor, was caught at an exam centre in Pathanamthitta with a fake admit card, unaware he had been handed a fake document just hours earlier.
The accused, identified as Greeshma, a 20-year-old resident of Thirupuram, worked at an Akshaya Centre in Neyyattinkara, Thiruvananthapuram. According to a report by The Times of India, Greeshma accepted Rs 1,850 from the student's mother, who works as a sanitation worker, for submitting the NEET application. But she failed to complete the process and, in a desperate attempt to cover her tracks, fabricated a fake hall ticket.
Greeshma reportedly told police that she assumed the student wouldn't actually travel to Pathanamthitta to write the exam. She admitted that after missing the application deadline, she found details of a centre at Thaikkavu Vocational Higher Secondary School through a Google search and inserted them into the forged ticket. She used the credentials of another student to generate the document, mistakenly thinking the deception would go unnoticed.
However, the scam unraveled at the examination centre after invigilators became suspicious upon finding mismatched details in the hall ticket – the student's name appeared in one section, but another name was listed elsewhere. The discrepancy led to immediate intervention by the exam centre observer, who filed a formal complaint, prompting a swift police investigation.
The student, shocked and confused by the accusation of using a forged document, was briefly detained and questioned. He told investigators that the hall ticket had been given to him directly by the Akshaya Centre employee. This led the Pathanamthitta police to Neyyattinkara, where they arrested Greeshma on Monday.
The boy's ordeal has sparked public outrage and sympathy. This was his second attempt at the NEET exam. His family, already battling economic hardship, had borrowed around Rs 2.5 lakh to fund his coaching. His father is mentally challenged and his mother, a cleaning worker, had been praying outside the exam centre the entire time, unaware of the storm unfolding inside.
Speaking after the incident, the mother said she only understood the gravity of what had happened when the police explained that her son had been the victim of a scam.
Police say the case underscores urgent concerns about oversight at Akshaya Centres, which are meant to provide citizens with transparent and accessible public services. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are trying to determine if this was an isolated incident or part of a broader lapse in the system.

CBI arrests Mumbai-based cyber fraudster during nationwide raids

Mumbai/New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a cyber fraudster in Mumbai and seized incriminating documents during an ongoing nationwide crackdown on cyber-enabled financial crimes under Operation Chakra-V, an official said on Friday. Pratik Tanpure, a resident of Kalyan, was arrested during searches at 10 locations across Delhi, Hisar, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik in connection with a cyber enabled organised investment fraud case. He was involved in supplying pre-activated SIM cards and mule bank accounts to cybercriminal networks, thereby, enabling and sustaining their illegal operations, the official said. A mule account is a bank account used by criminals to transfer stolen money. The person who owns the account is called a "money mule". Substantial incriminating material was recovered from Tanpure during the searches, the CBI said in a statement. The case pertains to a well-orchestrated fraud where unsuspecting individuals were cheated through a fraudulent mobile application and WhatsApp groups, the CBI said. The perpetrators deceitfully lured innocent investors by promising shares of reputed listed companies at discounted rates. Once the victims invested their hard-earned money, the accused misappropriated the funds, the federal agency said. During the coordinated searches, the CBI seized incriminating digital and documentary evidence from the premises of the accused, exposing the intricate modus operandi employed to dupe innocent investors, the agency said. Operation Chakra-V of the CBI is focused on dismantling cybercrime syndicates and supporting infrastructure. The federal agency's operation comes close to Home Minister Amit Shah's direction se to use Artificial Intelligence for identifying mule accounts. HM Shah said over 19 lakh such accounts had been caught and transactions worth Rs 2,038 crore prevented in the fight against cybercrime. Earlier, chairing a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Home Affairs on 'Cyber Security and Cyber Crime', HM Shah said considering the spike in cyber financial frauds, the Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)'s 1930 helpline is being promoted as a one-point solution offering various services, such as blocking cards.

The Mumbai police have arrested five people in connection with Thursday's daylight robbery in Nagpada, wherein two jewellery store employees were robbed of nearly three kg of gold worth Rs 2.55 crore. An officer said the case was cracked within 12 hours of the crime. All the stolen items were also recovered, crime branch officials said Friday. The accused have been identified as Kurla residents Vinayak Dalvi and Mangesh Shinde, Shanavaz Khan, who hails from Sewree, Nagpada resident Abdul Shaikh, and Santosh Jain. Investigation revealed that the accused youths came up with the robbery plan as they wanted to become rich quickly and settle their debts. One of the five arrested accused had previously worked with the jeweller, the police said, adding that he knew their operations and gold transportation route, and took advantage of it to plan and execute the robbery. According to officers, the accused robbed two employees of the gold merchant in Kalbadevi at around 9 am on Thursday near the Diana Bridge in Nagpada. They had been following the employees, who were taking gold and broken jewellery for repair to a manufacturing unit in Lower Parel. When their vehicle reached near the bridge, the accused intercepted the employees' two-wheeler. The robbers threatened the pillion rider and snatched the bag containing gold which he held. They also snatched the two-wheeler's key to ensure that they were not chased, the police said. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed soon. Suspecting that the robbers seemed to know the route taken by the jewellery store employees, the police checked CCTV footage from the stores on this route and got concrete leads that helped the local police and officers of the crime branch solve the robbery soon, an officer said. The police are currently checking if the accused were previously involved in any crime.

Visa scam crackdown: CBI charges 8 people in French Embassy fraud; Interpol Silver Notice issued to trace global assets

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against eight individuals, including a local law officer at the French Embassy in New Delhi and his family members, for their alleged involvement in a high-profile visa fraud racket targeting Schengen visa applicants. According to a statement issued by the agency on June 11, the chargesheet was filed before the Special CBI Court in New Delhi and names the embassy official, his father, brother, and wife, as well as two visa agents and two middlemen. The case pertains to the fraudulent issuance of Schengen visas between January 2021 and May 2022. Investigators allege that the accused exploited their position in the visa section of the French Embassy to process and approve visa applications for hefty bribes, primarily from applicants in Punjab. Visa agents linked to the racket allegedly collected sums ranging from Rs 13 lakh to Rs 45 lakh per applicant, under the promise of quick visa approvals. The CBI claimed that once the visas were issued, supporting documentation was destroyed to eliminate paper trails. A series of searches in Punjab and Delhi yielded large quantities of unaccounted cash and documents linked to domestic and overseas properties valued in crores. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 12000W лазерен заваръчен апарат (4 в 1) – революция в заваряването!
