Bangladesh secured a commanding victory in the second Test against Zimbabwe, winning by an innings and 106 runs on Wednesday within three days to square the series 1-1.
After winning the toss, Zimbabwe managed 227 in their first innings, whilst Bangladesh responded strongly with 444.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz delivered an outstanding all-round performance, notching up a century and claiming 5-32 with his bowling to inflict a heavy defeat on Zimbabwe. The all-rounder achieved his third five-wicket haul of the series, following his dual five-wicket performances in the Sylhet Test.
His spinning colleague Taijul Islam captured 3-42, taking his match tally to nine wickets.

Ben Curran showed lone resistance, contributing 46 from 103 deliveries, including five boundaries. Only Craig Ervine (25) and Wellington Masakadza (10) reached double figures for Zimbabwe in their second innings.
Shadman Islam led Bangladesh's batting effort with 120, helping establish a substantial total.
Zimbabwe's Vincent Masekesa claimed 5-115 on debut, joining Andy Blignaut and John Nyumbu as the only Zimbabweans to take five wickets in their first Test. Despite Masekesa's achievement, Bangladesh maintained control throughout the match.

Bangladesh extended their overnight score of 291 by 153 runs, with Mehidy receiving support from Taijul (20 off 45) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (41 off 80).
Zimbabwe suffered their second consecutive loss at this spin-friendly venue, marking Bangladesh's second innings victory against them. The previous such defeat occurred in Dhaka in 2020, with an identical margin of an innings and 106 runs.

Actions taken without establishing individual responsibility would be seen as scapegoating rather than principled accountability and may have a demoralising effect on the entire police force, while undermining institutional integrity.' 'In the spirit of constructive engagement, the Indian Police Foundation offers to support the Government by conducting a Post-Incident Review and Analysis. This would be a non-adversarial, independent exercise, not intended for fault-finding, but focused on identifying systemic gaps, good practices, and actionable lessons to guide police operations and training. The IPF has in its membership a distinguished team of former DGPs, former civil servants, senior police leaders, forensic scientists, public safety experts, and academics who can undertake this exercise with neutrality, sensitivity, and professionalism,' the letter added. A day after the Bengaluru stampede, the state government had suspended Bengaluru Commissioner of Police B Dayananda, Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Vikash Kumar Vikash, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shekhar H Tekkannavar, ACP (Cubbon Park sub-division) C Balakrishna, and police inspector Girish A K on Thursday. Besides the Opposition, social media users have also flooded the government with requests to reinstate Dayananda.

Bengaluru stampede: IPS officer moves Central Administrative Tribunal challenging suspension
BENGALURU: Senior IPS officer Vikash Kumar Vikash, who was among the five officers suspended in connection with the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, has moved the Central Administrative Tribunal challenging his suspension, official sources said on Monday. Vikash, who was the Additional Commissioner of Police (West), moved the tribunal last week, they said. The tribunal is likely to hear the matter in the days ahead, sources said. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on June 5 ordered the suspension of five officers, including those of the Circle Police Inspector of the Cubbon Park Police station A K Girish and Assistant Commissioner of Police C Balakrishna, Deputy Commissioner of Police of central division Shekhar H Tekkannavar, and Commissioner of Police Bengaluru city Dayananda. Defending the police suspensions, Siddaramaiah on Friday said prima facie those who have not fulfilled their responsibility properly have been suspended. The suspension order said, "It is found that there has been on the face of it substantial dereliction of duty by these officers." The stampede occurred on June 4 in front of the stadium, where a large number of people thronged to participate in the RCB team's IPL victory celebrations. Eleven people have died and over 50 people were injured in the incident.
