'Love Island USA' watch parties have reached 'Super Bowl' levels of 'excitement'
In Washington, D.C., on July 8, fans gathered at the tropical-themed Royal Sands Social Club to enjoy food and drinks while watching the latest episode. The sold-out watch event was hosted by local event group Something Different.
"If you look inside the bar, it's ironically, very 'Love Island' themed, in a way, they have what looks to be like a villa of their own," co-founder Chance Albury told USA TODAY. "Being able to provide that atmosphere makes it an automatic draw."
Something Different hosts game nights, skate parties, and other community-focused events as an alternative to the city's robust nightlife scene. The bar exploded during Episode 32's dumping when Taylor and Clarke were sent home after receiving the fewest votes.
When Something Different dropped their initial flyer for the "Love Island" series, it was met with a good reaction.
"People love it. I remember the first one that we hosted. I was very shocked to see the outcome and the way that people engage with the show," Albury said. "I think that was incredible. It felt like a sports game."
'Love Island USA' Season 7 cast: See every islander so far
Triniti Lemmons, 25, said she felt a similar feeling during a watch party at Texas Live!, a bar in Arlington. The show was plastered on multiple jumbo screens inside the establishment.
"I'm a huge sports fan, so it honestly gave me the same excitement of watching an intense football game with a group of people," she stated. "I knew that going to the watch party, I'd get the chance to talk about what was going down in the episode in real time with my friends."
Lemmons decided to attend the event after seeing how "Love Island" watch parties were gaining traction online. The reality dating series centers around a group of contestants looking for love in a Fijian villa. The show airs six days a week on Peacock, keeping fans entertained and invested throughout the summer.
"This is my Super Bowl," tennis star Coco Gauff cheered in a recent TikTok video after fan favorites Nic and Olandria re-coupled up on the show.
The drama-filled Season 7, which premiered on June 3, has become a massive hit on the streaming platform. From viral moments to the growing fandom's in-depth discourse, it's hard to escape "Love Island" content on the timeline.
"Getting to watch it on such a big screen, as if I were at a movie theater, was just top tier," Lemmons added.
Craft and Yap founder Tiffany Menzies' "Love Island" watch party at Driftwoods Sports Grill, based in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 26, attracted an estimated 170 people.
"We filled the patio, and we even had some, like, overflow in another room where we put some TVs in case there was a demand for it, but people loved it," Menzies said.
"Everybody was chatting and watching it, and screaming and having reactions to the different scenes and challenges, so it was really fun."
The party featured specialty bites fitting for the occasion, like calamari rings called "Tentacles of Temptation" and "Love Triangles & Loaded Lies" waffle fries.
Whether attending solo or with friends, Menzies said people are seeking genuine community.
"It's just reality TV, but I think the bigger picture within it is that people just want to all be involved in something and chat with each other," she added. "It's nice to see people just relax and be silly and yell at the screens together over stupid stuff. Sometimes we need that."
There's no centralized place to search for "Love Island" watch parties, but social media has served as a bulletin board for many bars and restaurants hosting them across the country, capitalizing on local fans' interest.
And many organizers are getting creative. For instance, Something Different partnered with a medical spa to give attendees a "bombshell giveaway." They are offering winners a custom glow facial, two free lip fillers, and a tox sprinkle.
"Whether you're a bombshell looking to turn heads or just want to feel a little more muggy-season ready, we got you covered," the event group posted.
Although the watch parties are not as romantic as Huda's "dream" beach date, it is still a "cute" idea for Sunday's season finale.

Are Rachel and Carrington From ‘Perfect Match' Dating?
It's been nearly a week since Perfect Match aired its season 3 finale but still fans are asking: Is anyone (besides AD Smith and Ollie Sutherland, ofc) together anymore? Chances are you've heard that fan-fave couple Rachel Recchia and Ray Gantt (aka Rachel Ray) couldn't make things last outside the villa, but fans think the former Bachelorette *could* be romancing someone else from the person being Carrington Rodriguez. Allow me to explain. Right after the finale dropped, the fate of Rachel Ray was revealed through an interview with Elite Daily. In it, Rachel said the vibe between herself and the Love Island USA alum felt too platonic to blossom into something more, explaining, 'We were super late in the process when we formed a relationship, so it didn't have much time to progress past friendship.' Then, on August 19, she posted a carousel of images from her time on Perfect Match to concluded with this pretty cozy-looking photo of herself and Carrington. Cue the dating rumors. If you need a refresher: Rachel and Carrington did plenty of flirting on PM (and admitted they were attracted to the other) but never ended up matching on the show. Hence why the above pic kinda threw fans for a loop. 'Never in a million years would have put you and Carrington together but since the show I'm DYINNNNNNG to see it work out,' one fan wrote in the comments section of her post. Another chimed in with, 'Is this a hard launch at the end??????!!' while yet another commenter wrote, 'Knew Carrington was meant to be.' Side note: During an August 5 appearance on The Viall Files podcast, Rachel hinted that she was possibly seeing one of her PM she didn't say who. 'I might be talking to someone,' she teased, noting that the person in question was 'not Freddie' (who, for the record, is rumored to be with Lucy Syed following the finale). Time will tell whether these two are actually an item—but as long as Rachel doesn't get back together with Clayton Echard again, I'm happy!!!

Tuberville rips NFL over male cheerleaders: ‘What the hell are you doing?'
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) on Tuesday criticized the NFL and the Minnesota Vikings over their inclusion of male cheerleaders. The organization earlier this month introduced its cheerleading roster for the upcoming 2025 NFL season, including Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn, the team's two male cheerleaders, in an Instagram video. 'The next generation of cheer has arrived!' the Vikings wrote on Aug. 9. The post drew backlash online, and Shiek and Conn for weeks have faced derogatory slurs and hateful comments as the center of debates over male cheerleaders and masculinity. 'I would like to ask the ownership of the NFL and the commissioner, what the hell are you doing?' Tuberville said on an episode of the podcast 'Hot Mic,' aired by the conservative sports news site OutKick. 'If you're going to be woke and you're going to try to, you know, take the men out of men's sports is what they're doing … then you're going to have a huge problem.' 'At the end of the day, I hope to God it doesn't come south to Atlanta, or to Texas, or to Dallas or to some of our NFL teams, because you'll lose it. I mean, people will actually quit buying tickets and going,' added Tuberville, a former college football coach who announced in May that he would leave the Senate after four years to run for governor of Alabama. 'This is the narrative they're trying to push out — this is not just a couple of people being men cheerleaders. It is about pushing a narrative that you want to put gender into sports and let everybody know that we're trying to show that, 'Hey, we're going to take the masculinity out of it a little bit,' and that's not going to happen in the South,' he said. Male dancers have been a part of NFL organizations since 2018, when Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies joined the Los Angeles Rams' 40-person squad. They made NFL history in 2019 as the first men to perform on the sidelines of a Super Bowl game, when the Rams played the New England Patriots in Atlanta. In an op-ed published Tuesday by The Guardian, former Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end RK Russell wrote that complaints about male cheerleaders 'are even more baseless than the Monday Morning Quarterbacks.' 'This isn't about performance at all. It's about presence. It's about the mere existence and visibility of men on NFL cheer squads who don't conform to the rigid, outdated ideas of masculinity that so many use sport, and football in particular, to defend,' wrote Russell, who came out publicly as bisexual to ESPN in 2019. 'The outrage over male cheerleaders isn't about sports. It's about control: over masculinity, over image, and over who gets to be seen and celebrated in public spaces or on the global stage of the NFL.' A Minnesota Vikings spokesperson did not immediately return The Hill's request for comment on Tuberville's comments or the broader backlash. The organization told NBC News last week that, 'While many fans may be seeing male cheerleaders for the first time at Vikings games, male cheerleaders have been part of previous Vikings teams and have long been associated with collegiate and professional cheerleading.' 'In 2025, approximately one third of NFL teams have male cheerleaders,' the team said. 'Every member of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders program has an impressive dance background and went through the same rigorous audition process. Individuals were selected because of their talent, passion for dance and dedication to elevating the game day experience. We support all our cheerleaders and are proud of the role they play as ambassadors of the organization.' Responding to claims that some fans have canceled their season tickets over the team's inclusion of male cheerleaders, the Vikings told NBC News that no fans have done so. In a joint Instagram post on Saturday, Shiek and Conn appeared to respond to the controversy: 'wait…did someone say our name?' they captioned a photo in their Vikings cheer uniforms. A number of prominent Republican political leaders have also been cheerleaders: Former President George W. Bush cheered at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., serving as head cheerleader his senior year, and at Yale University. Former President Reagan was a cheerleader at Eureka College in the 1930s.

Post Malone strips down for Skims menswear collab
Skims, Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand, has named its latest model: Post Malone. The company, which often employs celebrity ambassadors to hawk everything from tighty-whities to a much-talked-about nipple bra, cast the genre-bending singer in its campaign for the latest men's collection. The drop, which will be available in stores and online Thursday, Aug. 21, includes loungewear and boxers, stitched with the brand's "heavyweight fleece," featured for the first time in this launch. Posty, as he's affectionately dubbed by fans, leans into the dust-bound nature of his latest music in the campaign, posing in the Western Wilds of Utah in the collection's signature camo print. Olivia Munn shows mastectomy scars in new Skims campaign: 'I'm done being insecure' With a noticeably slimmed-down figure, Malone strips down to his briefs for some of the shots, which play on his heavily tatted body by blurring the separating line between his inked skin and the camo boxers. "I'm all about comfort and feeling good in what I wear," he said in a release announcing the collection. "These pieces are fun, the camo especially stands out to me. I've always been into camo." Will the Skims face wrap snatch your chin? Here's what experts say With his campaign, the "Congratulations" singer joins the ranks of major names like Nia Long, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Charli XCX, who have all lent their faces (and bodies) to Skims collections. The drop also comes on the heels of the release of a highly controversial line of face wraps, featuring "collagen yarns for ultra-soft support," targeting those who have an elaborate morning shed routine. The aim, essentially, is to keep your face firm and "snatch" your chin. The campaign was met with immediate backlash, both from doctors who argued that it would not be effective and from critics who characterized it as anti-feminist marketing, aimed at making aging seem undesirable for women.
