"No One Seems To Sell It Anymore": 27 Food Trends That Were Considered Completely Normal 30 Years Ago, But Have Since Completely Disappeared From Society
So when you're confronted with an old food trend that randomly disappeared, it's an emotional cocktail of nostalgia, mystery, and curiosity. And today we're gonna talk about some of those trends, because they're honestly fascinating whether you're a foodie or not.
1. "Diners open until at least 10 p.m. during the week. I need some late night food! I get cravings for chocolate chip pancakes."
— Royal_T95
2. "Philadelphia cheesecake bars."
— Sandwidge_Broom
"Those could instantly fix a bad day at school when one was in my lunchbox."
— Stripeb49
3. "A lot of salad bars in Wisconsin went down during COVID. I understand the sanitation thing, so you can save the grandstanding. I miss the 15 various pastas, potato salads, and slaws; plus the soups that were all-you-can-eat and included in the entree. They were so good."
— Upbeat-Stage2107
4. "24-hour grocery stores. Sometimes my hours suck, and I loved the peace and quiet. They're also great for sleeping in your car in their parking lot, or on long drives so you can get food and use a washroom."
— Apprehensive_North49
5. "Frozen yogurt shops — all but one has disappeared from my area."
— live_that_life
NBC
6. "Choco Taco for the win!!"
— rileyjamesdoggo
7. "I wish cupcake shops were popular again. I hate that most of my options for a slice of cake are at grocery stores now. Some local bakeries will sell cake slices or mini cakes, but sometimes I just want a simple cupcake without having to bake my own batch."
— littleclaww
8. "Hot dog places. I would love a really good gourmet hot dog place that served top-quality meat and super fresh and different toppings. Amazing sides, but only hot dogs!"
— OwlPrestigious543
11. "Millionaire shortbread. And casseroles in general — especially cream/soup-based ones."
— Wide_Breadfruit_2217
12. "Frogeye salad. Used to be a staple at deli counters in grocery stores. I haven't seen it in forever, and I cannot bring myself to attempt to make it."
— AtheneSchmidt
13. "Warm bacon salad dressings."
— ennuiacres
14. "Lobster being cheaper than dirt. There is essentially infinite lobster, and there's no reason for it to be expensive."
— Rare-Newspaper8530
15. "Good, affordable sandwich places. Not everyone wants fried chicken or a burger every time they eat out. What's cool about sandwich and salad places is you can kind of customize them to your liking. And sub places have become expensive as heck in my area."
— Working_Cloud_909

18. "Jell-O 1-2-3 from the '70s. So good!!"
— GracieLou540
"Oh man, that and Pudding Pops."
— Spirited_Bill_8947
20. "I wish orange chiffon cakes came back. They're so nice in summer!"
— mbw70
"My partner has a thing for chiffon cakes and no bakery will even make them, so I've had to (ugh!) bake them myself. The texture reminds me of a cellulose kitchen sponge.
There's a good reason we went back to cakes with butter."
— Genny415
22. "Can we please get restaurants back that give more options for veggies? I hate hearing 'Do you want fries or a baked potato with that?' Unless it's a buffet, you're limited, and that's usually the only reason I'll go to a buffet."
— Fabulous-Reporter-21
25. "Nachos made correctly. Piled high with chips, with all the cheese and toppings intermixed in with the chips. Now all the toppings are just dumped on top of a plate of chips."
— Sparkly_Polished_62
27. "Banana ice cream. It was sporadic and hard to find in the '70s, but at least it was available sometimes."

Jake Knapp's girlfriend Makena White recalls how ‘very private' relationship got exposed on PGA Tour
Makena White had no intention of exposing her 'very private' romance with PGA Tour pro and boyfriend Jake Knapp at the 2024 Mexico Open. Life, however, had other plans. White took a stroll down memory lane Monday after the PGA Tour's official X account asked its three million followers to 'share a piece of golf lore about yourself,' prompting Knapp's biggest supporter to peel back the curtain on her personal life. 4 Jake Knapp with girlfriend Makena White during the Cognizant Classic in February 2025. PGA TOUR 4 The PGA Tour pro shot a 59 at PGA National earlier this year. Getty Images 'My (previously very private) relationship was hard launched on national television at the 2024 Mexico Open,' she began on X. 'A year later I got outed playing hooky from work on a Thursday cause that same bf shot 59 & photos of us cellying were all over the internet. '2 years of getting sewered.' 4 Jake Knapp celebrated his first PGA Tour victory with Makena White in February 2024 at the Mexico Open. Getty Images Knapp, 31, earned his first PGA Tour victory as a rookie in February 2024 at the Mexico Open, where White joined him on the course at Vidanta Vallarta for the sweet celebrations that were immortalized on social media. White and Knapp had been dating for six months at the time. She flew in from Canada for the final round after the golfer's unexpected rise to the top of the leaderboard. As Knapp has become a steady contender on tour in the year-and-half since, White has frequently been by his side. A year later, the California native shot a bogey-free 59 in the opening round of the Cognizant Classic at PGA National, joining the exclusive sub-60 club with White in attendance. 4 Jake Knapp finished tied for third at the 3M Open in July 2025. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect When an X user asked White if she was 'upset' over the media fallout of Knapp's triumphs, she replied, 'I'm not mad at another I was simply telling a story.' Currently ranked 77th in the world, Knapp is coming off a top-three finish at last weekend's 3M Open, where he tied for third at 20-under par, three strokes behind winner Kurt Kitayama at 23-under. Knapp will be in the field at the upcoming Wyndham Championship, which tees off Thursday. He turned pro in 2016.

Forget the gym — you just need 6 minutes to strengthen your core with this Pilates abs workout
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Credit: Getty Images It's never easy to find the time and motivation to train, but almost all of us can spare six minutes to do a workout that doesn't require any equipment. When it comes to motivation, that's a bit trickier, but at least with this short session from Pilates instructor Lilly Sabri, you know that you'll be finished in next to no time, and you'll be pleased to have done it. Advertisement If you do want to roll out one of the best yoga mats, it will make the session more comfortable as you'll be doing the entire workout lying down. Don't be fooled into thinking it will be an easy ride just because it's only six minutes long, either. Sabri suggests this as an intermediate workout, and you can be sure your abs will feel the effects of it afterwards. Watch Lilly Sabri's 6-minute core workout There are six exercises in the workout, and they are broken up by short breaks while Sabri explains what move is coming up next. Sabri does the workout with you, setting a pace for the exercises and providing tips to help you push through and get the most from it, so make sure you can see your screen throughout. Advertisement With a short workout like this, it's important to maximize each move, so make sure your form is correct and you're moving at the right pace to engage your core muscles. The workout features a mix of leg raises and sit-ups, along with the Hundreds exercise, which is a classic Pilates core-burner. The session works the upper and lower abs, your obliques through twisting moves, and the deep core muscles. There are no planks or bridges in the session, with all moves performed from the same lying position to make it easier and faster to transition between exercises. If you can make it a regular addition to your weekly routine, perhaps doing the workout three or four times a week — that's still just 18-24 minutes of work a week — is a great way to get into the rhythm of training regularly, and you'll notice your core strength improving. Advertisement You can also use this short core routine as a finisher for a longer workout, to ensure your abs get some special attention after a full-body circuit, for example. Once you have completed the workout comfortably, it will be worth looking at longer sessions to keep progressing. Or you could even double up on this workout for a testing 12-minute session. If you enjoyed this Pilates-style workout and are looking for something longer, try this 20-minute core workout, which also improves your balance.
