Hamish Stewart is determined to take lessons from his third round Wimbledon Qualifying defeat.
The Strathblane star valiantly battled to the last against Leandro Riedi, but went down 6-3 4-6 6-3 6-4 in Roehampton

It brought down the curtain on an action-packed week for Stewart, who had already come through four matches before his progress was checked by Riedi.
But the 25-year-old world No.550, who trains in Stirling, is insistent that he heads home with his head held high.
'It's been tough on the body a little bit but not too bad, said the 25-year-old. 'I'm very proud and if you told me at the start of pre-qualifying, that I'd get to qualifying, I'd have bit your arm off.
'I'm proud. I'm disappointed not to get the last one but it's a huge confidence booster and has given me a lot of drive and belief for the rest of the year.

'It's motivated me a lot for the rest of the year getting this close. To think back to this time last year that I would be one match away from getting in is huge and I just want to get back out there.
'I want to be here off my ranking next year. That's achievable and something I'm looking to do.'
Stewart wasn't the only Brit taking centre stage in Roehampton, with compatriots Oliver Tarvet and Emily Appleton also in action.
Tarvet made history by becoming the first British man to advance to the main draw through qualifying since Alexander Ward in 2017.
The world No.719 got the better of Alexander Blockx 6-3 3-6 6-2 6-1 to reach his first-ever Grand Slam main draw, at the same tournament he attended as a child.

'It's a great feeling, qualifying for your first Slam,' said Tarvet. 'As a kid, we used to go every year with either my parents or my sister.
'I played tennis growing up and was pretty good, so it was something I'd always looked forward to, coming down to Wimbledon and seeing the professionals.
'It seemed so far away then but it's the reality now and it's a great feeling. I was happy to pull through.'
But there was no such happy ending for Appleton, who was defeated by Veronika Erjavec 6-2 2-6 6-0.

Savinho: Tottenham and Man City in talks over summer deal

Tottenham have held talks with Manchester City over a deal for Savinho. Spurs are looking to bolster their attacking options before the summer transfer window closes. Tottenham have sold captain Heung-min Son to LAFC and lost James Maddison for an extended period of time after he injured his knee. Manchester City winger Savinho has emerged as a target and talks are understood to have taken place between the two clubs. City are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old, who made 48 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side last season. Savinho only joined City permanently last summer after starring for Spanish side Girona and helping them qualify for the Champions League. The winger broke into the Brazil squad during that time and has since gone on to make 13 appearances for them, scoring once. Savinho would add to Tottenham's depth in attack as he is able to play on either flank. Spurs have also been linked with a move for Como playmaker Nico Paz before the transfer window closes. Paz shone in Serie A last season after joining Como from Real Madrid for around £5million. The 20-year-old scored six goals and contributed nine assists as Como finished 10th in Serie A.

‘Pressed further' on Sunday night: One club have stepped up their efforts to sign Man Utd star this weekend

To say he's only garnered interest from a few suitors since returning to Old Trafford this summer, Jadon Sancho is playing hard to get. Back at the start of June, it was confirmed that Chelsea had decided against signing the Manchester United outcast permanently and instead opted to pay a £5 million penalty to bypass the £25 million buy obligation. Given he still has no future at United following his notorious fallout and exile with Erik ten Hag in September 2023, Sancho has formed one fifth of INEOS' 'bomb squad' along with fellow outcasts Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and, prior to his Barcelona switch, Marcus Rashford – all of whom were expected to be sold before 2025/2026 got underway. (Photo by) Sancho's lacklustre form in recent years has led to him being valued at just £17m by United; they initially kept his price tag at £25m immediately after his Stamford Bridge departure, but soon conceded that no clubs would be willing to pay such a fee for such a substandard player. His most likely destination throughout the window has been deemed as Juventus, although even they put their interest in the 25-year-old on the back burner to prioritise a move for Ademola Lookman instead. Reporter Alfredo Pedulla revealed on Sunday morning that Sancho has rebuffed an approach from Besiktas in recent days – a deal that would've seen him reunite with the manager that signed him for United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Sancho holding out for Juventus move The forward was uninterested in the prospective switch due to his desire to join Juventus in the coming weeks. Hours later, Pedulla claimed that Roma had made a fresh enquiry to gauge the feasibility of a deal for Sancho, having 'pressed further' on Sunday evening by talking to United's intermediaries. Again, though, the Italian journalist added that Sancho has 'rejected everything' up to this stage. He is giving full priority to the Old Lady. Richard Hughes pulled off DREAM deal for future world-class star

Richard Hughes has agreed a dream deal for a future world-class star this summer. There have been so many transfers this summer, some have gone under the radar. Everyone's focus has been on the big marquee signings. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Then there were Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong as well - both electric players who proved at Wembley in the Community Shield that they are going to be future stars of this team. Now we are still waiting on the new arrivals of Marc Guehi and more importantly the big one - Alexander Isak. If that gets over the line, Liverpool will boast an incredible team. But it wasn't just these deals that should be noteworthy for fans. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Earlier on in the window Richard Hughes agreed a dream loan transfer for one of the most promising players in the Liverpool squad. We're talking about Vitezslav Jaros. The shot-stopper showcased his incredible ability last season, making some spectacular saves against Brighton in the League Cup and putting in a solid cameo against Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Before that it was with Sturm Graz in Europe, where he caught the eye. All of these performances suggested Liverpool have another gem, Jaros' numbers back that up, too. He prevented a number of goals while on loan at Sturm Graz, and now he seems to be doing the same at his next destination. Back in June in a move some may have forgotten Hughes agreed to loan Jaros to Ajax, and signed a new deal with the Czech star. This was a dream scenario for Liverpool. Jaros has gone on loan to Ajax to be their first choice goalkeeper. Not only that he's gone there to work alongside Johnny Heitinga, who was an assistant coach to Arne Slot last season. Things could not have gone better for Jaros in his first competitive match for Ajax either. He put in a brilliant performance, despite facing a record 18 shots against Telstar in the Eredivisie. It was the first time in recorded history that a promoted side had more shots than Ajax in the Johan Cruyff Arena as per Opta. But despite this, Jaros kept a clean-sheet, making four saves from inside his own box, and preventing 1.04 goals. It's quite truly a special performance for the goalkeeper and it's a sign of his potential. Jaros absolutely can be a world-class goalkeeper in the future. He's just turned 24-years-old. At the same age, Alisson had only moved to AS Roma, and initially he wasn't a starter with the Italian side. Jaros already has a lot of experience under his belt and now he's going to be playing regularly for one of the biggest clubs in Europe in Ajax. The sky is the limit for him. Hughes has pulled off a dream deal here, and ultimately despite Giorgi Mamardashvili's arrival, Jaros could rival the Georgian to replace Alisson in the future.
