Notre Dame football's starting center Ashton Craig makes national award watchlist
Ashton Craig was named to the watch list for the best center in Division I football on Friday, as many across the nation are starting to see that he is still one of the best. After starting the final games of the 2023 season, many expected him to take his game to the next level in 2024, and he did until Purdue.
Craig suffered his injury, a torn ACL, against the Boilermakers, ending his season prematurely. The recover period for that kind of injury is now around 9 months, which means that he should be getting back to full strength soon if he hasn't already.
The Irish offensive line is viewed as one of the best in the country, Rocco Spindler believes that is the case, and with so many of the players on the front getting nominated for preseason awards, he very well could be right.

Former Iowa football LB makes Tampa Bay Buccaneers history
Let's GOOOO!!! @nickjhoops #NFLHawks📺 @NFLPlus In his NFL preseason debut on Saturday against the Tennessee Titans, former Iowa football linebacker Nick Jackson has already accomplished a Tampa Bay Buccaneers statistical feat not done since 2017. Jackson, who spent six years with the Hawkeyes and finished as the No. 2 all-time FBS leader in tackles (555), chose to sign with Tampa Bay after he went undrafted in the 2025 NFL draft this past March. During the preseason matchup against the Titans, Jackson recorded a sack of Tennessee quarterback Brandon Allen on the first play from scrimmage during a second-quarter drive and intercepted Allen with one hand just a few plays later. According to the Buccaneers Communications, Jackson becomes the first player since 2017 to record both a sack and an interception in the same preseason game. LB Nick Jackson becomes the first Buccaneer player since 2017 to record a sack and an interception in the same preseason game. While Tampa Bay's 29-7 victory is just the first of its three preseason games, Jackson's remarkable feat should reward him with a favorable impression in hopes of making the Buccaneers' 52-man roster before their first regular-season game on Sept. 7. Redemption starts now. Here's how to buy Notre Dame vs. Miami FL college football tickets
There might not be a more excited group of fans to get back to the college football season than the Notre Dame faithful. Coming off a National Championship appearance, expectations are high. It won't be an easy course to get back, but their campaign will start against the University of Miami. Miami didn't have a bad season themselves, but finished 13th in the College Football Playoff rankings and missing the 12-team playoff field. That's a chip on the shoulder if I've ever heard of one. Miami held a 10-2 record to finish the season, but a key loss to Syracuse landed them in third place in the ACC. They will start the season at home, hosting the Fighting Irish. What does this mean for college football fans? Two teams will a lot to prove heading into the season will face off in the first week.
