Nets' Michael Porter Jr. excited for his next chapter in Brooklyn
"I'm really excited for this next chapter out here in Brooklyn. I think over there in Denver, I felt like my ceiling had kind of plateaued," Porter said in a video posted to his YouTube channel called "Curious Mike." Porter spent the first half of the video giving thanks to everyone within the Nuggets organization before moving to the portion where he addressed going to the Nets.
"I myself am excited to expand my game and be able to do what I do," Porter continued. Porter went on to explain how he found out that he was traded while on a flight to Saint-Tropez, France by getting texts from his agent and Jon Wallace, Denver's EVP of Player Personnel. Porter also mentioned that he and Cam Johnson, whom the Nets traded for Porter, are good friends and may be staying in each others homes.
Porter, 27, comes to Brooklyn as an NBA champion and a player with six years worth of playing experience in the league after missing his rookie year due to injury. Porter had one of the best seasons of his career last season as he averaged 18.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 50.4% from the field and 39.5% from three-point land.
After being on a team in Denver that had been competing for championships with center Nikola Jokic and guard Jamal Murray on the roster, Porter will be going to a Brooklyn team at the beginning stages of its rebuild. From the way that Porter talked about what could come from this next chapter with the Nets, it sounds like he's excited and determined to show more of his game in a bigger role.

Brooklyn Nets jersey history No. 21 - Antoine Wright (2005-08)
The Brooklyn Nets have 52 jersey numbers worn by over 600 different players over the course of their history since the franchise was founded in 1967 as a charter member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), when the team was known as the "New Jersey Americans". Since then, that league has been absorbed by the NBA with the team that would later become the New York Nets and New Jersey Nets before settling on the name by which they are known today, bringing their rich player and jersey history with them to the league of today. To commemorate the players who played for the Nets over the decades wearing those 52 different jersey numbers, Nets Wire is covering the entire history of the franchise's jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. The 22nd of those 52 different numbers is jersey No. 21, which has has had a total of 26 players wear the number in the history of the team. The 15th of those players wearing No. 21 played in the (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets era, wing alum Antoine Wright. After ending his college career at Texas A&M, Wright was picked up with the 15th overall selection of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Nets. The West Covina, California native would play parts of the first three seasons of his pro career with New Jersey before he was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks in 2008. Saturday's game was worrisome for the New York Liberty and their fans after seven-time All-Star Breanna Stewart exited with what appeared to a lower leg injury in the first quarter of the team's 101-99 loss to the LA Sparks. It wasn't clear in the moment what caused to the two-time MVP to be in pain but whatever it was it was enough for Stewart to motion towards the bench to get her out of the game and she never returned. The Liberty just got Jonquel Jones back so having Stewie out of the lineup would be a massive loss for the reigning WNBA champs. Stewart has barely missed any time since coming to Brooklyn. But she did tear her Achilles back in 2019 before having to undergo a touch-up operation a few seasons later. The New York Post's Madeline Kenney had a positive update on Sunday though, with the result of Stewart's recent X-rays: "Breanna Stewart had imaging done on her right leg which showed she avoided significant injury after exiting last night's game," Kenney reported. "She'll be with the Liberty on this four-game road trip, but the team plans to give her time to fully recover." Hopefully Breanna is able to make a full and quick recovery and doesn't miss too much time with a grueling 12-game stretch coming up.
