President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed profound sorrow over the tragic crash of Air India flight AI171 in Ahmedabad, which has resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.
President Murmu said in her statement, 'I am deeply distressed to learn about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. It is a heart-rending disaster. My thoughts and prayers are with the affected people. The nation stands with them in this hour of indescribable grief.'

Prime Minister Modi also conveyed his condolences through a heartfelt post on social media platform X, saying, 'The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected.'
The Air India flight AI171, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Emergency response teams are on-site, with rescue and relief operations underway.
Messages of condolence and support have been pouring in from across the nation and abroad, as India mourns one of its most tragic aviation disasters in recent years.

The total contract value stands at ₹311.03 crore, inclusive of GST, with Kernex holding a 60% stake in the consortium. The first project involves the installation of the Kavach system across the MAS–GDR, MAS–AJJ, and AJJ–RU sections of the Chennai Division, covering a total stretch of 271 kilometers. This part of the contract is valued at ₹173.11 crore and is expected to be completed within 730 days from the date of the LoA. The second project, worth ₹137.92 crore, includes the deployment of the Kavach system along with tower infrastructure and a 48-fiber optic backbone network between Arakkonam (AJJ) and Jolarpettai (JTJ) in the same division. The execution timeline for this project is set at 540 days. These orders reinforce Kernex Microsystems' growing role in supporting Indian Railways' push for enhanced safety and technological advancement in railway operations.
