One dead after car crashes into tree in Dollard-des-Ormeaux

(Paul Chiasson / The Canadian Press) One person is dead and two others injured after a collision in Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Montreal's West Island. Residents were woken up around 3:45 a.m. Saturday when a vehicle crashed into a tree. Several people called 911 to report the crash on Spring Garden Street, near the Fabre Street intersection. 'When the police arrived on the scene, first responders were already extricating the people who were trapped inside the vehicle. There were three men in the vehicle, one driver and two passengers,' said Officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). One of the passengers, a 26-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the other passenger, both 27, were taken to hospital. Their condition was not immediately known. 'The car may have been travelling at high speed before crashing into a tree. A perimeter was set up to protect the scene for investigators from the Collision Investigation Unit so that they could analyze it and try to understand the exact circumstances of the event,' said the SPVM spokesperson. Man dies after car crashes into tree in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que.
A man died on Saturday morning after the car he was in hit a tree in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que. At around 3:45 a.m., several calls were made to 911 about a collision involving a vehicle that struck a tree in the residential neighbourhood of Westwood. According to Montreal police, the incident took place on Spring Garden Street near Fabre Street. The car was going at a high speed and the driver lost control before hitting a tree. A man — a passenger of the vehicle — was declared dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were rushed to hospital. Montreal police say they are waiting for an update on their condition as they launch their investigation.

Man charged for speeding and impaired driving in Sarnia
A man has been charged after his arrest for speeding and driving impaired, while under driving prohibitions. On May 28, police stopped and arrested a man on Blackwell Road in Sarnia. He was driving 180 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone, and his two breath tests both resulted in double the legal limit. The driver is subject to a probation order and has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, operation while impaired over 80, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, breach probation, driving while under suspension, driving while prohibited under criminal code suspension and stunt driving. The vehicle was seized and impounded for 45 days, and the man was released with conditions to a future court date.
