GoFundMe to raise money for Mass. family after mother dies from fall at Purgatory Chasm

Yahoo24-04-2025

A GoFundMe is raising money to help the family of a Topsfield mother of four who died after a fall at Purgatory Chasm State Reservation on Wednesday.
Carolyn Sanger, 49, was at Purgatory Chasm with three of her four children and other family members 'when tragedy struck,' the Sutton Police Department said in a statement. Police received a 911 call at around 1:47 p.m. about a woman who fell 50 and 75 feet.
She died from her injuries and was pronounced dead, police added.
In the fundraising campaign, Sanger's family, husband Mike Sanger and children "would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and condolences through calls, text messages, etc.," organizer Brooke Paoli wrote.
'For those that knew Carrie, know that she was a bright light; a wonderful, selfless mother who has raised four incredible, respectful, responsible kids,' Paoli wrote. 'She was a friend to all and her smile and kind spirit will be greatly missed. She passed too early — but she left the earth doing what she loved, with the ones she loved.'
Sanger recently left working as an oncology nurse 'to pursue her passion for wellness,' the fundraiser read. She also bought and renovated a building in Topsfield, which became Balanced Body in Topsfield.
All the funds collected on GoFundMe will go to the family to help them 'navigate these uncertain financial times,' Paoli wrote.
The fundraiser has so far received 106 donations, totaling $17,253 with a $22,000 goal. One donor submitted $2,000, followed by $700 and two donations of $500.
The Topsfield Fire Department shared the GoFundMe on its Facebook page, which asked people to help the Sangers 'during this unimaginable time.'
'From the bottom of our hearts on behalf of the Sanger family, thank you,' Paoli concluded.
