Woman arrested in Danville for illegal weapon, drug possession

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville woman was arrested over the weekend after police found she was in possession of drugs and a weapon illegally during a traffic stop.
Around 11 p.m. on Sunday, a Danville police officer stopped a vehicle around Jackson and Williams Streets for a registration violation. Police said the driver, identified as 31-year-old Ebonnie Bryant, had a suspended driver's license in Illinois.

After investigating further, officers also found an illegally transported firearm inside the car, as well as a controlled substance.
Bryant was arrested and brought to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building. She was booked on charges of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

At approximately 3:11 p.m. on June 13, Decatur Police Officers were called to the intersection of W Rock Springs Road and Westgate Drive in reference to a crash involving two vehicles. The initial investigation revealed a Chrysler PT Cruiser was sitting in the eastbound lane of W Rock Springs Road facing westbound. A Chevrolet 1500 truck was traveling westbound on W Rock Springs Road and collided with the passenger's side of the PT Cruiser. The driver of the Chevrolet 1500 was an 18-year-old male and Decatur resident, while the passenger was a juvenile male from Decatur. Both occupants of this vehicle were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the PT Cruiser was a 68-year-old male and Decatur resident. He sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. Additionally, there were no indications that the driver of the Chevrolet 1500 was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and are actively investigating the crash. There is no further information available at this time. The theft happened Tuesday at the Ulta Beauty on South Veterans Parkway. Officials did not go into detail about the crime or the value of stolen merchandise, but they did release images of the suspects. One is a Black male who was wearing a navy-blue jacket, a white t-shirt and a blue baseball cap. The other is a Black, dark-haired woman who was wearing a red or orange top and floral-patterned pants.
