Two teens arrested on weapons charges in Danville
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old were arrested in Danville Wednesday night after police found guns in their possession, one of which was stolen. Around 6:30 p.m., Danville police officers were patrolling in the Holiday Hills area. Police said officers tried to 'make contact' with two people walking at the intersection of Westview and Holiday Drive, but they ran from the officers. 'It's a crisis for us': Danville school board member worried about $18M deficit Eventually, both were taken into custody, and police identified them as 18-year-old Dakiy Keys and a 17-year-old juvenile. After investigating, talking with witnesses, and using a Danville K9, the officers found two guns. One was defaced because the serial number was scratched off, and the other one was stolen, police said. Keys was taken to the Vermilion County Jail. He has been booked on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, being under the age of 21, possession of ammunition without a FOID card, and defacing identification marks on a firearm. The juvenile was brought to the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center and was booked on charges of possession of a stolen firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, being under the age of 21. 4-year-old hurt in Danville hit-and-run; driver charged The police department said all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Woman arrested in Danville for illegal weapon, drug possession
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville woman was arrested over the weekend after police found she was in possession of drugs and a weapon illegally during a traffic stop. Around 11 p.m. on Sunday, a Danville police officer stopped a vehicle around Jackson and Williams Streets for a registration violation. Police said the driver, identified as 31-year-old Ebonnie Bryant, had a suspended driver's license in Illinois. Bryant was arrested and brought to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building. She was booked on charges of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. Elderly woman shot in her bedroom; Danville Police looking for tips
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Danville Police Department is looking for tips on a shooting that left an elderly woman hospitalized. Police officers arrived at a house on Moore Street near Fairchild Street Monday evening around 9 p.m. after someone called 911 reporting shots being fired. Officers near the area said they heard around 20 gunshots. Two juveniles charged after vandalism of Westville's Zamberletti Park Police found the victim, a 75-year-old woman, 'within seconds' upon arriving. She was getting ready for bed while she was shot in her bedroom, police said. Officers found several high-caliber ammunition casings on-scene. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she is listed as stable with non life-threatening injuries. Danville men arrested for unlawful possession, use of a weapon
On Friday, March 21, at around 9 p.m., members of the Danville Police Department Problem-Oriented Policing Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Gilbert and Williams Streets after witnessing a moving violation. 'P.O.P. officers made contact with two subjects in the vehicle who were identified as 19-year-old Alex Doe and 19-year-old Joshua S. Brocks both of Danville,' Danville Deputy Chief Terry McCord said. 'During the stop, officers witnessed a firearm in the vehicle and further investigation showed neither man could legally possess a firearm.' Both men were arrested and transported to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building for processing. Doe was found to be on probation in Vermilion County and was booked on the charge of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Brocks was booked on the charge of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
