DNeX secures Makkah Route contracts for 2025
CYBERJAYA: Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX), through wholly owned subsidiary Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd secured contracts with a cumulative value of US$1.8 million (RM7.7 million).
The contracts involve providing site facilitation and supplying technical and technological equipment across six international locations in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Turkiye.
This reaffirms the company's strategic role in facilitating the seamless hajj pilgrimage experience for Muslims worldwide, as the company continues its involvement in Saudi Arabia's Makkah Route initiative for 2025.
DNeX's group CEO Faizal Sham Abu Mansor said the company is honoured to continue contributing to this journey and facilitating the hajj pilgrimage through the initiative.
'Securing the same six sites for 2025 is a testament to the trust placed by Saudi Arabia in our capabilities and commitment.
'Our ongoing collaboration with authorities in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Turkiye also reflects our dedication to operational excellence in international partnerships,' he said.
The six sites involved are KUL-KLIA Terminal 1 (Malaysia), CGK–Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (Jakarta, Indonesia), SUB-Juanda International Airport (Surabaya, Indonesia), SOC-Adi Soemarmo Airport (Solo, Indonesia), IST-Istanbul Airport (Istanbul, Türkiye) and ESB-Ankara Esenboğa Airport (Ankara, Türkiye).
This initiative continues under the commission of Elm Company, a Saudi government-owned entity under the Public Investment Fund, the investment arm of the Saudi Finance Ministry.
The company is a pivotal digital solutions provider in Saudi Arabia and has been instrumental in supporting the Kingdom's digital transformation initiatives, particularly in enhancing services related to hajj and umrah.
Leveraging the company's suc-cessful track re-cord, full im-plementation for 2025 is actively progressing.
DNeX has been involved in the Makkah Route project since 2019.
The Makkah Route Initiative is spearheaded by Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry, in colla-boration with several other government entities.
This initiative is a key component of the Pilgrim Experience Program, which aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and expedites immigration pre-clearance for pilgrims departing from selected countries.
This eases their arrival in Saudi Arabia and enables direct transit to accommodation in Makkah and Madinah.
Having secured six of the 11 global Makkah Route sites this year, DNeX is optimistic about securing additional sites in the next hajj season.
The company also plans to deepen its colla-boration with Elm Company and explore opportunities in transportation and security.
This is in line with its strategy to expand its involvement in international government tech-nology and infra-structure projects.

Wilmar posts US$729m security deposit amid Indonesian corruption appeal, PPB discloses
PPB Group Bhd has announced that its associate company, Wilmar International Ltd, has placed a security deposit of 11.88 trillion Indonesian rupiah (approximately US$729 million or RM3.44 billion) with the Indonesian Attorney General's Office (AGO), in connection with an ongoing court appeal involving five of its subsidiaries. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, PPB, which holds an 18.8% interest in Wilmar, said the announcement was made by Wilmar on the Singapore Exchange following a press conference by the Attorney General of Indonesia on the same day. The case stems from charges brought by the AGO in April 2024 against five Wilmar subsidiaries, namely PT Multimas Nabati Asahan, PT Multi Nabati Sulawesi, PT Sinar Alam Permai, PT Wilmar Bioenergi Indonesia, and PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, for allegedly causing financial losses to the state, making unauthorised profits, and harming the business sector during a domestic cooking oil shortage between July and December 2021. The AGO claimed that the alleged actions led to total state losses of IDR12.3 trillion (about US$755 million), and subsequently appealed a Central Jakarta Court decision that favoured the Wilmar entities. In its statement, Wilmar said the AGO requested the group to 'demonstrate their belief in the Indonesian judicial system and their good faith and innocence, by placing a security deposit' equivalent to part of the alleged losses and supposed illegal gains. The Wilmar subsidiaries have complied with this request. Wilmar stated that the 'Security Deposit will be returned… if the Indonesian Supreme Court upholds the decision of the Central Jakarta Court, but may be forfeited, in full or in part… if the Indonesian Supreme Court finds against the Wilmar Respondents.' The group reiterated: 'The Wilmar Respondents continue to maintain that all actions taken by them were taken in good faith and free from any corrupt intent.' — TMR

Wentel Engineering optimistic on revenue growth for 2026, eyes Singapore market
KUALA LUMPUR: Metal fabricator and assembler Wentel Engineering Holdings Bhd is optimistic that its revenue growth will be good in 2026, especially with its business operations remaining strong, particularly in Singapore. Group CEO Chuah Chong Syn said the company targets its products at the Singaporean market more than the local market in Malaysia. 'Singapore's electronic and electrical (E&E) sector is on a strong multiyear growth trajectory, supported by global semiconductor recovery, rising electronics exports and a robust ecosystem of manufacturing and R&D infrastructure,' he explained. In April 2025, Singapore's electronics manufacturing output surged 15.2% year-on-year, outperforming regional peers and this reflects strong global demand for semiconductors, test equipment, and high-precision components, Chuah said at a press conference when announcing the company's first quarter FY 2025 results today. He said Wentel remains committed to leveraging its competitive strengths and expanding the company's market presence as means to drive value creation for stakeholders. This commitment will be supported by an expansion of a new manufacturing plant in Johor Bahru, which is targeted to commence operations in the first half of 2026. 'The new plant is expected to substantially enhance our production capacity and operational efficiencies, positioning us to capitalise on the resurgence of global trade economies. As demand rises, we are confident to achieve satisfactory financial performance for the coming year,' Chuah said. Wentel Engineering registered a profit after tax of RM6.1 million in the first quarter ended March 30, 2025, on the back of RM31.2 million in revenue. The growth is primarily attributed to high demand of E&E products including capital equipment, advanced packaging and wire bonding. There was no dividend declared for the quarter under review. Security screening equipment remained Wentel Engineering's fundamental business as it contributed 64.7% of its total revenue for the quarter. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the company's E&E segment, which produces semiconductors, is surging faster than its security screening equipment business, which falls under the semifinished and assembly segment. Financial controller Yap Yew Wei said this is because the semiconductor segment has large room to grow and they are starting off from a small base. 'We expect our security screening equipment business to make organic growth but no surge of revenue for now,' he said at the press conference. 'For the semiconductor segment there is room for us to pick up for both front end and back end customers,' he added. Yap said global semiconductor sales are projected to grow to US$697 billion (RM2.96 trillion) in 2025 from US$627 billion in 2024 (+11%), and Singapore contributes 11% of global chip output and 20% of chip equipment production.

No oil shortage on world market amid escalation of conflict in Middle East
ST. PETERSBURG: There is no oil shortage on the world market due to escalation of conflict in Middle East, but the associated risks are already reflected in prices, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Wednesday, according to Sputnik/RIA Novosti. "There is no such thing. The balance is maintained. Deliveries are being made. The market evaluates certain risks, so this is reflected, among other things, in the price," Novak said on the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) sidelines. Novak added that Russia sees no risk of reducing its oil exports, as numerous ships are currently waiting despite the escalation in the Middle East. "We do not see such [prerequisites]. The market is fully supplied with energy resources on the domestic market and for export," Novak replied when asked if there was a decline in Russian exports due to tankers taking a wait-and-see attitude at sea amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. Novak did not comment on forecasts of an increase in oil prices to US$100 per barrel amid the escalation in the Middle East. The Russian city of St. Petersburg will host the 28th edition of SPIEF from June 18-21 under the theme of "Shared Values: The Foundation of Growth in a Multipolar World". Rossiya Segodnya international media group, RIA Novosti's parent company, is the forum's information partner. -- BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
