Sisi, King Hamad Call for Peace, Warn of Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

H-Tayea
On Saturday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain to discuss the escalating tensions in the Middle East, amid growing concerns over the ongoing confrontation between Israel and Iran.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy, the two leaders voiced deep concern over the potential expansion of the conflict, warning of severe repercussions for the entire region. Both emphasized the urgent need for restraint, diplomatic resolution, and a renewed commitment from the international community to defuse the crisis.
President El-Sisi and King Hamad stressed that the current escalation is fundamentally tied to the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. They called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and warned of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe facing its population.
Both leaders underscored the urgent need for unimpeded humanitarian aid to reach Gaza and reaffirmed that a lasting solution requires the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Dialogue, not war, only path to lasting stability in region: Abdelatty to US envoy Witkoff

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed to US President Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff that Egypt believes there are no military solutions to the conflict between Israel and Iran, emphasizing that peaceful settlement and political dialogue remain the only viable path to lasting peace and stability in the region. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said this was said during a phone call on Saturday, within the framework of ongoing coordination and consultation between Egypt and the United States on rapidly evolving and dangerous regional developments. The Egyptian top diplomat stressed to the US envoy growing regional concerns amid the escalating military confrontation between Israel and Iran, and the serious threat they pose to the security and stability of the Middle East. Minister Abdelatty stressed to Witkoff the urgent need to de-escalate tensions, reach a ceasefire between the two sides, and restart US-Iran nuclear negotiations. For his part, Witkoff briefed the Egyptian minister on Washington's perspective on the unfolding situation and the efforts underway to give diplomacy a chance to contain the crisis. This was the third phone conversation between Abdelatty and Witkoff on the Israel-Iran situation this week. Earlier on Saturday, in a speech during the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul, FM Abdelatty said Egypt has condemned Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, warning that they violate international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations (UN) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolutions. He said the Israeli aggression on Iran - a direct violation of international law and the UN Charter - had preempted Washington-Tehran talks brokered by Oman, aimed at reviving diplomacy over Iran's nuclear programme. 'These negotiations aimed to prevent the region from descending into a new wave of escalation and conflict, which would negatively impact all countries in the region.' Abdelatty reiterated that 'there are no military solutions to this crisis,' urging a ceasefire, return to negotiations, and 'halt [to] the current military escalation.' He also called for a comprehensive approach to Iran's nuclear file. He renewed Egypt's call for a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction, criticizing Israel's refusal to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) or to place its nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards. Before speaking to Witkoff, FM Abdelatty discussed the ongoing Israeli aggression on Iran and efforts to de-escalate the conflict between Tel-Aviv and Tehran with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Turkey on Saturday. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Minister Abdelatty reviewed with Araghchi intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken in recent days to de-escalate the conflict and achieve a ceasefire. Adelatty stressed to Araghchi the importance of pursuing diplomatic and political avenues to reach a sustainable agreement on Iran's nuclear program, to contain the escalating situation, and prevent further instability in the region. Kuwait Begins Evacuating Citizens from Iran

Israa Farhan Kuwait has officially begun evacuating its citizens from Iran as regional tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv escalate, according to a statement issued by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday. In the early hours of 21 June 2025, Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah welcomed the first group of Kuwaiti nationals returning from Iran via Turkmenistan. The evacuation is part of a broader government-led operation to ensure the safety of citizens abroad amid mounting instability in the region. The ministry noted that the evacuation effort reflects the directives of Kuwait's political leadership, which has prioritized the security and welfare of its citizens overseas. The repatriation operation is being carried out in close coordination with Kuwaiti embassies and diplomatic partners. The statement also expressed Kuwait's deep appreciation to the governments of Turkmenistan and Iran for their cooperation and logistical support in facilitating the safe transit of evacuees. Kuwaiti officials confirmed that the evacuation process will continue around the clock until all nationals currently residing in Iran are safely returned. The foreign ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working with regional partners and relevant authorities to complete the mission with the highest level of efficiency and responsibility. This move comes in the wake of a sharp rise in hostilities between Israel and Iran, with multiple Israeli strikes reportedly targeting Iranian nuclear and military facilities since 13 June. Tehran has repeatedly insisted that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and has responded to what it calls acts of aggression. Kuwait joins a growing list of countries that have either closed their embassies in Iran or initiated evacuation procedures for their citizens due to fears of further escalation in the Middle East. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand
