Ralph Fiennes Joins "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" as President Snow
Yara Sameh
Ralph Fiennes has been cast as the villainous President Coriolanus Snow in 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.'
He joins previously announced cast members Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Lili Taylor as Mags, and Ben Wang as Wyatt.
The formidable leader of Panem has previously been portrayed by Donald Sutherland in the original four films, and in his younger years by Tom Blyth in 2023's 'A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.' Fiennes' Snow will fall between the two, 40 years after the events of 'Songbirds' and 24 years before Katniss Everdeen's time in the arena.
Fiennes, a BAFTA and Tony winner, most recently starred in Edward Berger's 'Conclave,' which earned him Oscar and Golden Globe nominations as well as a SAG Award for the ensemble cast.
He's next set to appear in Danny Boyle's '28 Years Later.'
The film adaptation of 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' will be released on November 20, 2026.
Lawrence, who has helmed every installment of the franchise since 2012's 'Catching Fire,' will direct from a screenplay adaptation by Billy Ray. Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will produce. Cameron MacConomy will executive produce. The five films in the franchise so far have taken in over $3.3 billion at the box office.
'We wanted to honor Donald Sutherland by having one of this generation's greatest actors play President Snow 24 years before Katniss Everdeen entered the arena,' Jacobson said. 'Working with Ralph has been on my bucket list since he traumatized me for life in 'Schindler's List.' It's genuinely a thrill to welcome him to the Hunger Games.'
Jacobson spoke earlier this year about the series' ability to attract acclaimed talent like Viola Davis and Julianne Moore (and now Fiennes). 'We've been blessed with very sophisticated actors in our roles. They draw in and attract real acting talent, because her characters are so deep, the ideas are so powerful. It's a franchise that is still really rooted in incredible character trauma,' she told
Variety
.
'Sunrise on the Reaping' sold 1.5 million copies in its first week on sale in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The 1.2 million copies sold in the U.S. are twice the first week sales of 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' and three times the first week sales of 'Mockingjay.'
Meredith Wieck and Scott O'Brien are overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Phil Strina negotiated the deal for the studio.

Emily Hampshire Cast as E.D.I.T.H. in "WandaVision" Spinoff "Vision"
Yara Sameh Marvel Studios' "WandaVision" spin-off series "Vision" has landed 'Schitt's Creek' star Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., the Stark Industries artificial intelligence introduced in 2019's 'Spider-Man: Far From Home.' Hampshire joins Paul Bettany, who is reprising his role as the now-reincarnated synthezoid character, the physical manifestation of another Stark Industries AI, Jarvis. In 'Far From Home,' E.D.I.T.H. is presented as a gift that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) bequeaths to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) after Stark sacrifices his life in 'Avengers: Endgame.' (The name stands for 'Even Dead, I'm The Hero.') Peter controls E.D.I.T.H. through a pair of high-tech sunglasses, which he unwittingly gives to the film's villain, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), before retrieving them at the end of the movie. The glasses are confiscated after Peter's identity as Spider-Man is revealed to the world, and E.D.I.T.H.'s ultimate fate is left unresolved. It's unclear whether Hampshire is just lending her voice to the role or will be embodying it as well, but the character will be one of several AIs to populate the series. James Spader is reprising his role as Ultron, the villain from 2015's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' and T'Nia Miller ('The Diplomat') is playing Jocasta, another robotic character from the Marvel Comics. Other co-stars include Todd Stashwick ('Star Trek: Picard'), Ruaridh Mollica ('Ridley') and Faran Tahir, who is reprising the role of 'Iron Man' villain Raza. Terry Matalas ('Star Trek: Picard,' '12 Monkeys') is the executive producer and showrunner for the Vision series, which is set to debut in 2026. Best known for her standout role as Stevie Budd on 'Schitt's Creed,' Hampshire most recently starred on the Amazon series 'The Rig.' She'll next appear opposite Vince Vaughn and James Marsden in the action comedy 'Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

"One of Them Days" Sequel in Works with SZA and Keke Palmer Returning
Yara Sameh A sequel to SZA and Keke Palmer's hit comedy 'One of Them Days' is in early development at TriStar Pictures. SZA and Palmer are expected to return for the new movie, along with the film's original creative team, but plot details are still being kept under wraps. Directed by Lawrence Lamont in his feature debut and from a script written by Syreeta Singleton, 'One of Them Days' was a breakout hit at the box office, grossing over $50 million worldwide after its January release — a particularly strong number for an R-rated mid-budget comedy. The critically acclaimed movie (with a stellar 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes) was also a standout on Netflix, where it spent three weeks on the giant streamer's top 10 list. "One of Them Days" follows best friends and roommates Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) as they race against the clock to avoid eviction when they discover Alyssa's partner has blown their rent money on the same day Dreux has an important interview for her dream gig. The South Los Angeles-set movie, which drew comparisons to classic comedies like 'Friday,' also stars Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage, Dewayne Perkins, Amin Joseph, Gabrielle Dennis, and DomiNque Perry. 'One of Them Days' was produced by Issa Rae's Hoorae Media with Macro Film Studios co-financing. Producers also included ColorCreative co-founder Deniese Davis, Hoorae's Sara Rastogi and Macro's James Lopez and Poppy Hanks. Executive producers were Palmer, Sharon Palmer, Charles D. King and Jeff Valeri. The film was born from the CoCre lab at Sony Pictures, which was a previous collaboration between the studio and ColorCreative to source and incubate emerging, diverse screenwriters to develop and write their first studio feature based on original ideas. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream
