Map shows where 10 new Aldi shops will open this summer
Not only is the German supermarket opening new branches, but there are 30 existing shops which are set to receive a refurb in the coming weeks.
Aldi is already the UK's fourth-largest supermarket with more than 1,000 shops nationwide, but now it's bringing its wares to new areas like Oldbury in the West Midlands, Fulham Broadway in London and Deeside in Wales.
The brand hopes to eventually open 1,500 shops in the UK, and says it's spending £650million in 2025 towards that goal.
These 10 new shops are set to open in the next 14 weeks, the brand says, and each new branch will create about 40 new jobs.
In total, Aldi plans to open 40 new shops this year.
Of those, it hopes to open nine branches within the M25, spending £55million in the capital.
Jonathan Neale from Aldi UK said: 'At Aldi, our goal is to ensure everyone has access to high-quality food at unbeatable prices, and we're committed to achieving that with our ambitious store opening plans.
'We're targeting 40 new store openings in 2025, while many of our current stores will also be getting a refresh to enhance the customer experience, meaning we can consistently offer the best value for money to even more shoppers across the UK.' More Trending
Aldi also says it's increasing pay for its staff later this year – the second of 2025.
Back in March hourly rates increased to at least £12.75 (or £14.05 within the M25), but by September the rate will go up to £12.85 for those outside the M25 and £14.16 within.
The budget supermarket had its best-ever Christmas last year, making £1.6billion in the four weeks to Christmas Eve.
These are the 10 new Aldi supermarkets set to open in the next 14 weeks: Brighouse, West Yorkshire Oldbury, West Midlands Caterham, Surrey Sheffield, South Yorkshire Deeside, Wales Fulham Broadway, London Diss, Norfolk Hilton, Derbyshire West Denton, Newcastle Market Harborough, Leicestershire

Cheapest UK supermarket: Lidl beats Aldi, Tesco and Asda
Which? found that Lidl had beaten Aldi for the first time since October 2023. The products included Hovis sliced bread, milk and cheese, and the consumer experts checked prices at eight of the UK's biggest supermarkets throughout July. Supermarket average price for 76 items According to the Which? report, Lidl was the cheapest overall, beating rival discounter Aldi by £1.25 if you had a Lidl Plus card, or 85p if not. The third cheapest was Asda, which doesn't offer loyalty pricing in the same way as the others. Tesco without a loyalty card was still cheaper than shopping at Morrisons with one. Sainsbury's was running Nectar price promotions on 15 items, while Tesco had Clubcard prices on 16. Meanwhile, Morrisons had two More scheme discounts on items in our basket, and Lidl had three items on our list with a loyalty discount. Waitrose had no loyalty deals on the shopping list items. It was the most expensive supermarket again this month, averaging £170.91 – that's over £42 (or 33%) more than Lidl. UK inflation rose to a near 18-month high this summer as food prices shot up for the third month running. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said Consumer Prices Index inflation rose to 3.6% in June, up from 3.4% in May and the highest since January 2024. The increase was unexpected, with most economists forecasting inflation to remain unchanged at 3.4%. Chancellor Rachel Reeves says there's 'more to do' to help bring inflation down. She said: 'I know working people are still struggling with the cost of living.' 'There is more to do and I'm determined we deliver on our Plan for Change to put more money into people's pockets,' she added. Rob Mansfield, Independent Financial Advisor at Rootes Wealth Management, says: 'The cost of living crisis continues to bite. The rise in motor fuels was expected given the war in the Middle East and it shows how vulnerable our island is to events all over the globe. "Most people can't avoid these price rises, so they ask for higher wages, which can in turn drive up prices.' The figures come after gross domestic product (GDP) shrank by 0.1% in May, following a 0.3% fall in April and leading to fears of a contraction overall in the third quarter. Most economists think the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will cut interest rates by 0.25 percentage points to 4% on Thursday. Manchester United have beaten competition from Newcastle to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig after relying on the expertise and relationships of one of their staff Benjamin Sesko has made the leap from RB Leipzig to Manchester United in a £74million transfer – and there will be one familiar face at Old Trafford. Sesko has snubbed a move to Newcastle in favour of joining United, who have paid £66.4m up front plus a further £7.6m in potential add-ons. The 22-year-old striker will slot into Ruben Amorim's new-look front line, alongside fellow new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. United's press release announcing the capture of Sesko makes it clear how delighted they are to land the Slovenia international in what they view as a coup, given their lack of European football this season. 'The desire that all of our new signings have shown to join the club this summer highlights the appeal and stature of Manchester United,' said director of football Jason Wilcox. That may well be true, but Wilcox also has one of his colleagues to thank after landing Sesko from under Newcastle 's nose. Christopher Vivell was instrumental in getting the deal over the line, thanks in large part to his connections with Sesko and his agent Elvis Basanovic. Vivell only joined United last summer, initially as an interim director of recruitment, but by February he had secured the role permanently. Omar Berrada, who joined the club from Manchester City last summer to become chief executive, had pushed for Vivell's arrival, having got on well with him in their previous roles. The 38-year-old German left Chelsea under a cloud in July 2023, just seven months after arriving as technical director. But Berrada and United were not fazed and brought him in. They are now seeing the fruits of that decision. Vivell has a good reputation in Germany, where he began at Hoffenheim before joining the Red Bull Group. That is where he encountered Sesko, signing him for Red Bull Salzburg initially before bringing him to sister club Leipzig in 2023. Sesko scored 39 goals in 87 games for Leipzig, attracting plenty of Premier League attention, including from Arsenal. And while he cited United's history and the project laid out by Ruben Amorim as reasons for joining, he also was encouraged by Vivell's presence, having had only good experiences in his previous two moves involving the German. Sesko isn't the only highly rated young striker who Vivell has snapped up in his time, as United well know. Back in 2019, United wanted to sign Erling Haaland from Molde, having been given a recommendation by then-managed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But they did not succeed in chasing the Norwegian superstar, who snubbed a succession of bigger clubs to join Salzburg, having been courted by Vivell. 'The big clubs wanted him too,' he later explained. 'But they wanted to do a loan programme, which neither his father nor Erling wanted. That's why we managed to bring him to us.' Vivell worked with former United manager Ralf Rangnick at Red Bull and also tried to hire Erik ten Hag for Leipzig before he left Ajax for United. Those connections are incidental compared to those with Sesko, which helped land who United hope will be the answer to their goalscoring woes.
