Kate Middleton Shared Hilarious Reply After Being Mistaken for Prince William's Assistant

Yahoo26-05-2025

Kate Middleton had a witty reply to being mistaken for her husband Prince William's assistant during a royal outing in 2020
Princess Kate, 43, joked that she had been in the role "for a long time"
Royal biographer Penny Junor previously told PEOPLE that Kate "doesn't outshine William but still has a lot to say herself"Kate Middleton knew just what to say when she was once mistaken for Prince William's assistant.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are a tight team and recently rang in their 14th wedding anniversary, but Princess Kate's previous quip about how she supports her husband is making the rounds now. The interaction happened in August 2020 when Prince William, 42, and Princess Kate, 43, visited Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff, Wales, and one resident said something blunt.
According to Hello! magazine, William and Kate reconnected there with Joan Drew-Smith. The royals previously played bingo with Drew-Smith, who then said, "You did a bloody s----- job" about their bingo calling skills when William brought it up.
The Prince and Princess of Wales (who were then known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) wore face masks at the nursing home amid the COVID pandemic, which William explained might hinder communication.
"We have to wear masks because of the virus, but it's difficult to hear sometimes when you can't see someone's mouth," he said to Drew-Smith, who then pointed to Kate and asked him, "Is that your assistant?"
With a laugh, Kate said, "Well I am your assistant! I have been for a long time!"
Taking it in stride, Hello! reported that Prince William later told staff, "I love Joan, she's brilliant. If only everyone was as honest as her."
Kate embraced a full-time working royal role after she married Prince William in April 2011 and introduced herself in an unexpected way while meeting school children in Scotland in 2023.
"Who am I? I'm married to William," Princess Kate said in a video shared to X while mingling with students from Burghead Primary School in Moray in November 2023.
"She's never trying to outshine him in any way," royal biographer Penny Junor previously told PEOPLE about the dynamic William and Kate share. "I think that Kate is a bit like Prince Philip supporting the Queen. She doesn't outshine William but still has a lot to say herself."
Princess Kate's reply highlighted her supportive role to William, who is heir to the British throne and expected to be king one day.
The Prince and Princess of Wales most recently stepped out together to attend the ship naming ceremony of the HMS Glasgow in Scotland on May 22, where Kate led the way as the warship's sponsor. Kate channeled Princess Diana through style and pressed a button to release whisky against the ship's hull during the naming ceremony, a special honor as the ship's sponsor.

Royal watchers won't expect to see the Prince and Princess of Wales out and about this week, however, as their three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, are on a half-term break from school. William and Kate are known to scale back their schedules when their kids are out of the classroom to all spend time together.

'Bachelor 'Alum Vanessa Grimaldi Shares She Experienced Second Miscarriage in a Year: 'Still Feels Surreal'

Vanessa Grimaldi has experienced her second miscarriage in less than a year. On Monday, June 9, the former Bachelor star, 37, posted a series of slides on her Instagram and revealed that she experienced another miscarriage, her second in the past year. Titled "When the Heart Breaks Again: Miscarriage No. 2," the slides shared Grimaldi's candid thoughts after learning she had miscarried a second time. "This is my second miscarriage. Saying that out loud still feels surreal," Grimaldi wrote. "Especially finding out during my ultrasound. Again. It adds another layer to the grief, one that's heavier, more complicated and harder to put into words." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Grimaldi, who is mom to son Winston, 2, shared that the only place that's bringing her peace in her home is sitting in her son's room. "It's comforting in a way I can't quite explain," Grimaldi wrote. "I'm so incredibly grateful for him. My healthy, joyful little boy," she continued. "And at the same time, my heart aches for the baby I never got to meet. I keep thinking about Winston as a newborn. All the firsts, the sleepy snuggles, the tiny milestones. I imagined getting to live through those moments again." "But instead, I'm left with the silence of what could have been. Again," wrote Grimaldi. She went on to say her mind "feels foggy" and said while she's usually good at making space for her feelings, she now just wants to stay busy and avoid the "heaviness." "Grief is strange. It sneaks in, even in the middle of gratitude," Grimaldi said. "But today, Josh helped me do one small thing just for me. He got me an iced cappuccino. Something I haven't had since finding out I was pregnant." "It felt simple. But also like the first step back to myself. A small moment of comfort in a sea of ache," she continued. "And to every mama navigating this kind of heartbreak, I'm sending you so much love and comfort." In September, Grimaldi posted a series of slides on her Instagram and shared that she experienced a miscarriage. "I wasn't sure how to share this. But, I knew I wanted to," she began. "A few months ago, I had the 2 biggest surprises: finding out I was pregnant, then finding out I miscarried," Grimaldi said. She continued, saying it took a while to allow her body to let go as she went through ultrasounds, blood tests, doctor appointments and many conversations with friends. "It was a hard yet bonding process that made me feel less alone and ultimately helped me heal," Grimaldi said. Read the original article on People

Diddy Called Her 'Crack Pipe' — Then She Suggested He Go to Rehab, Ex Testifies

Sean "Diddy" Combs' trial continues after the judge struck down the defense's motion for mistrial One of his former girlfriends says she wanted him to get help towards the end of their relationship Jane, who is testifying under a pseudonym, was in a relationship with Diddy until his arrest last yearSean "Diddy" Combs' girlfriend asked him to seek help in rehab towards the end of their relationship, she told the jury at the music mogul's trial. The witness, who is testifying under the pseudonym "Jane," elaborated in court Combs' alleged relationship with drugs as she went under cross-examination on Tuesday, June 10. Jurors heard a voice note that Combs sent to Jane around March 2023, shortly after they returned from a trip to Turks and Caicos. 'You are the crack pipe. That's my new name for you: crack pipe," he said in the voice note. "Call you CP." Combs seemed unwell towards the end of their relationship, prompting her to suggest rehab, Jane told the jury. 'I felt he was developing jaundice,' she said. 'His gums were gray, probably from drug use,' Jane continued. 'I felt that his hands were shaky probably from over-consuming alcohol.' When she suggested he go to rehab, Combs responded: 'What the hell, you think I need rehab?' This wasn't the first mention of drugs in the trial. During her testimony last week, Jane alleged Combs made her transport drugs across state lines on at least two occasions, and she was able to do so with advice from his former chief of staff Kristina Khorram. Jane has also alleged Combs often gave her drugs such as ecstasy to get her prepared for "Hotel Nights," days-long sex sessions where she was allegedly forced to engage with other men, she told the court. Combs has not been charged with any drug-related offenses. Jane's testimony rings remarkably similar to several claims by Combs' other former girlfriend, Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, the prosecution's star witness. Similar to Jane, Ventura also alleged Combs forced her to engage in sexual encounters with men, often for days on end — though in her case, they were allegedly called "Freak Offs." Combs has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution; he has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Jamie Foxx suffered a stroke that left him unable to walk in April 2023 He returned to work in January 2024 after months of rehab Foxx thanked his family for taking care of him in his acceptance speech at the 2025 BET AwardsJamie Foxx feels lucky to be alive after his life-threatening health emergency in April 2023. While filming Netflix's Back in Action in Atlanta, Foxx suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke. Things were "touch and go" for roughly 15 days; afterwards, the actor was in the hospital and rehab for months, relearning to walk and talk. During the 2025 BET Awards, Foxx got emotional while discussing the medical crisis, recalling asking for "one more crack" at life. "I gotta be honest — when I saw the 'in memoriam' [portion of the awards show], I was like man, that could have been me," he said. "But I don't know why I went through what I went through, but I know my second chance I'm not going turn down. I'm not going to turn down." He continued, "Whatever reason you put this on me, I promise I'mma do right. I'mma do right in front of y'all, because I know a lot of times, when we get on we forget about where we come from." So what happened to Jamie Foxx? Here's everything to know about the actor's medical emergency and how his health is today. On April 11, 2023, Foxx suffered a brain bleed that caused a stroke. The first doctor the "Blame It" singer visited that day gave him a cortisone shot for a bad headache and sent him home, according to Foxx, who recalled his scary health crisis during his Netflix special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.... His sister, Deidra Dixon, knew something more serious was going on, so she took Foxx to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. The Ray star was evaluated by a second doctor, who determined that emergency brain surgery was necessary. "When you dream about what you want to be in life, you don't dream tragedy. But when something does go wrong, you need a sister," Foxx said to the audience. Following the surgery, the doctor informed Dixon that her brother "may be able to make a full recovery, but it's going to be the worst year of his life." In an eerie twist of events, Foxx had a conversation with his team about getting his affairs in order just before his stroke. "[They asked], 'Jamie, wanna go over some papers just in case something happens?' I said, 'What's gonna happen to me?' [Then], boom! Gone," he exclusively told PEOPLE in March 2025. Foxx lost all memory of his medical incident, claiming in his Netflix special, "I don't remember 20 days." According to the star, things were "touch and go" for roughly 15 days. "They thought they were going to lose me because my vitals were out of control. That's when a miracle happened and that miracle was working through my youngest daughter," Foxx continued, sharing that his younger daughter, Anelise, snuck into his hospital room with her guitar. "When she was playing my vitals went down. It was God in that guitar," he added. Foxx woke up in early May only to discover that he was in a wheelchair unable to walk. Shortly after, he gave fans a health update on Instagram, which read: "Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed." The Stealth actor was flown to Chicago in May 2023, where he spent weeks learning how to walk again at a rehabilitation facility. During his comedy special, Foxx described himself as "irreverent" in the early days of working with his physical therapist Holly, and psychiatrist Dragana, but he eventually turned a corner. In July 2023, a source told PEOPLE that Foxx threw a party at the rehab center to "celebrate being better." By August of that same year, the "You Changed Me" singer finally started to feel like himself again. "It's been an unexpected dark journey ... but I can see the light," he wrote on Instagram. Foxx returned to work less than a year after his stroke. He resumed filming Back in Action with Diaz in January 2024, and a month later, he teased his return to stand-up comedy. "I got some jokes, and a story to tell," Foxx wrote on Instagram. In March 2024, the actor also announced his return to Beat Shazam, which he hosts alongside his daughter Corinne. Nick Cannon and Kelly Osbourne stepped in as hosts for season 6 amid Foxx's health scare. The Annie star didn't just get to return to work in 2024 either: He also had the honor of walking Corinne down the aisle at her wedding to Joe Hooten in October. "It was incredibly special, considering his health scare last year," Corinne told Vogue. "There wasn't a dry eye in the house when we came down the aisle." Foxx tearfully shared the long-awaited story about his health emergency in his Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.... He told the audience that he was "angry" with God and didn't understand why something so traumatic had happened to him. "Finally, it came to me. It's about blessings. God blessed me with his talent. He blessed me with all this money and this fame. And when I forgot about God, he blessed me with a stroke," Foxx said. Foxx added that he never let go of his comedic background during the ordeal. "The only thing I could hold on to was my sense of humor," Foxx told the audience. "I couldn't necessarily walk that good. I couldn't talk that good. But I didn't let go of my funny. I said, 'If I can stay funny, I can stay alive.' " After filming the show in October 2024, Foxx spoke to CBS Mornings' Gayle King backstage and admitted that creating his special was emotionally taxing. "It was an excruciating time, to be able to open those wounds every single day for three months," he said. On June 9, 2025, Foxx received the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards. In his emotional acceptance speech, he touched on his medical crisis and paid tribute to those who saved his life. "I have to thank my sister, Deidra. When I went through what I was going through, she shut it down. She made sure that she took care of her brother," Foxx said, before shouting out his daughter Corrine. "I cannot say enough about you. You've always taken the backseat to everything. But when you needed to drive it, you drove. And you made sure I was here. And I ain't going to turn down," the actor continued. Lastly, Foxx mentioned his younger daughter, Anelise. "My baby with the big hair. She hides under that hair because she's got something special. You're so beautiful man," he said. "She snuck into my hospital room with her guitar and said, 'I know what my daddy need.' " Read the original article on People
