Mid East Info12-02-2025

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 2025: The Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences have announced the winners of the 4th Hamdan-ICESCO Prize for Voluntary Development of Educational Facilities in the Islamic World. The prize honors outstanding voluntary initiatives that support and develop educational environments in countries of the Islamic world.
The Hamdan-ICESCO Prize aims to achieve several strategic objectives, including encouraging and rewarding voluntary initiatives in education, promoting sustainable development efforts to create new and lasting educational environments, and supporting educational infrastructure in the Muslim world. These efforts contribute to improving education quality and ensuring equal access to educational opportunities.
Announced in December 2023, the fourth edition of the prize attracted applications from both organizations and individuals across various Islamic countries. This year, nine educational initiatives from seven countries participated, reflecting the growing interest in voluntary action within the education sector.
Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of ICESCO, commended the prize's role in fostering voluntary action in education and highlighted the importance of developing educational facilities as a cornerstone for societal advancement.
'Ensuring sustainable and inclusive education requires continuous support for voluntary efforts and philanthropic initiatives, which is the essence of this prize, organized in partnership with Hamdan Foundation. This edition's winning projects reflect a real commitment to achieving positive change in beneficiary communities and provide pioneering models that can inspire further initiatives in the future. ICESCO remains committed to strengthening this initiative by collaborating with organizations that support education, contributing to the overall advancement of the sector,' Dr. AlMalik stated.
H.E. Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, emphasized that the prize reflects the foundation's vision of fostering an advanced educational environment that supports sustainable development in Islamic countries.
'Investment in education is key to the future of societies. This prize honors and recognizes voluntary efforts that contribute to improving the educational environment. This edition's winners have provided exceptional examples of projects with real impact, helping to build modern and sustainable learning environments and opening new horizons for students in beneficiary communities. We are proud of our partnership with ICESCO and look forward to supporting more inspiring projects that enhance the quality of education in the Muslim world,' H.E. Al Qatami added.
The Prize Jury selected three outstanding institutions for their pioneering projects in developing educational facilities: Hadramawt Foundation – Human Development (Yemen): Awarded for its 'Pilot High Schools' project (Models), which aims to establish and develop modern pilot high schools in Hadramawt Governorate, enhancing the region's education quality.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation (Azerbaijan): Recognized for its 'Educational and Social Support Project,' which focuses on building and rehabilitating schools in multiple countries, both within and beyond the Islamic world.
Moroccan Foundation for Primary Education (Morocco): Honored for its initiative to equip primary education departments in rural, semi-rural, and urban areas across the Kingdom, ensuring an integrated learning environment for children in remote regions.
This edition of the prize reinforces its commitment to encouraging voluntary initiatives that improve educational environments by recognizing innovative solutions to infrastructure challenges in the education sector. The strong participation numbers further establish the Hamdan-ICESCO Prize as one of the leading programs supporting voluntary action in education and contributing to the sustainable development of the sector across the Islamic world.
The winners will be honored at an upcoming official award ceremony, where each will receive the prize shield and a financial award to support their projects and benefit their target communities.

Happy Eid, Op-ed

Elham Aboul Fateh Happy Eid to you all! Today marks the second day of the blessed Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Adha is not merely a holiday filled with joy and delight; it is a sacred moment, recurring over thousands of years, to remind us of the greatest lessons of faith and sacrifice. The story of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who said to himself, "Indeed, I am going to my Lord; He will guide me" (Surah As-Saffat: 99), as he prepared to carry out God's command to sacrifice his dearest possession, his beloved son, is a message that remains etched in our hearts and souls. His obedience was without hesitation, and his faith was unwavering, until Allah, out of His mercy, replaced the sacrifice with a magnificent ram. Thus, it was both redemption and mercy simultaneously. O Allah, Protector of the heavens and the earth, we ask You to protect our children and safeguard our country from all harm. Make our beloved Egypt a homeland of peace and glory, steadfast against fierce winds, strong by Your wisdom and mercy. O Allah, grant us a good ending, and grant us a sincere intention to build the earth with goodness and righteous deeds. O Allah, Most Generous and Merciful, You who hold dominion over the heavens and the earth, we ask You in these blessed days to protect our country from all evil and to lift every worry and grief from our homeland. O Allah, keep Egypt safe and resilient in Your care, illuminating its paths with the light of Your wisdom, and raising its banner of glory high and unshakeable. O Allah, keep our children and families in Your preservation and safety, guard them from every danger, and fill their hearts with tranquility and faith. O Allah, grant us strength of resolve, expand our provisions, and bless our time and deeds. O Allah, just as You commanded Prophet Ibrahim to obey You and brought him closer to You through sacrifice, make us also closer to You, and keep us firm on the path of truth and righteous deeds. O Allah, make all our days Eids – Eids of peace, security, and success. Protect our homeland Egypt from all harm, and make it a land of goodness, dignity, and prosperity. O Allah with whom trusts are never lost, O Allah with whom hope is never disappointed, all praise is due to You for Your countless blessings, and all thanks are due to You for Your unending grace. Amen, O Lord of the Worlds. May Egypt, its people and government, and the entire Islamic world be in peace and safety every year. read more Analysis- Turkey Has 0 Regional Allies... Why? Muslims Across Europe Celebrate with Tradition, Reflection, Resilience

Ahmed Emam As Muslims across Europe prepare to mark Eid al-Adha this week, the mood is a blend of joy, deep-rooted tradition, and quiet reflection on the suffering of communities around the world. From the festive gatherings in the UK's West Midlands to the warm familial customs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Eid remains a deeply meaningful time — a spiritual milestone that both uplifts and unites. >>Eid in the Park: A Communal Celebration in the UK In Birmingham's Small Heath Park and Wolverhampton's West Park, tens of thousands are expected to gather this Friday for Eid in the Park, a celebration that has become a cornerstone of Muslim life in the West Midlands. Organized by community groups such as the Green Lane Mosque and Community Centre (GLMCC), the event is not only a prayer gathering but also a cultural festival — bringing together families, friends, and neighbors in the open air. Yet amid the festive spirit, there is a shared sense of global awareness. 'I think it would be an understatement to say that our hearts are with people who are suffering right now,' said Haniya Aadam of GLMCC, acknowledging the weight of ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises across the Muslim world. This year's Eid, she says, carries 'a collective grief and hope.' For many in the UK's diverse Muslim population, Eid al-Adha is both a spiritual duty and a day of public expression — of identity, solidarity, and faith in action. >>Bosnia's Bajram: A Tapestry of Tradition and Family In Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Eid is known as Bajram, the festival is steeped in intimate family rituals and rich culinary traditions. Eid morning begins early, with the men of the family attending the Fajr (dawn) prayer followed by the Eid prayer, after which the family reconvenes at home for warm greetings, hand-kissing, and blessings. A centuries-old tradition continues as families serve lavish meals that include beloved dishes like sarma (cabbage rolls), Bosanski lonac (Bosnian pot), dolma, and Bey's soup. Desserts such as baqlava, ruzica, and tufahije are lovingly prepared — some passed down through generations. Children play a central role in the Bosnian Eid, receiving "bajramluk" — gifts of money or sweets — after visiting their elders. The joy of children is mirrored by nostalgic practices: sewing new clothes, reciting "tekbirs" in mosques, and gathering at the home of the oldest family member on the first day. The second day is more solemn — known as the Day of the Martyrs, many families visit cemeteries to honor the deceased. In some regions, a unique tradition called the 'Female Eid' once marked a fourth day, when women who had hosted guests for days would finally gather to celebrate amongst themselves. >>A Festival of Faith, Reflection, and Forgiveness Across Europe, Eid is more than a religious holiday — it is a cultural anchor. It serves as a moment of renewal, reconciliation, and forgiveness. Disputes are set aside, families reconnect, and communities come together — not only to share meals and exchange gifts but also to remember those in need. Whether under grey skies in the UK or under Balkan summer sun, the essence of Eid remains the same: a sacred celebration of sacrifice, charity, and unity. As families pray, feast, and reflect, this year's Eid is marked by both resilience and remembrance — a festival for the present, rooted in the past, and mindful of a hopeful future. read more 2 Most Inspirational Green Projects in Egypt AEW Dynamite, WWE NXT to Strive over Viewership Tonight Egypt Marks 70th Anniv. of 2011 Revolution, National Police Day In Depth: WWE NXT Halloween Havoc In Depth: AEW Dynamite, WWE NXT Tuesday Viewership Strive Videos & Features WATCH: Egyptians Break Ramadan Fasts in Matariya Videos & Features GrEEk Campus Hosts Jobzella Fifth Career Fair Videos & Features 3 Iconic Ramadan Songs of All Times Videos & Features Top 4 Destinations to Visit in Upper Egypt News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

Pakistan Condemns Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Escalating Israeli Atrocities

SEENEWS Pakistan strongly condemns the provocative storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the escalating Israeli atrocities. These reprehensible acts, including violations at multiple entrances of the Mosque, are a direct assault on the sanctity, historical character, and legal status of the revered Muslim holy site. Such reprehensible actions not only deeply offend the sentiments of Muslims worldwide but also risk igniting further unrest in an already volatile environment. These are clear violations of international law and must be halted immediately. Furthermore, the ongoing targeting of innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza by the Israeli occupying power is a matter of deep concern . The killing of nearly 100 Palestinian civilians in the last 24 hours alone, including those waiting near food distribution sites, shows the continued impunity with which Israeli occupying forces continue to commit crimes against humanity. We call upon the international community to take urgent and meaningful action to stop these atrocities and to hold Israeli occupying forces accountable for their blatant and systematic violations of international law. We also call for ensuring unfettered humanitarian access to millions in Gaza, as well as to preserve the sanctity and the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque . Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their just struggle for their right to self-determination. We reiterate our call for the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian State, based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream
