Apple has announced several new features coming to Logic Pro for Macs and iPads. With version 11.2 for Macs and 2.2 for iPads, Logic Pro now includes upgrades to the Stem Splitter tool, which can isolate different instrument tracks more accurately. One standout addition is Flashback Capture, which lets users recover MIDI and audio—even if they forgot to press record. Apple has also introduced new sound packs like Dancefloor Rush, Magnetic Imperfections and more.

Updated Stem Splitter:
Apple said that the Stem Splitter tool now works better with old recordings and demos. It also adds support for separating guitar and piano sounds into different audio tracks (stems). This makes it easier for users to isolate specific instruments or vocals.
Apple has also added quick presets to help users create common audio versions like acapella or instrumental tracks. A new 'submix' export option lets users remove certain parts of a song — for example, taking out vocals to make an instrumental version or removing drums and bass for a remix.
Flashback Capture:
With the new Flashback Capture feature, musicians can recover music performances even if they forgot to hit the record button. Using a simple key command or control bar button, users can restore both MIDI and audio. If the Cycle mode is turned on, Flashback Capture automatically saves each take into a folder.
New Sound Packs:
Apple is also adding new sound packs for music creators:
Dancefloor Rush (Mac and iPad): Over 400 loops and drum kits designed for electronic and drum-and-bass music.
Magnetic Imperfections (Mac only): Adds the sound of old-school analog tape with an unpolished, gritty texture.
Tosin Abasi (Mac only): Features signature metal guitar tones, amps, effects, and riffs from the progressive metal guitarist.
Learn MIDI on iPad:
Previously available only on Mac, the Learn MIDI tool now comes to iPad. It allows users to link physical knobs, buttons, and sliders on MIDI devices to control instruments and plug-ins in Logic Pro, offering more hands-on control during music production.
Logic Pro for Mac and iPad: Price and availability
Logic Pro for Mac (v11.2): Free update for current users. New users can buy it for $199.99 via the Mac App Store. It's also part of the Pro Apps Bundle for Education.
Logic Pro for iPad (v2.2): Free update for existing users. New users can get it on the App Store for $4.99 per month or $49 per year, with a one-month free trial.
Requirements:
Logic Pro for Mac requires macOS Sequoia 15.4 or later
Logic Pro for iPad needs iPadOS 18.4 or later

iPhone 17e is almost in the trial production stage, tipster says. Here's what we expect

Apple earlier this year launched the iPhone 16e, which serves as the company's affordable iPhone. It is not a particularly budget phone, coming in at ₹59,900 in India, but it still serves as the cheapest iPhone Apple currently has in its line-up. Having said that, Apple was also rumoured to be working on the iPhone 17e. It will, of course, be the successor to the iPhone 16e. Recent reports suggest that Apple may be close to finalising the production. Here is what we know so far regarding the iPhone 17e. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17e sometime in the first half of 2026, according to reports. This information comes via tipster Instant Digital on Weibo. The tipster says that the iPhone 17e is almost ready for the trial production stage and that the setup of the iPhone 17e production line is being planned, too. Regarding changes to expect with the iPhone 17e, considering the 'e' line-up is Apple's affordable iPhone range, it makes sense for Apple to launch the iPhone 17e devoid of any flagship features which might cannibalise the mainline iPhones, such as the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro. We would like Apple to include features like Dynamic Island; if Dynamic Island were present on the 'e' models, it would make for a much more premium experience considering the price at which it retails. So, Dynamic Island is a feature Apple could certainly include. Apart from this, Apple could bring spec refreshes to the iPhone 17e, as has been the tradition. Therefore, it would not be out of the ordinary to expect the iPhone 17e to ship with an Apple A19 chipset. It also remains to be seen if Apple will go with its own in-house modem for the iPhone 17e, because the iPhone 16e reportedly debuted the Apple C1 modem, which is its own in-house 5G modem. Looking beyond the iPhone 17e, it remains to be seen what the launch schedule will be like. The iPhone line-up could be undergoing a major overhaul, with Apple expected to launch the iPhone 18e and iPhone 18 in Spring 2027, compared to a Fall 2026 launch for the mainline iPhone 18 devices. WWDC 2025: Apple could present major software updates with less focus on AI

Although platform updates are expected to headline the event, Apple Intelligence is still likely to see meaningful enhancements with third-party partnerships and deeper integration with apps New Delhi Apple is set to host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starting June 9, 2025. At the event keynote, the US-based technology giant has confirmed to unveil platform updates across its ecosystem, including the next version of iOS. While artificial intelligence-powered features are expected to be a part of the announcements, it may not take centre stage this year. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, 'the conference may be a letdown from an AI standpoint.' His report suggests Apple is not planning any major new features for its Apple Intelligence suite and will instead focus on significant updates to its operating systems across devices — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more. Bloomberg had previously reported that Apple is aiming for a broader platform overhaul, emphasising consistency and streamlined navigation across devices. The company may also revamp the naming convention for its operating systems. Although platform updates are expected to headline the event, Apple Intelligence is still likely to see meaningful enhancements. Apple may introduce a new software development kit (SDK) and related frameworks that allow developers to integrate Apple Intelligence tools, like Writing Tools, more deeply into their apps. Additionally, Apple is reportedly exploring partnerships with third-party AI providers like Google and Anthropic to bring their models to Apple Intelligence, similar to the current integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Gurman's report also notes that Apple may be treating 2025 as a 'gap year' for AI, with more substantial announcements expected at WWDC 2026. Ongoing AI projects reportedly include a next-gen Siri based on a large language model (LLM), bringing enhanced on-screen awareness, personal context, and natural conversation capabilities. WWDC 2025: What to expect Platform updates Apple is reportedly preparing a significant redesign of its operating systems aimed at creating a more unified user experience across devices. This would help users transition more seamlessly between platforms such as iOS and macOS. Aesthetic updates could include translucent menus and panels inspired by visionOS, subtle motion effects, and shimmering elements that respond to device movement. Apple may also change the naming convention for its OS versions. For example, the next version of iOS might be called iOS 26 instead of iOS 19. Gaming app Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new app focused on video games across its ecosystem including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. According to Bloomberg, this app will allow users to launch games, view achievements, check leaderboards, and access curated gaming content. It will also integrate App Store titles, much like Microsoft's Xbox app on iOS. Apple is expected to introduce features that simplify switching from an iPhone to an Android device. One such feature, recently spotted in Android 16 beta code, is wireless eSIM transfer from iOS to Android. Currently, moving an eSIM requires carrier intervention. These updates are likely part of Apple's compliance with the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA), which mandates greater ecosystem openness. AI-powered battery optimisation Apple is reportedly developing an AI-based battery management feature for iOS. The system would analyse app usage, background activity, and charging patterns to intelligently adjust performance and extend battery life. A new lock screen indicator is expected to show estimated charging time. Revamped Health app The Health app is also in line for a major upgrade. According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to introduce an AI-powered health coaching system that provides personalised wellness recommendations, expert-led videos, and enhanced fitness tracking. For the first time, the Health app is also expected to include food tracking. However, the full rollout of this revamped experience may happen gradually, with iOS 19.4 likely delivering most of the new features.

Samsung's big bet: Perplexity AI could soon be everywhere on its devices

Samsung Electronics is close to finalising a significant partnership with Perplexity AI Inc, an artificial intelligence (AI) search technology startup, Bloomberg reported. The South Korean tech giant is negotiating to preload Perplexity's app and assistant onto its upcoming devices. Additionally, Samsung aims to integrate Perplexity's search features into its web browser. Talks have also covered incorporating the startup's technology into Samsung's Bixby virtual assistant, the report said. Samsung plans to unveil the Perplexity integrations as early as this year, with the goal of making it a default assistant option on the Galaxy S26, expected to launch in the first half of 2026. However, the specifics of the deal are still being finalised and may change, the sources noted. So far, the company has relied significantly on Google's Gemini to support a range of AI capabilities within its Galaxy AI suite. Significant investment in Perplexity In addition to the technology partnership, Samsung is expected to participate in Perplexity's upcoming funding round, potentially as one of its largest investors. Perplexity is currently in advanced discussions to raise $500 million at a valuation of $14 billion, the news report said. The collaboration could help Samsung lessen its reliance on Alphabet Inc's Google and position it to work with a broader range of AI developers — a strategy similar to Apple Inc.'s approach to its ecosystem. For Perplexity, this would represent its most substantial mobile partnership to date, following a recent deal with Motorola. The two companies began exploring a partnership earlier this year. In recent weeks, representatives from both sides met in South Korea and made significant progress toward finalising the agreement, the report said. In addition to embedding Perplexity's technology into Samsung's devices and Bixby, the companies have also discussed developing an AI-infused operating system and an app that can connect Perplexity's capabilities with other AI assistants. Apple's interest in Perplexity Meanwhile, Apple has also shown interest in collaborating with Perplexity. According to Bloomberg News, Apple has considered using Perplexity as an alternative to Google Search and as a replacement for ChatGPT within the Siri voice assistant. 'We've been pretty impressed with what Perplexity has done, so we've started some discussions with them about what they're doing,' Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice-president of services, said during recent testimony at a Google antitrust trial.
