Ambassador Han Jing Visits Chilenje House in Memory of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda
Embassy staff were impressed by the visit and saw it as a meaningful way to pay tribute to Dr. Kaunda on the occasion of the Kenneth Kaunda Day, as it refreshed memories on Zambia's independence history and the all-weather friendship forged by Chairman Mao and President Kaunda and other leaders of the older generation, which has withstood the test of time. It helped renew the commitment of all Embassy staff to sustaining the China-Zambia friendship in the new era and implementing the outcome of the FOCAC Beijing Summit to further advance the Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership between China and Zambia.
Chilenje House 394 is a museum house in which Dr. Kenneth Kaunda lived from January 1960 to December 1962 and directed the fight for independence of Zambia. The House has been redecorated in its original colour scheme, and much of the furniture and personal effects used by the Kenneth Kaunda family at that time has been replaced in the original positions.

RSDI, a UAE think tank focused on the ever-evolving landscapes of defence and security, is committed to enhancing regional understanding and fostering long-term collaboration. It produces nuanced analyses grounded in Middle Eastern perspectives, delivering actionable insights to policymakers and the international community. Explaining its strategies in an interview with Aletihad , Dr. Wan Zokhri Bin Wan Idris, Interim Manager of RSDI, said the institute positions itself as 'a neutral and trusted convenor.' 'RSDI can present findings and results in ways that acknowledge different narratives, without taking sides, especially in sensitive geopolitical matters,' Idris said. He stressed the importance of recognising diverse perspectives and encouraging open dialogue. This approach, he added, is supported by a knowledge base built on collaborative research and data-sharing platforms. Given the UAE's partnerships with both Western and Asian powers and its role in humanitarian and conflict mediation, the institute is well-positioned to serve as a bridge between regional stakeholders and the global community, Idris said. Central to this strategy is RSDI's collaboration with reputable institutions such as the Middle East Institute in Washington, he added. As part of its engagement efforts, RSDI recently hosted a high-level panel examining the possible impact of US President Donald Trump's return on US-China dynamics and regional security frameworks. Discussions pointed out that the renewed Trump presidency would open new avenues for US–East Asia cooperation, particularly in sectors like semiconductors and renewable energy. Building on its foundation of dialogue and collaboration, RSDI is expanding its impact through a series of pilot initiatives designed to deepen regional security cooperation. 'In 2025, we are set to launch the Annual Middle East Security (AMES) Conference, a collaboration with TRENDS Advisory and Research. Then in 2026, we plan to launch the Middle East Defence Outlook Conference (MEDOC) as an avenue for researchers, policymakers, decision-makers to convene and discuss defence modernisation in the region.'

Tunisia–China: Untapped opportunities in trade and tourism
Tunis – 'Beijing and Tunis can further develop their relations, particularly in the areas of trade and tourism, in light of the cooperation between China and the Arab world, whose prospects appear broader,' former Chinese diplomat Wu Sisco said on Wednesday in Beijing. In a statement to a TAP journalist attending a training programme in Beijing for Arab journalists, Sisco added that the relationship between Tunisia and China is based on 'mutual understanding regarding many international and regional issues.' 'We have great opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the tourism sector, especially since Tunisia is a beautiful country, and the Chinese are well aware of that and relations between the two countries have been excellent for a long time,' he further stated. Speaking at a conference titled 'The Sino–Tunisian Cooperation Forum Deepens the Foundations of Comprehensive Strategic Relations between China and the Arab World in the New Era', the former Chinese diplomat noted that the Arab world is facing 'tremendous pressures' that have pushed it to seek friendly countries and expand its diplomatic network at a time when China is entering a new phase of development. He also pointed out that 'the Arab world represents a large share of developing countries and maintains close, traditional, and mutually beneficial relations with China. This reality led to the creation of the Arab–Chinese Forum, which will be held in China in 2026.' According to him, the establishment of Sino–Arab relations reflects a shared desire to open new horizons and build a better, independent world. The diplomat also stressed the importance of youth in this strategic relationship between China and the Arab world and the need to develop their capacities by strengthening cooperation and exchange visits, as well as promoting innovation in order to make the Arab–Chinese Cooperation Forum a success. Among the possible areas of Sino–Arab cooperation, he mentioned satellites, which 'will open a new path in space exploration,' and artificial intelligence along with its related architecture. China's GDP for 2024 is estimated at $18.9 trillion, ranking second in the world with a growth rate of about 5%, representing roughly 16.9% of the size of the global GDP. Trade between Tunisia and China in 2024 amounted to about 9.2 billion Tunisian dinars, posting a 8% increase compared to 2023. There are still untapped export opportunities to the Chinese market worth more than US$214 million.
