Newcastle Highlanders third team draw in Findlay Cup clash
In the closely contested game, Drakensberg scored first in the 15th minute.
Highlanders scored soon after, leading 7 – 5. At half time, Drakensberg was back in the lead 12 – 7.
The lead changed a few times in the game with Highlanders scoring the levelling try in the 78th minute. The conversion was missed at close range, leaving the score at 26 all.
For Highlanders, Banda (10) looks like a bright prospect for the club, while Siya Mazibuko (8) played well.
Andrew Lesego (2) had some good runs with ball in hand.
Points – tries: Banda (10) – 1, Thabang (11) – 1, Siya (8) – 1, Nipho (23) – 1, Justin (15) – 3 conversions.
Highlanders will play a Department of Sports and Culture (DSAC) Tournament at the end of August at the Arbor Park rugby field.

Orlando Pirates have now released 14 players. Orlando Pirates have released 1 4 players so far. Goodman Mosele and Abdoulaye Mariko have been loaned to PSL rivals, Chippa United. Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng sends priceless gift to Lorch
Orlando Pirates superstar Relebohile Mofokeng has sent a special gift to former Bucs star Thembinkosi Lorch. Mofokeng has quickly established himself as a household name in South African football since making his debut in 2023.
