Bristol in Pictures: Painting the town red
Bristol City secured their place in the play-offs and a shot at the Premier League, and the Bristol Folk Festival began.
Rovers and City legends took each other on for charity at the Mem, and morris dancers welcomed in the start of May.
There was also a sneak preview of the next Gromit Unleashed trail, an award win for a cutting-edge Bristol company, and a special procession through the city on Saturday morning.
Sneak preview: With two months to go until the next Gromit Unleashed sculpture trail returns to the city, organisers the Grand Appeal and Aardman have released pictures of how the artists, including Paula Bowles (above), are getting on with their unique creations.
All smiles: The Bristol Folk Festival began on Friday at St Georges, with Talisk (above) among the performers. The event continues on Sunday with performances beginning at 13:00 BST at both the Folk House and St Georges.
Painting the town green: You may have seen Bristol's Jack in the Green heading from the Harbourside up to Horfield on Saturday. The event welcomes the summer each year, keeping alive a tradition that would have been commonplace across England a couple of centuries ago.
Legends return: Past heroes from Bristol Rovers and Bristol were pitted against each other on a warm evening at the Mem this week in aid of charity Talk Club, which helps men with their mental health. Rovers took the win on a night organised by the Bristol Rovers Community Trust, Bristol City Robins Foundation and Talk Club itself.
May day: Morris dancers welcomed in May as dawn crept across Bristol on Thursday, keeping their traditions alive.
Revving up: Fowlers Motorcycles held the first of this summer's bike nights on Friday, bringing together enthusiasts of all things on two wheels. The events will continue on the first Friday of each month.
Packed out: More than 700 people visited the popular St Werburgh's City Farm as it held its Spring Fair last weekend.
Come on down: Whitehall Rugby Club hosted an all-women day at the weekend to help it develop more all-female sides at its base in the east of the city.
Winners: Dynisma, based just outside Bristol, won Technology Company of the Year at the 2025 British Business Awards. Founded by former Formula One engineer, Ash Warne, Dynisma makes high-performance driving simulators for motorsport teams.
Painting the town red: Year Six pupils Headley Park Primary School showed their support for Bristol City when players Zak Vyner, Joe Williams and Elijah Morrison dropped in as part of a Robins Foundation event this week.
Cutting edge: The dBs Institute of Sound & Digital Technologies held a new showcase at the Loco Club at Temple Meads on Thursday, featuring cutting-edge sound art created by third year students at its Bristol campus.
Brains of Bristol: Staff from 11 Bristol hotels took part in a quiz organised by the Bristol Hoteliers Association (BHA), raising £1,250 for the Brain Tumour Support Charity.

Photo byViktor Gyökeres was handed his Arsenal debut at Old Trafford, but the Swedish striker endured a difficult afternoon in a game where his side were second best for long spells. His impact on the contest was limited. Gyökeres managed just 22 touches in an hour on the pitch, completed four passes and failed to register a shot for the first time since his Coventry days. He was replaced by Kai Havertz after 60 minutes, having struggled to establish any meaningful threat against Matthijs de Ligt and Victor Lindelöf. Much of the issue stemmed from Arsenal's inability to control midfield. Sloppy passing and wasteful transitions meant the ball rarely reached Gyökeres in central areas. He was often left isolated, forced into wide channels or dropping deep trying to get involved, which blunted his presence in the penalty box. When he did engage defenders, his physical strength was clear. On several occasions he unsettled De Ligt, holding him off or forcing the Dutchman to retreat. Photo byYet, without quality balls from midfield, those moments led to little end product. Arsenal's build-up play bypassed him too often, leaving their record signing chasing long passes rather than linking with Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli. The numbers underline the problem. With no shots attempted, limited touches in attacking areas and a pass completion of just 44 per cent, Gyökeres had little opportunity to demonstrate his finishing or movement inside the box. He touched the ball in the United box just three times. His substitution on the hour reflected both the pattern of the match and Arsenal's tactical shift as they defended a narrow lead, although I would have liked to have seen him given time on the pitch alongside Noni Madueke, who replaced Gabriel Martinelli at the same time Gyokeres was taken off. In short, Gyökeres's debut was tough. He worked hard, competed physically and tried to impose himself against United's centre-backs, but Arsenal's lack of midfield control and poor service left him largely anonymous in front of goal. On another day, with more composure in possession and better delivery, his qualities will become clearer.

Bukayo Saka admits Arsenal were below par in win at Man Utd
Bukayo Saka admitted Arsenal were a long way from their best after they snatched a 1-0 win away to Manchester United in their Premier League opener on Sunday. Riccardo Calafiori got the only goal in the 13th minute when he pounced on an error from United's stand-in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. But Arsenal were otherwise second best at Old Trafford, sloppy in possession against a United side who impressed with their energy and purpose, even if they ultimately could not find an end product. If the Gunners are to take a step forward this season, after three consecutive second-placed finishes in the Premier League, they cannot afford too many more displays like this one. 'It was not a great performance,' Saka said. 'We are happy with the three points, to come away from Old Trafford with a win. 'We were not up to our usual standards, the basics, sloppy giveaways. Our decision making was not great and that cost us and gave United a lot of momentum. We did not get punished for it but we cannot do it every game.' A huge amount of the focus coming into the match was on Arsenal's new £55million striker Viktor Gyokeres as he came up against his former boss Ruben Amorim. It proved a difficult afternoon for the Sweden star, who struggled to hold up the ball and did not get a sight of goal before being replaced just after the hour. 'I was impressed with him and he battled for us,' Saka said of his new team-mate. 'It was tough. There was a big battle up there. 'I thought he did well. His performance gives us something to build on and I am sure it will help him next week. He has slotted in well and so have the other guys.'

Antoine Semenyo: Man suspected of racially abusing Premier League star is released on bail
A man has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Bournemouth player Antoine Semenyo. The 47-year-old from Liverpool, who hasn't been named, was ordered not to go within a mile of any football stadium - and to avoid matches. Semenyo and the game was temporarily paused while the referee spoke to the teams' managers. An anti-discrimination message was broadcast, and it is understood police went into the ref's room at half-time. Semenyo scored twice in the second half to help bring Bournemouth back from two goals down, before Liverpool went on to eventually win the contest 4-2. The player said the messages of support he received were "overwhelming" and a reminder of why he loves the sport. Read more from Sky News: On Saturday, Semenyo wrote: "Last night at Anfield will stay with me forever - not because of one person's words, but because of how the entire football family stood together." The Premier League said its "on-field anti-discrimination protocol" had been followed and the incident "will now be fully investigated". The incident came two days after Tottenham Hotspur player Mathys Tel faced racist abuse online following a missed penalty in his team's UEFA Super Cup loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Merseyside Police said on Monday that its investigation was ongoing, and the force is continuing to liaise with Liverpool FC.
