Galatasaray have recently accelerated their quest to sign the 31-year-old playmaker.
Therefore, the Serie A runners-up are frantically searching for replacements.
Nicolo Rovella has quickly emerged as a perfect candidate, but taking him away from Stadio Olimpico could prove rather complicated.
As such, Beppe Marotta must reach out for his bag of tricks again.

With Lazio insisting on Rovella's €50 million release clause, Marotta has to be creative.
Indeed, Inter cannot afford such a hefty figure amid an ongoing effort to sign Ange-Yoan Bonny and Rasmus Hojlund.

Therefore, a swap deal could be a solution, with Davide Frattesi likely to fall victim to Inter's pursuit of Calhanoglu's heir.
Rovella has been outstanding in Rome, and the Biancocelesti are understandably against his sale.
Furthermore, there's a reasonable skepticism over the club's ability to find a suitable replacement for the 23-year-old.
However, this way, Lazio would get a proven midfielder in return.

What is behind Musah tension for Milan and Napoli

What is behind Musah tension for Milan and Napoli There is still no real progress in the impasse between Milan and Napoli over the sale of Yunus Musah, but the clubs are working on resolving the issue of add-ons. It had seemed last week like practically a done deal, waiting only for the final details to be worked out. It is possible it can be resolved by working on the add-ons, which could allow Napoli to pay the lower fixed fee, with performance-related bonuses on top. Some can be harder to achieve than others, giving the clubs some leeway on negotiations, but this is going to take time.

Tijjani Reijnders draws inspiration from Ilkay Gündogan in search for more goals

Reijnders has been signed by Pep Guardiola to be a dynamic box‑to‑box midfielder and the 26-year-old Dutchman is clear regarding who he will look to at City. 'Gündogan is someone I can learn a lot from,' he said. 'It's nice to see him nearby and the way he does it.' It's very important to score goals as a midfielder and it's what I'm looking for; that and assists.' Reijnders scored 10 times in 37 Serie A appearances in the past season, a sizeable increase on three in 36 in the previous campaign. In all competitions he scored 15 times in 2024‑25, compared with four in 2023-24. 'The first season at Milan I wasn't calm in my head when I had opportunities and it was something I was thinking about in the summer after,' he said. Advertisement 'I watched clips of myself when I got into those situations and tried to adapt to those kinds of things in the second season, to be calmer in front of goal. The No 8 position is why they [City] got me. Now I have to fill the No 8 and do my best to show that I should play.' City begin their Club World Cup campaign against the Moroccan side Wydad at Philadelphia's Lincoln Field on Wednesday, before taking on Al Ain, of the United Arab Emirates, and Juventus in their other Group G games. Reijnders said: 'We take it very seriously. We want to win every tournament we play. This is nothing different. 'It's going to be hard, there are a lot of good teams and the weather is very hot. We're getting used to it and we'll be ready for Wednesday.' Advertisement With Rayan Aït-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki also signing this summer, and Kevin De Bruyne departing, Reijnders was asked whether there is a sense of a fresh start at City. 'De Bruyne left but the base is still there,' he said. 'You see what the standards are in training and outside the pitch. The boys are helping me with it all and it gives me a good feeling. 'You can always have a season like they did last season [winning nothing], after all those years – after they won four [Premier League titles] in a row, for example – and it's up to us now to change that now and win prizes.'

Tijjani Reijnders says he's not at Manchester City to replace Kevin De Bruyne

Tijjani Reijnders does not see himself as a Kevin De Bruyne replacement but after years of studying the Belgian he hopes his goals can fire Manchester City back to winning trophies, starting with the Club World Cup. The Dutch midfielder joined from Milan this week in a deal worth €55million (£46.8m) as part of a midfield makeover following the departure of the club captain De Bruyne. Advertisement 'I am not here to replace him but I watched a lot of clips of him and how he plays the game,' said Reijnders at City's training base in Miami. 'I try to adapt that to my game but in my own way. A lot of times I watched Kevin but another player I can learn a lot of things from is Gundogan. It is nice to see him up close and see how he does it.' Robin van Persie and Dennis Bergkamp, an idol of his father who was also a professional player, were two of the other players he spent a lot of time analysing. Reijnders put it to good use last season as he scored 15 goals and registered five assists in all competitions as Milan won the Supercoppa Italiana. 'I already did with Milan last season being on the scoresheet. It is very important to score goals and give assists as a midfielder. 'The first season I came to Milan I wasn't calm in my head when I had opportunities. It was something I was thinking about that summer and watching clips back of myself. I tried to adapt last season and be more calm in front of goal.' He signed a new five-year contract with Milan earlier in the year but City identified him as their primary target. 'It was getting near to the end of the season when my father called me to say City were interested in me as the number eight,' Reijnders added. 'It was almost a no-brainer when City came and for me it was an easy choice in the end. It is important for me to play European football and playing for City is like a dream. 'I am really looking forward to it. Of course, you hear it from a lot of colleagues in the national team about how the Premier League is and I want to experience it.' City suffered their worst season under Guardiola last year, finishing in fourth on 71 points. For the team to drop off so dramatically was a surprise to many, including Reijnders. Advertisement 'Yes, but you can always have a season like this after all those seasons winning, four in a row for example,' he said. 'It is possible but it is up to us now to change that this season and win prizes. Kevin left but the base is still there and you see the standards that are here in training and outside the pitch. 'The boys are helping me very much with that and it gives me a good feeling.' ()
