OPPO Find X9 series tipped to feature flat displays and Dimensity 9500 chip

India Today09-06-2025
The OPPO Find X9 series is expected to debut in China this fall — probably in October, if the company follows the Find X8 launch timeline from last year. However, that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from churning out interesting details about the next-generation devices, especially one related to the phone's front profile. According to popular tipster Digital Chat Station, two of the upcoming phones in the series will feature flat displays with screen sizes of 6.59 inches and 6.78 inches, respectively. These devices are tipped to be the standard X9 and X9 Pro. For context, with the Find X8 series, only the standard X8 came with a flat display, while the X8 Pro was one of the first phones to feature the quad-curved display phenomenon.advertisementAnother interesting titbit from the leak is the suggestion that OPPO could be solely relying on flat panels across the entire Find X9 lineup. So, even the X9 Ultra model, which is expected to succeed the X8 Ultra, could come with a flat panel — just like the standard and Pro variants. On top of this, there's a rumour of a compact 6.3-inch device as well. This could possibly be called the OPPO Find X9s, as the company already offers a 6.3-inch compact phone in the Find X8 series, namely, the OPPO Find X8s. Of course, we'll get to know more about these phones in the coming months.Apart from the design rumours, as you must have figured out, the Find X9 series is expected to include four devices — the 6.3-inch model, the X9 with a 6.59-inch display, the X9 Pro with a 6.78-inch display, and the X9 Ultra, likely with a 6.82-inch display, succeeding the X8 Ultra. The phones are set to receive a substantial hardware upgrade as well. Rumours suggest the Find X9 series could be powered by the next-generation MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip — said to be built on TSMC's 3nm advanced N3P process. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as three phones in the Find X8 series — X8, X8 Pro and X8s — are powered by the Dimensity 9400 series chipsets. However, it will be interesting to see whether the Ultra model also comes with the Dimensity 9500 chip or uses the second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.advertisement
When it comes to the launch timeline, this is where things get interesting. You see, with the Find X8 series, we witnessed a scattered launch. While the X8 and X8 Pro were initially launched in China last October and later released worldwide (including India) in November, the X8 Ultra and the X8s (alongside the X8 Plus) were unveiled in April — just a couple of months ago. On top of this, OPPO isn't even selling the Find X8 Ultra and Find X8s in India. With that said, while the entire Find X9 series looks quite promising, it will be interesting to see whether OPPO decides to launch all the phones together or go for a scattered release like the X8 series. Also, which of the phones make their way to India remains to be seen.Stay tuned to India Today Tech for all the latest on the OPPO Find X9 series.

Oppo Pad SE review: A power-packed entertainer at Rs 13,999

Long gone are the days when laptops were a prerequisite to use docs or watch a movie. While smartphones are pretty competent to pull off these tasks, the screen is still compact and not that fun. So, enter a device that is bigger than a phone but smaller and lighter than a laptop – a tablet. I understand that the audience for tablets is niche, but the Oppo Pad SE is so attractive and affordable that it has the potential to add more users to this Rs 13,999, the Oppo Pad SE features an 11-inch display with 500 nits of brightness and a 90Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. The tablet packs a 9,340mAh battery and supports 33W charging. While everything sounds great on paper, is it perfect when used in real-life scenarios as well? Let's find out in the review of the Oppo Pad SE by India Today Tech. Oppo Pad SE review: The good looksThe Oppo Pad SE is an entry-level tablet, but the design and build screams premium. The tablet features a minimalist design, resembling its sister company, OnePlus's tablet range. The back panel comes with a circular camera island on the top with its branding on the centre. To step away from the boredom of monotones, the Oppo Pad SE features a dual colour tone on the rear panel. It is available in two colours, Starlight Silver and Twilight Blue, and comes in three different configurations. The Oppo Pad SE is thin, light and easy to carry around. The Oppo Pad SE truly stands out with its impressive and stylish design. Moreover, it boasts a sleek, premium appearance and feels great to hold. Its rounded edges enhance comfort during extended use, though they also make it a bit slippery, so there's a risk of it slipping from your hands if you're not careful. Therefore, it's advisable to get a protective case right away, but keep in mind, you'll need to purchase it separately, as Oppo doesn't include one in the power button and two speakers are located on the top edge, while the volume controls can be found on the right side. The bottom edge features another pair of speakers along with a Type-C charging Pad SE review: Big, bright and beautiful displayI've been using the Oppo Pad SE for a week now, primarily as my go-to entertainment device. I ended up watching the entire Special Ops 2.0 on Hotstar and Mandala Murders on Netflix. Although I am not a big fan of binge-watching, the tablet's large, bright display made it easy to spend extended hours on OTT platforms. The Oppo Pad SE features a large 11-inch FHD+ (1920x1200) LCD screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It supports a 90Hz refresh rate and can go up to 500 nits in brightness. The Oppo Pad SE 3's display and size complement each other, even when you are reading on it. The display is vibrant, crisp, and overall very enjoyable. I really appreciate its generous size, making it one of the better choices out there for streaming shows and movies. While the tablet does have thick, uniform bezels around the screen, they're not distracting and don't take away from the viewing experience. Additionally, Oppo is also touting the Pad SE as the first tablet in this price range to feature an anti-reflective matte coating. The uniform (but thick) bezels enhance the viewing experience. I also used it to catch up on a few e-books, and the large screen made for an excellent reading experience. The 90Hz refresh rate adds to the smoothness, allowing for effortless scrolling, whether you're reading articles or browsing through Pad SE review: Performance and audioThe Oppo Pad SE is powered by MediaTek's Helio G100 chipset, which is built on a 6nm process. It's paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The software side is handled by Oppo's ColorOS 15.0.1 atop Android Oppo Pad SE delivered a fairly smooth experience in everyday use, handling tasks like OTT streaming, web browsing, and arcade-style gaming with ease. I didn't encounter any noticeable lags during my time with it. Apps launched quickly, and internet browsing felt fluid. Oppo also offers a clean and responsive interface, which held true in my test its capabilities further, I ran a few benchmark tests. While the scores aren't particularly impressive on paper, in real-world use, I didn't face any major issues worth audio performance is another strong point. With its large quad-speaker setup and Omni-bearing Sound Field technology, the sound quality was genuinely impressive. Whether I was playing music or watching a show, the audio easily filled the room, delivering a clear, loud output with a decent amount of bass. Overall, the sound is rich and satisfying, leaving little to criticise. The Oppo Pad SE features 4 set of speakers. Two on the top edge with power button and the other two with charging port. advertisementOppo Pad SE review: Battery and CameraAdding to its list of strengths, the Oppo Pad SE truly shines when it comes to battery life. It packs a massive 9,340mAh battery. At this price point, Oppo has truly over-achieved with the battery aspect. The Oppo Pad SE supports a Type-C charger. I binge-watched several shows on the tablet and the battery backed up my plan to do so. During this time, I browsed social media, read a couple of e-books and worked on docs. But mostly, I spent my time binge-watching, and even after 5–6 hours, the tablet stayed put for a little over 2 days. The Oppo Pad SE supports 33W wired charging. However, the downside is that there's no charging brick included in the box. advertisementComing to the camera, the Oppo Pad SE features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, both capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps. While the setup is fairly basic, it's perfectly adequate for video calls and the occasional document scan. Oppo Pad SE front camera However, as it is often pointed out, you're usually better off taking photos with your smartphone, Android tablets generally don't impress when it comes to camera performance. The Oppo Pad SE is no Pad SE review: Is it worth it?At a starting price of Rs 13,999, the Oppo Pad SE is definitely worth it. It features a big 11-inch display, a massive 9,340mAh battery, and the MediaTek's Helio G100 chipset. Whether you want to binge-watch, read, or browse social media apps, the Pad SE delivers smooth performance and for longer hours, thanks to the massive things considered, the Oppo Pad SE is a solid option if you're looking for a tablet that looks good, performs reliably for everyday tasks, and doesn't break the bank.- Ends
