American giant Nike appoints Michael Gonda as new executive VP & CCO
NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) announced that Michael Gonda will become Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer of NIKE, Inc., effective July 7, 2025. In this role, Gonda will lead the global communications organization, overseeing all facets of the communications strategy, including storytelling, corporate and brand reputation, issues management, and employee engagement. As a member of the company's Senior Leadership Team, Gonda will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Elliott Hill.

Nike, Inc has named Michael Gonda as EVP and chief communications officer, effective July 7, 2025. Gonda joins Nike from McDonald's Corporation, where he held several senior leadership roles, including Chief Impact Officer for North America—overseeing communications, public affairs, sustainability, community engagement and philanthropy for the company's largest markets—and as Global Chief Communications Officer. During his tenure, he served on several leadership bodies, including the Global Senior Leadership Team.

In a landmark move to strengthen AI education and innovation in India, OpenAI has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian government's IndiaAI Mission to launch the OpenAI Academy—marking its first international rollout. 'This has been addressed by providing around 34,000 GPUs at affordable rates—less than a dollar per GPU hour—significantly lower than global prices,' he said. In addition to computational resources, Singh also spotlighted the AI Kosh platform, which offers a rich repository of datasets across sectors, along with essential tools, AI models, and a sandbox environment to encourage innovation. Through a virtual message, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the initiative as a milestone for the country. 'This partnership is a significant step towards advancing our shared goal of democratizing access to knowledge and technology,' he said. This launch follows Kwon's global tour to engage with international policymakers on responsible AI deployment and governance. The academy initiative in India is aligned with OpenAI's broader commitment to make AI education globally accessible and responsible. In a move reflecting its growing investment in the Indian market, OpenAI last month introduced local data residency for Indian users. This ensures that data from ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and the OpenAI API platform will now be stored within the country, addressing key regulatory and privacy concerns. Further expanding its impact, OpenAI also announced the extension of its AI for Impact Accelerator Program to India. As part of this phase, 11 nonprofit organizations in the country have been selected to receive API credits and technical grants totaling $150,000. Well, you don't have to anymore, as another English actor, Matthew Goode, brings the same abrasive, difficult personality to DCI Carl Mork in Netflix's 'Dept. Q'.In Netflix's latest thriller series, 'Department Q' (stylised as 'Dept. Q'), Goode delivers a masterful performance, playing the Detective Chief Inspector as an uncompromising figure who makes no attempt to be likeable. He's angry, bitter, traumatised and emotionally closed performance is just one of the many things working in favour of this crime thriller. With 'Dept. Q', Netflix delivers a thoughtful, character-driven police procedural drama that respects both the audience's time and intelligence. Based on Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen's acclaimed book series and brought to life by Scott Frank (the mastermind behind 'The Queen's Gambit'), this nine-episode Scottish crime drama proves that sometimes the best stories unfold it is slow. With nine episodes, each around 50 minutes long, the audience needs to be patient with the series opens with a brutal ambush that sets the tone for everything that follows. DCI Carl Morck and his partner DI James Hardy (played by Jamie Sives) walk into what appears to be a routine call, only to find themselves targeted by a masked gunman. But that's the ruse; it's actually the show's greatest strength. The slow, methodical approach is a simile of genuine police work. Unlike many crime dramas that rely on convenient breakthroughs, 'Dept. Q' commits to showing the actual work of an investigation: file reading, interviews, following up on leads - slowly connecting the audience knows from early on that Merritt is alive, trapped in a hyperbaric chamber by captors who won't release her until she figures out why she was taken. This parallel narrative adds psychological tension while avoiding cheap mystery tricks. And it keeps the storytelling subtly non-linear as well: the audience, like Merritt, can't understand the passage of time throughout her forced elevates 'Dept. Q' is also its commitment to authentic character development. Apart from Goode's masterful performance as the tetchy Carl Morck - there is no hidden teddy bear beneath his crusty exterior, and that honesty makes him compelling rather than frustrating - there are others who deliver their own stellar is Morck's growing partnership with Akram Salim (played by Alexej Manvelov), a Syrian refugee and former police officer now working in IT but wants something more to do. The writing is sharp and engaging, balancing dark themes with moments of genuine humour and series tackles issues of mental health among emergency responders like the police, and organisational politics, without becoming preachy.
