This Bollywood villain warned son not to tell people they were related, refused to help him become an actor: ‘He was insecure that…'
Born Hamid Ali Khan, actor Ajit is one of the most well-known villains from the golden period of Bollywood. Appearing in films like Kalicharan (1976), Zanjeer (1973), and Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973), he was famously the 'Lion' who was the bad guy in many films of the era. Soon it was his son Shehzad Khan's turn to walk in the footsteps of his father, who even mimicked his father's unique cadence in a couple of roles. But according to Shehzad, his father was not very supportive of his decision to become an actor and refused to help him in any way.
One can only imagine the sway an actor like Ajit must have in the industry, yet he was determined that his son would have to make it on his own. While talking to Lehren Retro, Shehzad talked about his father's decision and said, 'I never got any support from my father regarding my acting career. When I told him that I want to be an actor, he told me that he is never going to make a film in order to launch me. He also told me that he was never going to refer me to any producer or director and would prefer if I kept my relationship with him under wraps.'

He added, 'I think my father was a little insecure about me becoming an actor. He must have been afraid that if I don't perform to the standards set by him, it might ruin his name in the industry.' Shehzad said that he respected his father's wishes and would keep his relation with him a secret, unless someone guessed it from his name and address. He ultimately broke through the barrier and worked in films like Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Qayamat se Qayamat tak (1988) and Bharat (2019).
The actor also talked about the boom of the southern films and shared his two cents about why Bollywood wasn't working as well as them. He said, 'It's all because of this corporate culture. It has seeped deep into the industry, and people are only concerned with the economics of a project rather than the story. A director in Bollywood has to answer to 100 people before making a decision, people who have never gone to a film school or assisted someone on the set. It's sad, but it is the truth.'
He appreciated filmmakers and producers from the south and credited their recent success to the amount of freedom they have while working on a project. 'Directors from the south are free to do whatever they want. The corporate thinking has not cemented itself in the filmmaking process over there, and though we are all part of the same country, they are doing much better than us.'

Amitabh Bachchan shares unseen wedding photos with Jaya Bachchan to mark their 52nd anniversary. See here
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan celebrated their 52nd anniversary on June 3, and to mark the occasion, the veteran actor shared old photos from their wedding on X (formerly Twitter). He also penned an emotional note, thanking his fans for their well wishes. In the photos shared by Big B, he is seen wearing a simple white kurta-pyjama, while Jaya wore a red saree. The pictures show the couple performing rituals and also speaking to each other during their wedding. Sharing the clicks, Amitabh wrote, 'To all that wish Jaya and me for the Wedding Anniversary June 3, 2025, my gratitude and love.' He also added a quote by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, 'Anwarat samay ki chakki chalti jaati hai (the wheel of time keeps turning endlessly).' Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan worked together in many films such as Zanjeer, Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Mili and more. They first met on the sets of Guddi. Speaking about meeting Amitabh for the first time, Jaya had said in an old interview, 'I was introduced to him on the sets of Guddi. I was impressed by him and somewhat in awe as he was Harivanshrai Bachchan's son. I fell in love with him very soon.' The couple fell in love on the sets of Ek Nazar (1972) and went on to date before tying the knot in 1973. Jaya's father, journalist Taroon Coomar Bhaduri, wrote in an article for the Illustrated Weekly of India in 1989 about how the priest protested against the star couple's inter-caste marriage. He wrote about the couple's wedding day and how Amitabh Bachchan followed all rituals without offending anyone. He wrote, 'A Bengali marriage is usually a long-drawn-out but a highly interesting affair. The Bengali priest (who was located with great difficulty) at first protested against having to preside over a marriage between a Bengali Brahmin (Jaya) and a non-Bengali non-Brahmin (Amit). After a lot of hassles, this was sorted out. Amit went through all the rituals, offending no one, and the ceremony went on until early the next morning. He did with sincerity all he was told to do. The following day, they flew to London. On their return, I held a reception at Bhopal and again Amit did whatever he was told to do.'

Aamir Khan is among the most celebrated superstars of Indian Cinema, who has delivered legacy films across genres ranging from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, to Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar, Andaz Apna Apna, Sarfarosh, Dil Chahta Hai, Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini, 3 Idiots, PK and Dangal among others. The actor is presently gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20, and will then slip into the prep stage of the Rajkumar Hirani directed Dadasaheb Phalke biopic. And now, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that Aamir Khan was creatively involved in at-least 10 scripts, before he decided on Rajkumar Hirani's next. A source shares, ' Aamir Khan, and Rajkumar Hirani have together dreamt of making a film on the Father of Indian Cinema – Dadasaheb Phalke, and the script work was going on for the longest time. While Raju was working on Dadasaheb Phalke, Aamir was simultaneously creatively involved to develop multiple scripts – ranging from two Rajkumar Santoshi films: Char Din Ki Zindagi and Andaz Apna Apna 2, to Ujjwal Nikam biopic with Dinesh Vijan, the Anurag Basu directed Kishore Kumar, and a film with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra among others.' The source further informs that Aamir also sat down to discuss the Gulshan Kumar biopic with director Tushar Hiranandani and Bhushan Kumar. 'Aamir is a creative person, and loves to work on content that has potential. He did ample of meetings, and is committed to deliver content that hits the bullseye. Every film that he discussed could happen in the near future, though at the moment, he is all committed to play Dadasaheb Phalke,' the source added. Apart from the above-mentioned films, Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijit Joshi also jammed on an exciting plot for PK 2, which could also mark the entry of Ranbir Kapoor to the franchise. 'There's a definite idea for PK 2, which Hirani, Abhijat and Aamir are excited about and they will revisit it after the Dadasaheb Phalke. It's a plot that organically leads itself to a sequel, with Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, but the boat is far away from sailing. Ranbir too is aware of the idea and is excited to play an alien,' the source concludes. Aamir is also in advanced talks for a feature film with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a superhero film, which at the moment is scheduled to go on floors in 2027. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
