Employees of child learning center in Lynchburg charged in assault investigation

Lynchburg, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) says multiple arrests have been made in connection to a child assault investigation at Elizabeth's Early Learning Center.
LPD said an investigation was opened into the Elizabeth's Early Learning Center after an assault complaint involving an employee was received from Child Protective Services (CPS) on November 13, 2024.
During the investigation, evidence was examined, including several video recordings and other alleged findings. CPS presented the evidence to the Lynchburg Police on December 13, 2024, resulting in an arrest warrant being issued for 24-year-old Georgia Brown of Lynchburg.

On January 9, 2025, Georgia Brown was arrested and charged with the following:
Three counts of Simple Assault, Assault and Battery (COV 18.2-57)
Two counts of Child Endangerment: Cruelty or Injuries to Children (COV 40.1-103)
On Tuesday, February 25, Brown received three additional charges of Assault & Battery (COV 18.2-57).
As the investigation continued, LPD allegedly discovered further evidence revealing that other members of the staff and board of Elizabeth's Early Learning Center may have been aware of the alleged assaults occurring and failed to report them law enforcement.

Kimberly Gregory – Board Member
Failing to notify as a mandated reporter COV 63.2-1509
