Aboutrika: ‘FIFA Complicit if Israel Plays On'
Speaking on Sunday during a television appearance analysing the Community Shield match between Crystal Palace and Liverpool, Aboutrika said: 'There are 760 Palestinian athletes martyred by Israel, including 420 footballers, while 140 football facilities have been destroyed.'
He criticised what he saw as double standards: 'FIFA and UEFA stopped Russia over its war on Ukraine. When will the Israeli occupation be stopped? We don't want just words, we want real action.'
The 2026 World Cup is scheduled from June 11 to July 19, co-hosted by 16 cities across Canada, Mexico and the United States — the latter staging the majority of matches, including the final at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium.
Aboutrika argued that the tournament should be taken away from the US, accusing Washington of direct complicity with Israel. 'Do not celebrate with the real estate broker (referring to former US president Donald Trump) on the podium at the Club World Cup final, with hands stained with Palestinian blood,' he said.
He added: 'France, Britain and Germany are starting to wash their hands of Israel's crimes. This is an occupation, and there is a resistance defending its land. If FIFA and UEFA are serious, they must ban Israeli teams; otherwise, they are complicit — as are we if we remain silent.'
According to Gaza health authorities, Israeli military action since October 7, 2023, has killed 61,430 Palestinians, injured more than 153,000 and displaced hundreds of thousands, amid widespread destruction and famine.

Norway Reviews $2 Trillion Fund's Israeli Investments Linked to Gaza Genocide
Norway's government has ordered its $2 trillion sovereign wealth fund, the largest in the world, to reassess every investment it holds in Israeli companies after revelations that some of them are directly tied to their genocidal campaign in Gaza. The decision follows reports in Norwegian daily Aftenposten that Bet Shemesh Engines, an Israeli manufacturer of aircraft components, supports fighter jets used in the relentless bombardment of Gaza. For months, those airstrikes have reduced entire neighborhoods to rubble and claimed tens of thousands of Palestinian lives. Public outrage matters Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, who oversees the management of the sovereign wealth fund, said the government cannot ignore public outrage over the possibility that Norwegian money finances war crimes. 'Our guidelines forbid investment in companies that take part in serious violations of human rights,' he told reporters in Oslo. 'When allegations point to direct involvement in ongoing military aggression, people have every right to demand answers.' Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre voiced alarm over the revelations, describing himself as 'deeply concerned' about the fund's stake in Bet Shemesh Engines. Investigations show the company plays a role in maintaining and supplying key parts for Israeli fighter jets that have been central to the genocidal air campaign against Gaza. This would not mark the first time Norway cuts financial ties with Israeli firms over their role in the genocide. Last May, the fund pulled out of Baz, an Israeli energy company, after determining it operated inside Palestinian land under Israeli control. The move was described as a refusal to bankroll activities in territories seized in violation of international law. Norway's latest step comes amid a broader shift in Europe, where pressure grows to sever economic links to Israel's war machine. The situation in Palestine worsens daily. Gaza's Health Ministry reports that Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours have killed 68 people and injured 326. Tags: Gazagaza genocidenorwayWar on Gaza

Australia to Recognize Palestinian State at UN in September
Casablanca – Australia will officially recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Monday, describing a two-state solution as 'humanity's best hope' to end the 'cycle of violence' in the Middle East. The decision comes amid mounting international pressure on Israel to end its genocide on Gaza and follows similar symbolic announcements from Canada, France, and the United Kingdom. Read also: Trump Fumes as Canada Joins France and UK in Push to Recognize Palestinian State Albanese said the move is conditional on commitments from the Palestinian Authority (PA), including demilitarization, the holding of general elections, and continued recognition of 'Israel's right to exist'. 'This is an opportunity to deliver self-determination for the people of Palestine in a way that isolates Hamas, disarms it, and drives it out of the region once and for all,' Albanese told reporters, adding that the commitments from PA President Mahmoud Abbas were 'detailed and significant.' Israel condemned the decision, warning that recognizing a Palestinian state allegedly 'rewards terrorism.' Australia's opposition Liberal Party accused the government of making the announcement while Hamas remains in control of Gaza and hostages from the October 7 attacks remain captive. The Australian Greens welcomed the recognition but criticized the government for failing to take stronger action, including imposing sanctions on Israel and ending arms trade. The Australian Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN) called the move a 'political fig leaf,' arguing it distracts from Australia's 'complicity in Israeli war crimes.' Palestinians Flee Gaza Genocide, Swim to Ceuta from Morocco
Marrakech – Palestinian refugees fleeing the genocide in Gaza have begun arriving in Ceuta by swimming from Morocco. According to Spanish outlet The Objective, three Palestinians have recently reached the Spanish-controlled enclave after crossing the maritime border, seeking asylum and safety from the ongoing atrocities in their homeland. The influx of swimmers trying to reach Ceuta's shores has intensified since late July, making the Spanish enclave the latest front where migration from Morocco continues to increase. In response to this sharp spike in irregular migration attempts, Moroccan and Spanish authorities have significantly ramped up their joint security operations in recent days, as reported by El Mundo. The Spanish outlet reports that Morocco has deployed an unprecedented array of ground and maritime resources along its northern coastline, focusing on intercepting makeshift boats and preventing migrants – many of them unaccompanied minors – from reaching the Spanish enclave. While arrivals to the Canary Islands have begun to slow following agreements between the Spanish government and Mauritania, migratory pressure remains constant in Ceuta. According to the latest figures from the Spanish Ministry of Interior, 1,452 people entered Ceuta by land from January to July – a 7.2% increase compared to last year. These entries occurred via the border fence and through the breakwaters at Tarajal and Benzú. In just the last two weeks of this period, 361 people crossed into the Spanish-controlled territory. La Guardia Civil sources explain that official statistics don't fully capture the continuous attempts to enter the Moroccan Spanish-controlled city by sea. These maritime crossing attempts are, however, documented in internal reports accessible to the government delegation. This past Sunday's early morning hours saw one of the nights with the most attempts to cross into Spain. The journey migrants undertake is increasingly reckless. Swimmers only launch into the water when there's an easterly wind and dense fog covering the coast, conditions that favor their arrival. To avoid detection by La Guardia Civil, migrants are venturing farther out to sea rather than following the coastline near the breakwaters, putting their lives at serious risk. Their only lifesaving devices are tiny floats or vehicle tire inner tubes. At least 16 people have lost their lives in waters near the breakwaters this year, indicating the humanitarian tragedy unfolding in Ceuta. Ceuta's intense migratory summer The migrant population at Ceuta's Temporary Immigration Detention Center (CETI) reflects diverse nationalities beyond Moroccans, including Algerians, sub-Saharan Africans, Pakistanis, Afghans, Bangladeshis, Colombians, and Palestinians who have requested asylum in Spain. The Palestinian refugees are specifically fleeing the Gaza genocide, desperately seeking sanctuary on European soil. Just this Saturday, seven more Moroccan minors entered Ceuta by swimming from Morocco, adding to the intense migratory pressure the enclave has experienced since the beginning of summer. This occurred amid a severely overwhelmed reception system. According to data provided by the Government of Ceuta, the minors' area currently houses more than 480 unaccompanied foreign minors, despite having an optimal capacity of only 132 places. Weather conditions, especially the dense fog recorded in the early morning hours, have been crucial in facilitating these crossing attempts. Poor visibility combined with calm seas provides migrants with an opportunity to jump into the water and reach the Ceuta coast. On Saturday, fog and calm seas led dozens of people to attempt to reach the city through the maritime border at Tarajal. Local authorities anticipate that the current trend of maritime entries, favored by climate conditions and the proximity of the Moroccan coast, will continue in the coming weeks, while reception capacity remains at its limit without sufficient structural reinforcements.
