Bob Dylan announces strict concert rule for all fans - and it's caused uproar
Bob Dylan is set to return to the UK and Ireland later this year as part of his Rough and Rowdy Ways world tour - but fans hoping to capture the moment on their phones will be out of luck. The 84-year-old icon has confirmed a 13-show run, with performances scheduled in Dublin, Glasgow, Swansea, Brighton, Leeds, Coventry, and more.
The tour follows a successful string of shows last year, including a three-night stint at the Royal Albert Hall. In line with his recent performances, Dylan will enforce a phone-free policy at every venue. Attendees must seal their devices inside Yondr pouches, which automatically lock upon entry and can only be opened in designated areas outside the main performance space.
Dylan's team confirmed: 'We've been proud to keep these shows phone-free to preserve the intimacy and connection of the live experience.'
He's not the only artist advocating for more present audiences. Nick Cave and Chrissie Hynde have both criticised the modern reliance on filming during gigs, calling for fans to engage directly with the music. Jack White and Alicia Keys have taken similar steps to restrict smartphone use at their concerts.
The issue has become a wider cultural conversation, especially after Oasis' much-hyped return. Following their reunion announcement, fans flooded social media with old concert clips.
According to UK site Compare and Recycle, an estimated 17.3 million minutes of Oasis' upcoming 33-gig tour will likely be recorded which is the equivalent of 33 continuous years of footage.
Dylan's latest tour announcement arrives at a time of renewed interest in his storied career. A Complete Unknown, a biopic released last year starring Timothée Chalamet as Dylan, explores his early years and the seismic moment in the mid-1960s when he famously "went electric."
In recent shows across Texas, Dylan has performed a mix of classics and deep cuts, including Don't Think Twice, It's Alright, I Can Tell, and Under the Red Sky.
A towering figure in music history, Dylan has won 10 Grammy Awards, received 38 nominations, and landed nine UK number one albums. Though his 1962 debut single Mixed-Up Confusion didn't chart, he quickly found success with anthems like The Times They Are A-Changin', Subterranean Homesick Blues, and Like A Rolling Stone.
In 2016, Dylan made history again as the first songwriter to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Swedish Academy praised him for 'creating new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.'
Tickets for the UK and Ireland dates will go on sale Friday, July 18 at 10am.

For a half-hour on Sunday, the cowboy hats were swapped for bucket hats as Oasis tribute act Roll With It took to the main stage at Boucher Playing Fields — and roll with them attendees did. That was just for starters. A nod to the Dublin Oasis weekend takeover ahead, but it was to the strains of 'God Bless the Farmer' by country singer David James that revellers walked in past The Udder Stage. And while all things country were the main attractions, there was still room for alternatives, with indie rockers Kaiser Chiefs thrilling the 10,000-strong crowd late into Sunday evening. Farmer's Bash ticket holders had come from far and wide to enjoy the relaxed party atmosphere of music and fun, many crossing mountains, some not even letting a fall from one get in the way of their entertainment. Eight weeks ago, Co Tyrone woman Katrina McGahan was lying in a French hospital after falling from a cliff. Though back home now and still spending her time in hospital and a wheelchair, she signed out for the afternoon to join her husband Glen Shaw. 'Wouldn't miss it,' she said. 'Life's too short not to enjoy this. You have to live a little.' Saoirse Gaffey and Harry McPhillips, from Westmeath and Wexford, made a weekend away of the festival. 'We came up specially for this. This is just our sort of thing,' said Saoirse. 'We were here on Saturday for The 2 Johnnies; we really wanted to see them. But it's not just about the country music. It's a really diverse crowd and there's a bit of music and fun for everyone. We love it.' A group of nurses had come from Lurgan for the event. Paula Fitzsimmons, in a sparkling pink outfit, was joined by Cathy Smith, Lisa Sharpe, Sabrina Faulkner and Mary Boyce. 'We're here for Luke Combs UK. We're all mad about Luke Combs in Lurgan,' said Sabrina. Arriving from Monaghan for the day were twins Karen and Ciara McCabe, attending with friends Katie McMahon and Wiktoria Obara. 'We were all here last year,' said Katie. 'It was fabulous, so we just had to come back,' she said, hoping the bash will turn into an annual trek. 'We're really keen to get to the Shrek Rave. We're not sure what it is, but it sounds like great craic'. 'Craic' was the word on many lips as the party got into full swing, with Fergus McIlwaine, Sam Brierley and Ollie Weatherup travelling down from Ballynure. 'We were here on Saturday too and the craic was mighty,' said Ollie. 'We're a bit more chilled out today so far, but there's plenty of time yet!' Sunday's eclectic line-up at Boucher Playing Fields also included The Coronas, B*Witched, Nathan Carter and 'the wee man from Strabane', broadcaster and country music fan Hugo Duncan. Visitors across the two-day extravaganza also enjoyed a sheep-shearing disco, Bingo Loco, Piggy 500 'Pig Racng' and the event's inaugural Husband Calling Championship, while members of The Alfie Boe James Huish Academy of Theatre Arts, which is based off Belfast's Shankill Road, got well into the country spirit, dancing away in their inflatable farmyard animal outfits to raise even more smiles.

Liam Gallagher supports brother Paul and flies him to Scotland amid rape charge
Paul Gallagher, the older brother of Liam and Noel, is facing a rape charge amongst 11 charges. Liam Gallagher has reportedly moved brother Paul Gallagher into his £4m mansion after he was charged with rape. The 59-year-old, who is the older brother of Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher, is set to appear at Westminster magistrates' court on August 27. He is currently on bail after being accused of rape, strangulation and coercive control. The DJ is facing a total of 11 charges, including sexual assault, actual bodily harm and threats to kill. The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2022 and 2024. He has denied all allegations. Younger brother Liam, who is said to be very close with Paul, is now showing his support for his older sibling by allowing him to stay at his home in North London, according to The Sun. A source for the publication also reports that Liam allegedly flew Paul out to Oasis' Murrayfield gig on Saturday night via a £3.5m private jet, the Metro reports. In pictures obtained by The Sun, Liam and Paul were seen arriving at Luton airport where they laughed and joked together before boarding the private jet. Another image published by the publication shows Paul at Liam's London mansion, dragging his luggage behind him as he carries a heavy backpack. Oasis are set to play one more night at Murrayfield on Tuesday before heading to Dublin on the next stop of their tour. The third Gallagher brother has never been a part of Oasis, although he previously worked as a DJ and photographer while the band toured. "Paul Gallagher, 59, of Manor Park Road, East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. "The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022 – 2024. The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially-trained officers."

Oasis skip huge song at Murrayfield despite Noel saying it's 'one of the best I've written'
Oasis returned to Murrayfield Stadium this weekend for their first Scottish gig in 16 years but the pair did not play all of their number one singles. Oasis played two incredible sell out gigs at Murrayfield Stadium this weekend which came as their first Scottish gig in 16 years. The Gallagher brothers took to the stage in the Capital to crowds of around 135,000 across Friday and Saturday evening and are set to finish their three night run in Scotland on Tuesday August 12. The Manchester based band have several ties to Scotland after first being 'discovered' at King Tuts in Glasgow and playing iconic gigs such as their Loch Lomond performance in 1996. Despite this, Noel Gallagher has still made eyebrow raising comments about Scotland as he previously branded it a 'third world country' during a now resolved feud with Lewis Capaldi. However, Liam and Noel, who finally put their long-standing rift to bed after a decade and a half last year, appeared to be having the time of their life on stage. Oasis played many of their iconic fan favourite hits, including Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Slide Away and Live Forever while each gig ended with Champagne Supernova and a firework display. The band played 23 of their hits to fans but a few of them were noticeably missing from the setlist - including one which Noel Gallagher previously said was one of the best songs he's ever written. A notable tune that was absent from their performance was Stop Crying Your Heart Out (2002) as well as their fourth number one single, All Around The World, which was released in 1998. Taken from their third album, Be Here Now, the song is nine minutes long, although a shorter version of under five was released for the radio. The two other singles from Be Here Now - D'You Known What I Mean and Stand By Me - have been played during the concerts. While other number-one singles like The Importance of Being Idle have also not been featured, Noel once said that All Around the World was one of the best songs he'd ever written. He wrote it before the band became a global sensation but delayed its release as he wanted to do the production justice. Noel even compared it to the The Beatles' Hey Jude, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest songs of all time. Speaking at the time of its release, he said: "...the longer the better as far as I'm concerned. If it's good. I can see what people are going to say, but f**k 'em, basically. "The lyrics are teeny-poppy. But there are three key changes towards the end. Imagine how much better Hey Jude would have been with three key changes towards the end." The famous track also features backing vocals from Richard Ashcroft, the former Verve frontman who is the support act for Oasis on their tour. Noel and Liam's then-wives Meg Mathews and Patsy Kensit also feature. Other number ones that didn't feature are Go Let It out, The Hindu Times and Lyla while other classic album tracks such as She's Electric didn't make the cut either.
